Given the number of people dropping every year, it would probably make more sense to number all of the finishers 1 through 64. That way, you can take the top 16 finishers of the returning players the next year, then three more groups of 16 in order with newbies/replacements at the bottom. If you need tiebreakers, just use total points.

The first number is the previous year's league, the second is how they placed.

In this system, its harder for teams in the bottom leagues to move up. The top 7 teams in SSL1 get to stay, while only the champ of SSL4 gets to jump to the top league. We could also use this order to know how to bump teams up in case of defections.

What do you guys think?

I think it should be hard to move up, however if you win any of the 4 leagues, I think you should be in league 1 the following year. Just my $.02

In my suggestion, you can jump 2 ladders by winning a league, so SSL4's winner could jump to SSL2, but not yet make it to the top of the ladder, whereas SSL3's winner can advance to the Expert division.

25%+ of the group will drop in any case. Personally I don't see much difference between the leagues as several of us in the "Momentum Gaining Division" whipped up on the rest of the folks in numerous other leagues. For that matter, some of the newbies in division 4 are probably every bit as skilled as some in division 1. If they perform, they should be promoted up. Heck, if I had used a different tiebreaker in making assignments, several in D1 would be in D2 and vice versa. At least three were promoted to D1 because others no showed. Let's not offer any unnecessary protection to the pretneders hiding in division 1.

I like this much better than BNB's proposal. IMO, you shouldn't be able to advance or drop more than 1 or 2 tiers the next season... I can see finishing 1.16 and dropping to SSL3, but going from 1 to 4 is harsh. Same goes for moving up, do 3 or 4 guppies in SSL4 deserve to move straight to SSL1 with a top finish?My personal suggestion would be no more than a 2 tier drop or advancement from one year to the next, with the vast majority of advancement coming from the top teams.

I'd suggest the following advancement/demotion scale:

I like this too, though I kind of like the idea that a team could jump from 4 to 1. I might be biased though seeing as how I'm currently in SSL4.I agree that dropping a team from 1 to 4 might be a little harsh, but imagine the ridicule he would have to endure :lmao:

Basically we are all just a little lazy.Speaking of lazy, I was begging for some inside Detroit info for two straight days in the Shark Pool, but no Cowboy ever came to my rescue. Now I have only one waiver wire move left and my QBs this week are C Palmer and Garcia :X

Speaking of lazy, I was begging for some inside Detroit info for two straight days in the Shark Pool, but no Cowboy ever came to my rescue. Now I have only one waiver wire move left and my QBs this week are C Palmer and Garcia :X
No lazy here Razor, I've been busy as all get out in the AC. Ravnzan is MIA (copartner in coachs corner) and have been taking all Q's with some help from Bristol. Seriously, if you need any insight ever or an extra opinion just shoot me a PM.

For the record, I think we should make the ladder less fluid for next year since the ladder will have been more established. Not significantly less, just a bit though since some level of skill has been differentiated this year.

I missed my SSl confirm while out of town on vacation. I want my slot back for 2006 so pencil me into one of those openings.

you're misinterpreting the initial post of this thread...the top 4 teams from SSL3 are promoted to SSL1.Congrats...you get the honor of getting beatdown by me again next year. :D

can someone explain the process here again? I don't remember how this is supposed to work.
I just took all the teams with 4 next to their name. I thought if you got knocked out early enough you got demoted, or stayed in ssl4
