Square Transaction Question (1 Viewer)

Question about "Square" - The payment/transaction thing that retailers use.

I got a text with a receipt from a place I didn't go from Square. I don't see any charges on my card that match this.

Haven't used Square myself very often so don't really remember the process. But, I thought I remembered having to put in my cell or email address the first time I used it, so I think the guy just entered my cell number by accident when he completed the transaction.

Anyone familiar with the process?

Watch your credit card for the next few days and if a transaction comes up- dispute it.

If you are really squirrelly about it then call your credit card/debit card company and ask them if there are any pending transactions from the place you show on the text.

I will check for sure. May call the card as well but don't want them to cancel the number as that is a huge pain.

Does anyone know/remember if you have to reenter a cell or email every time you pay with Square?

Square associates your e-mail to your credit card. I get receipts from them frequently from places it is my first time eating at and I haven't entered e-mail.

That's how I remember it working. I think one of my cards is also linked to my cell because I have quite a few receipts in my text history from Square.

I looked closer at the receipt Square sent me from this mystery purchase and it has the guy's name and the last 4 digits of the Visa he used and it doesn't match mine so I think I'm good. I think he just entered my cell number by accident to get his receipt.
