Stamp collectors? (1 Viewer)

Wife found a bunch of old stamp books that belonged to her grandfather that passed away in some boxes that she had. We have had these for years and she just decided t go through them. Anyways, there are hundreds, maybe a few thousand stamps both loose and in albums. Some quick minor goolging and ebaying, it seems these might be legit.

However, most of them are stamped or cancelled and a lot are stuck in albums. This kills most of the value right? Am I best off taking these to a coin shop and unloading for whatever they offer?

Depends on how much time you want to put into it. I had a junkie roommate who somehow came into some nice unmarked stamps in envelopes, he left some of them when he split. I looked them up, most were around a dollar, some twenty. Probably worth taking it to a shop, but they'll probably charge you to look at them.

The cynic in me says that the stamp guy will charge you to look at them and then keep any that are super valuable. That's assuming you aren't with him for every second as he sorts through thousands of stamps.

If you take any offer, you get the same problem in a different form.

Yeah, probably. But they aren't going to look through thousands of stamps for nothing.
