STAR WARS: EP 7 ***SPOILER ZONE*** - Go here if you've seen it (1 Viewer)

Not sure if this is the right topic for this but I guess it will do until we have a new thread.

Star Wars VIII officially started principle photography and it was also announced that Laura Dern has joined the cast.

Looks like EP 7 is finishing up its initial run.  It will probably bring in a little more money but its rankings are set until it eventually gets re-released.

#1 All time domestic revenue (by an enormous amount over Avatar at #2)

#11 All time domestic adjusted revenue (closing in on #10 but probably won't get there this run)

#3 All time world wide revenue (it will likely never catch #1 in Avatar.  We need to wait and see whether it can get to #2 (Titanic) on a re release).

#5 best star wars movie.

As much as I want to get it, I need to wait for the 3d combo pack.  Ridiculous what Disney has done with the 3D releases in the US.  Might have to wait for Amazon UK to get it in. :hot:
How do you buy it from Amazon UK?  They shouldn't be selling US BDs, just UK ones.  DVDs you could reprogram your DVD player or computer to play a UK DVD, but with Blu-Ray the region coding is built-in to the hardware, IIRC, so you'd never be able to play a UK BD in an American player, right?

Nope. There are lots of region free blu-rays available. I've bought several from Amazon UK and never had a problem.

Figured I'd post this here for Star Wars fans, kinda cool Darth Maul Fan Film...not much story but some really cool effects and choreography for what it is. Looks high budget.

Got my copy today.. was "forced" to take Friday off as I'm about maxed out on my 200 hours of vacation time.. and wouldn't you know it, Mother nature is making it a movie marathon day as forecast is a high of only 38. :)

Who has the best extras? Target?

Depends on what you want. According to TechTimes.com, Target has the best Retailer Exclusive, which is pretty much 20 minutes of exclusive content. The others (Best Buy/Walmart) have cooler boxes, and one has a lithograph, but Target's the only one with additional footage/interviews/etc.

who keeps their movies in a box?  Any disc we own is put right into our binder.

Collectors. People who like original artwork. Folks who prefer browsing their movies on a shelf rather than flipping through binders. Me. OCD types that need everything to be just so. Suckers for elaborate packaging. Those who intend to resell eventually. I dunno.

Yeah, I'd say the vast minority of people put their movies in a binder. Which is funny because I actually do put a lot of them in binders. The ones I don't are usually my favorites that I keep in the boxes.

Finally watched it and got through the first 4 pages of the thread, saw a couple of things already covered, but here are a couple of my thoughts:

1. Was actually kind of annoyed that almost everyone speaks droid in this one.

2. Regarding Rey, I had 2 thoughts: first, she was probably a youngling and she's starting to remember that time in her life; second, I'm thinking her innate skill with technology is a foreshadowing of her origin being like Anakin's, which was left murky in the first trilogy.

Also, didn't know that about Daniel Craig. Too funny.

After watching it again, now at home, it seems to be that the best term is not reboot or sequel / prequel.

This is a pretty nice 'reintroduction' of a simple story that uses unmatched effects and some good scoring (music) to tug the right heartstrings in a rah-rah black and white good vs evil construct that even a kindegartener can understand.

The second appears to be much more dark, with a depth and subtly that the original original nor this 'reintroduction' has. I think thats by design. This first is more tongue in cheek, grabs a huge swarth of audience. Then the good stuff really comes in the second installment with more mature and potentially conflicting themes that shake the almost too easy and simple joy of the first movie. Like Empire. I was a stunned 8 year old that quite literally refused to believe what happened. But I was already a fan from watching things go boom and watching the good guys win as a 6 year old not long before.

First viewing.  Rey being Luke's daughter smacks me right in the face.  Maybe it's too obvious, and they will throw us a curveball.  But seems completely consistent to me.

The reveal for who Rey's parents are will be just as big as Darth/Anakin revealing to Luke that he's his father. Whether it's the mother or father, one or both will be someone(s) we don't expect. Like, at all.

The show is not over until who it is that is revealed. Until then, I say its Mara Jade.
Yes, well if you want to look at it that way, you could say it's Kara Zor-El.  At this point, she doesn't exist in the SW universe either, but there's nothing stopping them from creating a character with that name and making her Rey's mother.

Oh is that one of the characters you all read in those books in between jack sessions in your mid-20s?

Yea she's probably not going to be a part of the story.

Her dad sure isn't Bib Fortuna. I'd bet all the money I got.

No they'll just use her character and likeness and then make her Luke's wife and call her something clever. Kind of like Ben Solo instead of Anakin Solo. See it's different because it wasn't Ben Skywalker but it is Jacen Solo.
