Someone recently posted an interesting question. Should you start 2 running backs from same team? What are your thoughts starting 2 receivers from same team? For example-Roddy White and Julio Jones;Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz for example.
I don't feel as strongly about this being a poor August strategy as RB but it's similar. If two guys fall to the right value I could be swayed but it's not something I'd plan to do. I backed into starting Laurent and Dez towards the end of last year but that was not my plan preseason.
If I draft Roddy White and Julio Jones is the last guy available in my tier of WR's when I pick AND the value's not there at other positions I'll pull the trigger but absolutely not something I'd plan on going into the draft.
I have never had very good luck with starting 2 WRs from the same team. Seems that one will do well in any given week, but usually not both of them. With some offenses it works (like Rams in the Greatest Show on Turf days) but I usually pass on picking up a 2nd WR on the same team in my leagues, as usally there will be a player in the same tier I like as well still available.
I didn't mind doing it. But if I could do a straight swap with a guy I value very close to I never minded doing it. Unfortunately, when I owned Boldin and Fitzgerald, I chose to deal Fitz for Lee Evans and a late 1st. So I might not be the guy you want to look to for this.
