Starting a team's QB to offset a WR? (1 Viewer)

I'm not really trying to get a WDIS thing going here, but I have a question on strategy. Say you are playing someone who has Steve Smith, or Tory Holt. Would you bench someone like Palmer or Manning for Delhomme or Bulger, even if the matchups say you should go the other way?

I would probably never bench Palmer or Manning for anyone. Those guys are both upper tier and likely should never be benched.

But when the decision is between 2 more or less equal players, then I think it is a viable strategy. For example, I had to choose between Vick and Bulger today. My opponent is playing both Holt and Bruce. That made the decision fairly easy to go with Bulger, IMO. Guess I will see how it goes...

IMO bottom line is to start your best players.

I would never do it on the QB side, meaning I'd always start the QB I think will do the best. QBs get to throw to 5+ other targets besides one WR.

On the WR side, I will play matchups if I am debating between two nearly equal players. So hypothetically if I was debating between Jennings and Mason and my oppt had Favre I'd go with Jennings. If it were Holt vs. Jennings it's no question.

I didn't want to actually put my players in to make it a WDIS, but I guess it's as good an example as any. I have Delhomme and Hasselbeck. My opponent is playing Keyshawn. It's not Steve Smith, but Hasselbeck is a little higher ranked this week, but not much. Is it worth putting in the lower ranked QB to offset any player on the other squad. Oh, and I agree about Manning, I just couldn't come up with a good example.

I myself am trying it this week.

Opponent has Chambers so I am playing Culpepper against Hou.

Benching Delhomme against NO.
