Starting Deangelo Williams this week? (1 Viewer)

He's healthy, if nothing else. Seems like the Cards front seven met the RBs in the backfield most of the game. And if Cam can keep D's honest you would THINK this would only help D-Will and Stewart this season.

If you had told me before the game that Cam was gonna' toss for 300+ 400+ and D would get 30 yards rushing, I would still be laughing. I started D instead of Tate, I am not laughing!!

(I know, I know, :ptts:
FYP.
Please educate me, what is FYP?
Fixed your post.Just saying, Cam had 400+, which is even more bat-#### crazy for a rookie.
Thanx for that. That really is bat- S*&T crazy when everyone thought that he would be next Jamarcus. (Thanx for the knowledge.)

That's because they're just racist...

Do not get me started. I will have to go to the FFA.

awful situation developing for deangelo. looks to be the 50/50 split that had been contentiously debated and predicted for thousands of posts on this site over the last few yrs. cam looks to be the goal line back. and deangelo looks pedestrian as they come as opposed to the agility and explosiveness he had displayed the last few yrs.

Wasn't exactly encouraging watching that game, but I guess a positive to take away from it is it LOOKS like the offense should be greatly improved from last year. DeAngelo is healthy, Stewart looked good (but it also looked like he was limping around,) and Newton should take some pressure off the running game. Week 2 against GB doesn't project very well though.

One thing I have always noticed with DeAngelo is he always gets off to a slow start.. takes a few games to get the stats piling up if he stays healthy. I remember people always saying "wait for the bye week, then he'll take off," and it seemed to be the case.

2008 Season:

-Week 1 = 86 yards

-Week 2 = 31 yards

-Week 3 = 27 yards

-Week 4 = 54 yards

**BYE WEEK**

-Week 5 = 123 yards / 3 TDs

-Week 6 = 27 yards

-Week 7 = 66 yards / 1 TD

-Week 8 = 108 yards / 1 TD

-Week 10 = 140 yards / 1 TD

-Week 11 = 120 yards / 2 TDs

-Week 12 = 101 yards / 1 TD

-Week 13 = 72 yards / 4 TDs

-Week 14 = 186 yards / 2 TDs

-Week 15 = 88 yards / 1 TD

-Week 16 = 108 yards / 4 TDs

-Week 17 = 178 yards

2009 Season:

-Week 1 = 37 yards / 1 TD

-Week 2 = 79 yards / 1 TD

-Week 3 = 64 yards

**BYE WEEK**

-Week 5 = 40 yards

-Week 6 = 152 yards / 2 TDs

-Week 7 = 89 yards / 1 TD

-Week 8 = 158 yards

-Week 9 = 149 yards / 2 TDs

-Week 10 = 92 yards

-Week 11 = 122 yards

-Injury problems the rest of the year

2010 Season:

-Jimmy Clausen

-Matt Moore

-No Jeff Otah

-Jimmy Clausen

Good to see Steve Smith finally get his though!

I am afraid he's a matchup play at best this year. I tried to sell him all week up until kickoff and no takers. This may be a 4th round pick that went :toilet:

I do not know if you are rookie owners, but there is no need to panic after week one. The Panthers did not break the bank for a PTP'er. As long as Cam continues to stretch the D, DeAngelo will be a force. The Cards forced Cam to beat them and he showed that he could play. Other teams will have to respect that.

No rookie here but DeAngelo won't sniff the field until the bye weeks of Gore & Beanie.

If you have what you think are two better options, congrats. My point is, Don't bail on a player after one week. (P.S. If you have Gore and Beanie, DeAngelo will play before the bye weeks). :boxing:

I heard the same #### last year

Certainly no reason to bail but right now he is a ham and egger. For the rest of his Carolin career, goalline TD's are a thing of the past. He is going to need to score from a distance. Splitting carries, TD's now cut into 3 pieces, my expectations are super low.

Agree. :kicksrock: I posted on the "pick you immediately regretted" thread. Did what I could to get out of this situation. Like the housing market, he's at pre-foreclosure short sale value. No way I shop him now. I got to stash him on the bench and watch all those legit WR's I could have taken in the 4th round. D Will was where I flunked the draft. :topcat:

For what it's worth, I think that as Cam, Smith, and Olsen/Shockey gel, the holes will open wide for D. He seems like a perfect second half/run to the Bowl type of player.

The schedule is favorable I think after week 4. That's about the only good news.

I was faced with Felix Jones or DW in the 4th and I took FOREVER, pissing off everyone at the draft, then rolled with DW, and immediately regretted it. I really wish that clown owner Jerry Richards hadn't thrown that dump truck of money on him. It blinded me to the truth. I meant to post in the "regret" thread but never got around to it. I'll need the WW to save me from this mess. No, I'm not overreacting. DW was a horrendous pick. Should have played D Ward like my gut said. PTTS.

lol i did the same thing in mid august, took deangelo over felix and insta regretted it. didnt follow my own projections and rankings as i had felix much higher. fast forward a few weeks and felix is goin in the 2nd round and i have no chance of ever drafting him. and then today rolls around and deangelo looks as spry as cedric benson but is splitting carries and 3rd in line for gl work ugh.

Deleted the week 1 poll - was 112 yes, 7 no

Added a week 2 poll

I agree with whoever said, we should make this the unofficial DW support thread

For what it's worth, Carolina's run-blocking was pretty bad most of the afternoon. DW was met in the backfield or at the line of scrimmage for each of his first 9 carries. No RB is going to appear "spry" when the o-line is getting dominated like that.

It is encouraging to see that there will actually be more than a semblance of a passing game this year for this Panthers team. That can only help DW going forward.

As has been noted, in prior seasons, Williams put up pedestrian numbers before really taking off. I'd wait at least a couple games before drawing any conclusions as to DW's ceiling this season.

Anyone else do "upside down" drafting with DW as your RB1?Anyone? Anyone? :tumbleweed:
Yep, I went WR WR QB WR then Williams. Fortunately I can play 1 RB and 3 WR, and my other RBs looked good today. Just need one to emerge as a starting option. Doesn't look like it's gonna be Williams.

Arizona was bringing pressure all day, trying to force the rookie to beat them. Arizona never changed their game plan, they never really made adjustments, and because of that Newton put up 400+ yards passing

The positive to take out of this, is that the run game will improve now that teams realize they will have to respect the pass

I saw stewart in the game but was it really 50/50? I see you guys saying dwill didnt look good, but did jstew look any better? When the qb throws for 422 in a loss and vultures a td i dont get upset with the rb yardage. They paid him $42m, he will get the rock.

my guess is Stewart was on the field for more snaps. that's what surprised me. Stewart looked like he always looks....talented.
