Stephen Jackson is the new Tiki Barber (1 Viewer)

SJax quietly posted the #3 best fantasy performance this year (pending your scoring system)... and seemed to go quite unhyped... and rarely, if ever, ranked as the #2 or #3 weekly prediction for RBs.

Reminds me of Tiki...

not the exciting flash...

never/rarely a Top 3 weekly forecast...

always somehow seems to slip(ped) a bit in the draft

And shows up with a Top 5 outcome, when all is said and done.

If not SJax... Westbrook next year.

He won't be slipping in many drafts next year. He will be in the top 3 of almost every draft and possibly 2nd in some drafts.

1. He's not underrated at all.2. It's Steven, not Stephen.
Thanks, I work with a "ph", thusly on my mind.Jackson's average weekly rating (via F'Guys) during the first half the season was the #9 RB... the final weeks he blew up.My point wasn't clear enough... so I'll continue. Now that SJax is catching the ball even more. Yes he'll go first round (as did Tiki this year)... but if you recall... Tiki had 2,100 total yards and 21 TDs in '04, yet '05 was still about Priest, LT2, Shaun, etc... only to put up 2.400 the following year. So many ppl "bummed" this year with the #4 pick (most felt 'stuck' with Tiki or Jackson, and bummed they didn't get one of the Top 3). I had to talk a number of ppl down from the 4 or 5 pick this year, convincing them Tiki or SJax were still well worthy of that pick, if not more. Yeah he'll go Top 5 next year, but the attitude will mistakenly place him too far below the Top 3. Maybe it's just me.

It's just you. SJax is a bonifide #3 pick on everyone's list for next year (some might even give him #2). When has Tiki ever been in that territory? I'd venture a guess that he has hardly ever even broken the top-5 on anyone's preseason draft list. Jackson gets a lot more love than Tiki ever did. Folks are projecting him quite appropriately, I think.

Last season he got 20 carries 3 times under Martz. Now that he showed what he can do he'll be rated high.

"Underrated year in and year out?" The guy just completed his third season in the league, and his first as a proven RB1. He was an RB2 last year, and a bench player his rookie year. I'm not sure how you came to this conclusion...

| 2004 stl | 14 | 134 673 5.0 4 | 19 189 9.9 0 |

| 2005 stl | 15 | 254 1046 4.1 8 | 43 320 7.4 2 |

| 2006 stl | 16 | 346 1528 4.4 13 | 90 806 9.0 3 |

In PPR leagues, I think SJ is a definite choice for #2. I think his potential was very underrated this year - but that's all it was, potential. On some draft boards, SJ was a late late 1st rder to early second.

If anything, he may go a bit over-hyped in '08.

I don't care if LT2 is on the Madden box next year, I don't see how anyone is above him on the draft board.

As far as Tiki goes, I think, this year, he ended up just about where most people had him on their draft board - top 8 RB.

:o I'm assuming SJax was a 1st-round pick in everybody's draft (redraft, dynasty, keeper) this past year, right??
I took him at #9 in a dynasty, so I don't think he was under-rated. Maybe in redrafts where he slipped to the 2nd, but he's nowhere near the lack of respect Barber got every year (4th+).

80% of draft boards next year will read:1 - LT2 - Jackson3 - LJor1 - LT2 - LJ3 - Jackson
Agreed and I'm very curious to hear why people would take Jackson over LT?
Depends on the scoring system, of course. But in a PPR I think a case could be made for Jackson at #1. LT had a career year, so if Jackson was anywhere close to him in your scoring system, it's reasonable to elevate the fresher player who has more to prove than the guy a year after shattering almost every record at his position. I'm not saying you'd go wrong with LT, and he also catches passes. But in a PPR I don't think Jackson at #1 is a stupid move. I have to admit I'd be tempted if I had that top pick.

We have a winner :hophead:

The amazing thing about SJax and his late season run is the fact that he did it with a depleted OL. Picking LT anything but #1 is silly, but based on a couple of key factors:

1) What is the makeup of the KC OL

2) Strength of schedule including who plays who during fantasy playoffs

SJax could bump LJ for #2.

:goodposting: This guy is just starting his career, really.
