Steve Johnson, WR, Buffalo Bills (1 Viewer)

Any more thoughts on this guy? Evans gone probably jurts, but D still underachieving and leaving them to play catch up should mean plenty of targets for being #1.Is there a WR in history we can go back to who was in a similar situation to get a handle on his production this year?Got him in the 6th round as my #2 in PPR but now a little nervous about taking him.
Relax, Stevie is a stud. Fitzpatrick loves him and the Bills are still going to throw it a ton this year. Even with Evans gone, the Bills still have Parrish who can also stretch the field and open things up for Stevie J. He'll have a great season.
Man I sure hope so. I went went RB heavy in the first three rounds of my draft so I really need this Steve to come through for me. I wanted him as a #3 but drafted him as as a #2. I'm also thinking about grabbing Fitz off of waivers as my #2 QB.

Dude was top 10 last year, his situation this year couldn't possibly be any worse than it was. Last year was his third year, but it was only his first season where he played any significant role. In that sense he faced many of the same issues a rookie receiver would face in terms of playing at NFL game speed over a full season. I don't expect his numbers to be far off from last year. I don't see the problem with getting him in the fifth round.
Who's drafted this guy yet? Anyone skipping the elite guys and gambling on taking him in mid rounds? Are you taking him as a #2 or 3?Evan is gone, anyone seeing this negatively affecting him or will he now be a ball hog?

I have faith in Stevie, counting on him and Harvin to once again lead my WRs this year (ranked 9th and 17th last year in my league!)

I got Stevie in the 5th and Wayne in the 3rd in my 14 teamer PPR league.

Full disclosure: I drafted him at 6.10 in a 12man PPR league. I loaded up on RBs and he's my #2 WR behind Vjax. I skipped some pretty solid names (Marshall, Maclin, Holmes, etc) in hopes he puts up similar numbers.

I've had a couple owners inquire about him for a trade but nothing appealing to give him up.

I hope I did the right thing. Buffalo should be behind in a lot of games this year playing catchup so I hope he stands his ground with those other great names I mentioned above.

I watched the Bills game the other night and Johnson looks GOOD. I like him a lot. Seems to be really exploding right now. This could be the time to get him when many owners still worry he is a one-year wonder.

I really really hope so. I tried to get value at the WR position (I usually do well at it ever year) and get those 3-down RBs I covet very highly.I just need for him to pull his weight and give me solid WR2 numbers. It'll be a real blessing if he can work and give low range WR1 stats.

I took him at #61 as my #3 WR and loved it.

As a Bills fan, I have seen every game Stevie Johnson has played. The guy has a lot of talent; he was a steal in the 7th round for the Bills. I don't think Evans departure will negatively effect Johnson at all; will only give him more opprotunities.

Don't forget that last season was Chan Gailey's first year in Buffalo as HC/OC. The season started out very rough for this team (0-8) but they had a tremendous bounce back once they had their starting QB set (Fitzpatrick - saw 0 reps with 1st team in TC and preseason due to Trent Edwards) and started to grasp Gailey's system (4-4). Gailey really likes to use 3/4/5 WR sets and I think he will rely on those more heavily this season to move the ball. The offense as a whole looked terrific in game 3 of preseason against JAX- they were silky smooth with Fitz getting plenty of time and finishing with 2 TD's and a perfect QB rating. Fitz and Johnson also put in some offseason work together during the lockout. Their 52 yard TD hook up against a probowl CB (Mathis) was a thing of beauty. Both Fitz and Stevie recognized before the play he would be one on one and they were able to adjust and hit the big play.

There is no question in my mind that Stevie is Fitz's preferred target. They have some very good chemistry going. Johnson will also have some help from Roscoe Parrish, Marcus Easley (looked fantastic against JAX- leaping grab for Fitz's other TD pass), Donald Jones, and Brad Smith. This offense will not miss Evans 37 receptions- I expect Easley to surpass that total easily.

Fitz also gets a bad rap in general. He had a pretty good season despite the fact he saw ZERO time as the #1 in TC and preseason- came in cold mid-way thru season. If you extrapolate his pace to a 16 game season, you come out with:

28.3 TDS / 18.5 INT / 3692 YDS

I can see Fitz matching those numbers this year and probably surpassing them. The line is not as terrible as everyone makes it out to be- they gave Fitz plenty of time to pick apart JAX.

Stevie put up last season:

82 REC / 1073 YDS / 10 TD

I predict we will see:

90 REC / 1150 YDS / 12 TD
