he's good. top 15 WR in most of my leagues.congrats on getting him cheaply.PS, don't forget to update your sigjust dealt for him got him relatively cheap... have never seen him play. what say the shark pool
Him and Fitzpatrick apparently practice together a lot, might explain why hes their most targetted WR in and out of the redzone.I picked him after his first game with a TD and he's now turned into an every-week starter, and I have absolutely no idea why he's so good. I've watched a good amount of Bills games this season, and it just seems like he does everything pretty well, and he has great chemistry with Fitzpatrick. If the Bills decide to stick with Fitzpatrick after this season, I'm pretty high on Johnson's dynasty value.
That rules. Really wish I hadn't chosen to wait an extra week to try to pick this guy off the WW earlier this season. After his 1st TD, Steve Johnson raised his uniform to show a handwritten message that said, "Why so serious?" Explanation:Steve Johnson scrawled "Why so serious?" on his undershirt in homage to The Joker, a role Johnson wanted to play against the self-proclaimed Batman and Robin, Bengals receivers Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco. Johnson finished with eight catches for 137 yards and three touchdowns. Batman and Robin combined for six receptions, 91 yards and two touchdowns.![]()
A few of us were talking about Johnson in the game thread. Like I said there, I've never seen anything particularly impressive about him -- pretty good hands I guess, but nothing special with respect to speed, size, elusiveness, tackle-breaking, etc. Considering that he was a late-round pick (7th IIRC -- too lazy to look it up), I was happy that he was developing into a quality role-player, but that's all I've ever seen him as. But there just isn't any arguing with his on-field results this year. The guy has somehow developed into a stud WR, and while I still think this has a little bit of a flukey feel to it, Johnson keeps proving me wrong week after week.
On a related note, I don't re-watch our games to break down the defensive coverage the Bills' receivers are getting, but I doubt this is just a case of him benefitting from being opposite Lee Evans. Johnson has been our clear #1 WR for weeks now, while Evans continues to under-perform. Not a crack on Evans, but I think defenses know that Johnson is really Fitz's favorite target.
Fitzpatrick is on record as saying Stevie creates space better in the redzone than any WR he's ever played with. That would include TO, Holt, Bruce, and Ocho Cinco among others. Steve Johnson is the real deal. He doesn't have great long speed but he is one of the best in the NFL in short area quickness. He reminds of someone similar to Michael Crabtree, just a lot later in blooming.A few of us were talking about Johnson in the game thread. He doesn't do anything particularly well, but he does run good routes and is elusive after the catch. It's hard to believe that he was benched early in the season for Gailey's perceived lack of polish.
His gaudy fantasy numbers are also largely a product of their wide open offense. He is a good pickup at least for the rest of this year as Buffalo can only be competitive in high-scoring games with their awful defense.
