define relatively cheap?

I have him in two leagues. Picked him up iun one in the offseason as he was rumored to be the starter opposite Evans. He is the #13 wr in that league now and a must start every week.

Picked him up in my 2nd league in the midst of his scoring streak. He is #16 in wr scoring.

He is not getting a lot of hype but has the attention of Fitzpatrick and seems to be benefiting from the double teams to Evans. at 6'2 202 he seems to be perpetuating the 3rd year breakout. Must be a product of playing in Buff since he isnt getting much press or discussions anywhere. He has been very productive, mostly due to TDs as his yardage is not impressive most weeks. He does have two great yardage weeks in the last 4. 2 concerns, without a TD does he still get the FF Points? Who is his QB next year and will they look to him the same way?

But being on the west coast, never actually seen him play.

Boy this guy gets better every week. I've got him in two dynasty leagues and he's become a must start. Hope he's the real deal and keep it up! From what I've read they love the guy, especially in the red zone so that is EXCELLENT news!

A few of us were talking about Johnson in the game thread. Like I said there, I've never seen anything particularly impressive about him -- pretty good hands I guess, but nothing special with respect to speed, size, elusiveness, tackle-breaking, etc. Considering that he was a late-round pick (7th IIRC -- too lazy to look it up), I was happy that he was developing into a quality role-player, but that's all I've ever seen him as. But there just isn't any arguing with his on-field results this year. The guy has somehow developed into a stud WR, and while I still think this has a little bit of a flukey feel to it, Johnson keeps proving me wrong week after week.

On a related note, I don't re-watch our games to break down the defensive coverage the Bills' receivers are getting, but I doubt this is just a case of him benefitting from being opposite Lee Evans. Johnson has been our clear #1 WR for weeks now, while Evans continues to under-perform. Not a crack on Evans, but I think defenses know that Johnson is really Fitz's favorite target.

By the way after today's numbers he is probably top 5 this year in most leagues. Dynasty he's gotta be scratching the top 20, maybe top 15.

I picked him after his first game with a TD and he's now turned into an every-week starter, and I have absolutely no idea why he's so good. I've watched a good amount of Bills games this season, and it just seems like he does everything pretty well, and he has great chemistry with Fitzpatrick. If the Bills decide to stick with Fitzpatrick after this season, I'm pretty high on Johnson's dynasty value.

Him and Fitzpatrick apparently practice together a lot, might explain why hes their most targetted WR in and out of the redzone.

Fitzpatrick and Johnson's chemistry started 3 years ago when they would both run the scout team in practice. He is clearly the #1 target on Buffalo right now. I believe he was targeted 10 times today and Evans was targeted 4 times.

After his 1st TD, Steve Johnson raised his uniform to show a handwritten message that said, "Why so serious?" Explanation:

Steve Johnson scrawled "Why so serious?" on his undershirt in homage to The Joker, a role Johnson wanted to play against the self-proclaimed Batman and Robin, Bengals receivers Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco. Johnson finished with eight catches for 137 yards and three touchdowns. Batman and Robin combined for six receptions, 91 yards and two touchdowns.

That rules. Really wish I hadn't chosen to wait an extra week to try to pick this guy off the WW earlier this season.

I grabbed him off the WW back in like week 2. I played him 2x this year, one time being last week when he got me 3pts. Having Bowe and Calvin makes it hard to play him. I always prefer to run 3rbs, one as the flex. With Jamaal Charles, bradshaw and rice...he gets benched most weeks. I should squeek out a win this week and go to 10-1 - I am up by 7 with bradshaw and gates/mcmichaels to go against Jacobs.....sure wish I played him but who would you bench in that situation...cant bench calvin and bowe is on fire. Just glad someone else isnt beating me with him at this poiint :stirspot:

Picked him up in the offseason in all 3 of my Zealots leagues for 50zb, that is very cheap for those of you that don't play in zealots leagues. :stirspot:

 Agree with everything here. He doesn't do anything particularly well, but he does run good routes and is elusive after the catch. It's hard to believe that he was benched early in the season for Gailey's perceived lack of polish.

His gaudy fantasy numbers are also largely a product of their wide open offense. He is a good pickup at least for the rest of this year as Buffalo can only be competitive in high-scoring games with their awful defense.

Fitzpatrick is on record as saying Stevie creates space better in the redzone than any WR he's ever played with. That would include TO, Holt, Bruce, and Ocho Cinco among others. Steve Johnson is the real deal. He doesn't have great long speed but he is one of the best in the NFL in short area quickness. He reminds of someone similar to Michael Crabtree, just a lot later in blooming.

I now LOVE the guy as a player!

I'll disagree with the other Bills fans just to say that I always thought that Johnson did the most with his limited opportunities. I don't think that he showed anything special in practice, but it always seemed like he made plays during preseason and when he got a chance to play in the regular season. But **** Jauron is an offensive moron and had no idea how to use him.
