Steve Smith injury (1 Viewer)

Been playing fantasy football for a long time so I know my season is not even close to being over. But it just makes you sick at your stomach when you prepare for months and have a great draft but lose one of your starting receivers in the 1st week (if he's out that is). Oh boy!
I just lost Smith and Rogers, my #1 & #3 WR. Congratulations, Toomer, you're my new #1.The horror...the horror...the horror. :bag:

So do we like Colbert here or not yet? Regardless of the medical debate (broken) here, this should be an opportuniy for Keary to step up.Opinions?
Good question. Colbert looked great in preseason:Game 1: 3 for 131 yards, 2 TDGame 2: 1 for 18Game 3: 1 for 19Game 4: 3 for 109, 1 TDI've been high on Colbert for some time; I was touting him coming out of college. He has great hands and runs excellent routes. I think he will be starting opposite Muhsin right away. Will he be worth picking up. I'm not sure.

I knew he was finished as soon as I saw his reaction.Leaves me with Andre Johnson at WR1, Branch at WR2 then Fitzgerald or Kennison at WR3. Not terrible, but not great. Especially if Johnson doesn't pan out like I expect...

Da Guru was the first to report the Smith injury seconds after it occurred, but one of the mods didn't like his subject line and deleted the thread.

To those who lost Smith it really isn't that bad. It's not like you lost an RB. Grab Ced Wilson vs. the Saints and you're set for next week. :football:

Yea this injury now leaves me with a potential lineup of Coles at 1 Mushin at 2 and Fitz at 3..not the best.

well i have picked up proehl where available, but now thinking about the potential of colbert being the better pick....thoughts...

That sucks ####. I hate to see a guy get injured, even when he's not on my team. I want to see the star players out there every week.

With Rogers and Galloway out, Im looking at Rod Smith, D Terrell and D Bennett! But, thats why I spend on xtra RBs and QBs (two qb league). That said, bad news on the Smith front it sounds like. He was someone I really wanted but just didnt get in any drafts. Broken fibula HAS to be most of the year, right?

Can we make moves in Chake yet, or is there some super-secret Chem X 10-minute window when we are supposed to do it?

The staff has been hot tonight. You'd have to be paying very close attention to know that there have been about 10 Smith injury posts. They keep getting deleted in under two minutes. "Da Guru" keeps posting new ones and then #####ing about his old ones getting the ax. to the staff keeping the boards litter free.

Your ####### welcome.

Figures, Alexander owners with their hundred yard days and 8 tds get a bone bruise and I get this.

It's pretty sad how some people will waste all of our time in a pathetic quest for attention. But again, thanks for being a solid moderator and deleting stupid posts.

actually it is an 8 minute window...

My big time 'break out' reciever for the year has done just that. This is why I Hate fanatasy football. :hot: :hot: :hot: It makes you hate football injurys because it hurts your fantasy team instead of because it's bad for the game.

That happened to me yesterday with MoMo. Probably just too busy. It worked after a while.

well if it's anything like Vick's injury I'd assume he'd be out until around week 12 at least. May not be worth stashing on my roster as I'm sure to need someone to play from his spot between now and then. The waiver wire has more potential to find a gem now than later.

In case you didn't realize, Smith broke out last year (88 receptions, 1110 yds, and 7 TDs).

Was Colbert even active tonight? I have him in a deep league, but Hankton and Magnum were playing. Got to believe Colbert has more upside than either of those two.

Just keep hitting "refresh". It'll go through eventually.

Well some of those Alexander owners are ALSO Smith owners. My 1st and 3rd roud picks to be exact. And by the way, losing Smith in a start 3 WR, +1 per reception league is NOT easy to replace, even if you know what you are doing.

Is it premature to update Muhammad here. Everyone's talking about Colbert and Prohl.Muhammad looked good last night and was a stud in the post season last year. He was 100 reception guy at one point than played for a series of terrible teams/QBs. Last year he was overshadowed by smith's great year.Does he have 100 yards/6Tds in him?

How many of you slotted Steve Smith in your 20k contest? Cuz you know you also had Charles Rogers too. Things are getting bleak already - and it's only 1 week into the season.

I don't see why -- Muhammad was productive over the last 8 weeks last year. He still has the goods. If Mush can produce, it will help me tremendously, as I lost Charles Rogers (my intended WR1!) for the season.

Never before have I drafted the same player in all 3 leagues that I'm in. This year? Yep, you guessed it. Steve Smith! :wall: In my biggest money league, I also had SA with no Morris handcuff.Well, I won't say my season's over, but I'm gonna need some luck. Not much available on waivers.Wish we had some sort of timetable or if they are putting him on IR. More importantly though, I feel bad for the dude. And the Panthers in general. I really think Smith would have had to be the catalyst for the offense this year, at least until their O-line got it together. The Panthers aren't my favorite team by any stretch, but they're a team that I can't dislike. Too many good things going on there. And Delhomme is a great story.

Is there a reason behind the Colbert being inactive thing? I can't see why they would keep a high draft pick off the roster. Is Prohl that much better? That guy never really showed me much.

the first thing that popped into my mind when i saw Smith hit the deck was "Jason Kendall".

seeing his leg bend like that, and it looked like his ankle was trying to push through the sock, reminded me of seeing Kendall blow out his ankle vs. the Brewers on the 4th of July a couple years ago

coupled with the shrieking made for some intereseing television.. sheesh

tough break for Smith owners.
