Steve Smith (NYG) to Philly (1 Viewer)

big jump for Manningham here. Nicks, I think he was already going to get his regardless, but Manningham is now the clear #2.

What is the deal with Maclin? This can't be good. What does this do for D-Jax?

It could just mean Philly saw a chance to get another target for Vick midseason at a bargain price. Not sure. Holding out hope Maclin's OK.

dont forget that smith is still dinged up. he may not be able to contribute until mid season...

the maclin mystery remains unsolved, thats for sure. i agree this adds some spice to that situation.

I'm surprised by this. The Post was just reporting this morning that Smith and the Giants were finalizing a new deal. I wonder what went wrong.

Smith must be really dinged up if the G-men are willing to trade in division, to the Eagles.....
No trade, he was a FA.1 year $4 million, $2million guaranteed. I'm guessing the Giants weren't offering guaranteed money.

After not signing Smith Coughlin said Smith was in for the long haul in regards to his recovery.

So does this actually effect anyone?

Maybe the Eagles dont like what they've been getting out of Avant?

I dont see this affecting Maclin, as Smith and Maclin are two very different players.

I think Philly feels it's worth the gamble of getting a player with Smith's talent so cheap and it hurts their main division rival.

Eagles rave about Avant. I think it's mainly a great addition at the right price for a few games into the season when Smith is to be healthy.

If it was directly related to Maclin I think they would have targeted a WR that will be ready to go now.

:goodposting: I think this is important. Low cost/risk, high potential move which simultaneously takes an all-star WR from the (in my opinion) the 2nd best team in the division.

Pretty odd that either:

1) The NYG couldn't or wouldn't match that offer (which is pretty cheap)

or

2) Smith had no interest to return to the NYG and took less money to play in Philly

Smith claims the Eagles wanted him more.

Giants are about $3.9 million under the cap. So they could have matched, unless they have more plans or need the money for Osi. Sad day for Giant fans.

Even if he never plays a down for the eagles. He now won't play a down for giants. Have to think the giants thought they'd get him cheap based on his health. Crushing blow IMO to the receiving corps in NY. Without knowing targets, guessing they lost their #3 and #4 pass catchers this offseason. Not much else out there to fill this gap this late.

The source told CSN Philly's Reuben Frank that Smith's addition "has absolutely nothing" to do with Maclin, who's yet to practice in Eagles camp. Another club source told Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News that the move is "no reflection on Jeremy."

While that's probably true, I can't imagine even an anonymous source who regularly talks to local reporters would dish the dirt on Maclin if something were really wrong with him.

I think this hurts more emotionally than it will hurt on the field this season.

Has any player in the history of the NFL who had micro fracture surgery come back and as productive as they were before the injury in their 1st season back for the surgery? (That was a mouthful)

Well my WRs in 1 dynasty league are turning out to be terrible now.

Anyway, who is the NYG WR behind Manningham to get now?

Didn't Colston have it a while back? I thought this was his second one.

I think this is bigger news for Beckum...
He's nursing hamstring injury. Don't know who else G-men would trot out there.
is Ramses Barden still around?
Barden is still around but he is on the PUP list right now.Don't sleep on Dominic Hixon, he is coming back from his own knee injury but he has been in the system for a while now

Colston 1st was to his kneecap. Not weight bearing like the articular surface SS had done.
