Steve Smith - NYG (1 Viewer)

From Rotoworld:

"Steve Smith was forced to leave Thursday's practice after straining his pectoral muscle reaching for the ball.

Beat writer Mike Garafolo notes that Smith tried to continue but was unable to practice through the injury. There's no word on the severity just yet, but Smith is being sent for tests. Mario Manningham will be a top-25 fantasy option this week if the injury forces Smith to sit"

"Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride suggested Thursday that Steve Smith is in danger of missing this week's game after straining his pectoral muscle in practice.

Gilbride spoke of Smith's value in drawing extra defensive attention. "It's a huge loss but we'll make do," Gilbride said. The Giants are still awaiting the test results, but it doesn't look good for Smith's chances of playing in Week 10. Mario Manningham would move into the starting lineup with Ramses Barden as the third receiver."

Coordinator Kevin Gilbride suggested that Ramses Barden will not have a major role even if Steve Smith (pectoral) misses Sunday's game.

"We'll rotate and move guys so we're not pigeon holed with one guy," said Gilbride. "Depending on what the route is and what we're asking with the play, we can move different people in there." Keep Barden on the waiver wire. He'll split snaps with Duke Calhoun and H-back Travis Beckum.

If Smith is in fact out this week, this might mean more opportunities for Boss and with Gates on a bye this week he might not be a bad start this week. Thoughts?????

Boss may need to be kept in to block more with two starting Olinemen out.I expect Beckum to get a few passes and Bradshaw to see more. I wouldn't consider Beckum or Boss more than a desperation start.
