Steven Jackson tonight (1 Viewer)

Badgers Fan

He's on the edge of having one more big year or falling off the cliff. His numbers look good, so anyone watching the game, does he seem healthy and have more quickness, or is this just bad defense by the chiefs?

he should have a big year. what he's done tonight is irrelevant but the St Louis offense should be solid overall with Bradford opening a lot of lanes for him.

I think he has looked pretty good, they gave him the ball for like the first 6 or 7 plays of the game. The offensive line looked much better run blocking this week vs. last week and that helped a lot. It definitely has not been him making all the plays by himself, but he seems to be running well with decent quickness.

I love Steven Jackson, it is his jersey that I wear on Sundays... But he no longer has the speed that helped make him a stud. He may not have more than one run over 20 yards this year, so he may not even get to 4.0 ypc.

He still looks powerful, so he'll still get the goal line carries, and he'll still get plenty of touches overall, so he'll get his yards.... But he is now an accumulator instead of a producer.

One final RB2 year this year, then it is committee time in 2012 and beyond.

I thought he looked great yesterday. Running hard, even in the preseason. Completely disagree with Mr. Fingertip about the possibility of him not having more than one run over 20 yards this year, but to each his own. The run blocking looks infinitely superior to what the team had last year, and one year removed from back surgery, Action Jackson looks sharp.

So does his 25 yard run last night count as the one? :)

I haven't watched Jackson in a while - but he looks huge out there. Possibly bigger than linemen. He looked like the 7'4" running back you create in Madden when you're bored.

ooops, facts!

Lol

Allow me to amend my statement:

Steven Jackson will not break nearly enough long runs (however you would like to define them) to make him the stud he once was. He has very clearly lost his top end speed, and that will certainly lower his fantasy ceiling. Where once he was a threat to take it to the house when he broke through the Dline, now that turns into 8-15 yards instead.

He doesn't suddenly just stink, he is still good... Just no longer close to elite. If he gets a huge workload and double digit TDs he will be top ten in fantasy. I'm not convinced the Rams want to give him that kind of workload, especially in the passing game.
