Steven Jackson (1 Viewer)

What happened? The Cowboys were getting killed and I didnt get to see the end of the game.......

He finally has an awesome game and he is out again......

How can they already know this?

I haven't even really seen where the actual injury was disclosed. The discussion in the injury thread made it seem like it wasn't serious.

Please tell me this didn't happen with the Rams using Jackson late in the game of a blowout....
That IS exactly what happened. Haslet is an idiot! Your STUD RB works his tail off the whole game and you keep him in when you're up 34-7. Totally uncalled for IMO. Only when he gets up limping does Haslet sit him down! Freakin Moron!

Dumb decision yes, definately. But at least it's not anything too major, only 2-3 weeks. It's not like St. Louis was going to contend for the playoffs anyway.

Do we know what he hurt?

If it's a minor hip/quad strain, I wouldn't be overly concerned. But if it's his groin, considering how that lingered last year ...

Steven Jackson rushed 25 times for 160 yards and three touchdowns in Week 7 against the Cowboys before leaving in the fourth quarter with a possible injury.

Jackson waved to the fans as he headed to the locker room with about five minutes remaining and the Rams were up 34-7, so the potential injury doesn't look serious. He was fantastic before leaving, scoring from short yardage twice in the first half before breaking free for a 56-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Oct. 19 - 3:57 pm et

I still don't understand how Bulger can make that determination directly after the game. He's not the trainer or a doctor, so I can't fathom how he'd be able to make a diagnosis and know the duration Jackson might be out 5 minutes after the game is over.

if true, whos the backup? Minor or Pittman?
Minor, unless Pittman is ready to return next week.
Thu, Oct 16 RB Antonio Pittman (leg), who did some limited work in practice Wednesday, did not participate Thursday with the team in full pads. Pittman is expected to be able to play Oct. 26 against New England.(Yahoo! Sports)

Why would he make it up? I doubt he says a word about Jackson unless he knows something firsthand. The team is probably not very eager to say anything official themselves given how stupid they look for having Jackson out there that late in a blowout.

I'm curious as to how Bulger would know how significant the injury is and make a determination on how long Jackson could potentially be out. I guess I'm just a nervous owner who was all giddy about my guy having a big game and then coming down with an injury because he was still on the field long after the game had been decided.

From what I saw SJax was injured in the groin area  . The trainers un did his pants and where checking something out in that area. He did walk off the field and back to the lower room with his pants undone with about 4 minutes left in the game.

Here is all I could find on Jackson's injury. "Rams' Jackson hopes for thigh bruise

October 19, 2008 5:20 PM

Posted by ESPN.com's Mike Sando

ST. LOUIS -- Rams running back Steven Jackson was hopeful that the thigh injury he suffered against the Cowboys would be only a bruise.

Jackson will undergo additional tests. He was walking in the locker room without an obvious limp. He said that gave him hope that the thigh was only bruised."

Here is the link: http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nfcwest/0-4-213...igh-bruise.html

Thigh bruise is what it looked like when it happened. I own Jackson in both of my money leagues and wasn't worried when it happened, it looked like nothing and he looked fine on the sidelines.

Hope it doesn't end up being worse.

If true how come no other places are reporting this. Need a link.....
Here you go. Doesn't sound serious, but imagine he'll be questionable all week, pending the MRI results. From AP:
Jackson pulled a quadriceps muscle in the fourth quarter just before Haslett said he was going to take him out, and was to undergo an MRI. But Jackson thought he’d be fine for next week’s game at New England.

“It’s a little tight,” Jackson said. “I’m able to walk and I’m able to bend it, so that’s a good sign.”

yeah, I fell when I read the thread title, too.

STLToday is the St. Louis Post Dispatch's web site. Bernie Miklasz is a sports writer for the paper and has his own forum. Here is what he has said:

Other Rams said they heard a pop...

It's a pulled or strained quad, at least.

MRI tomorrow...

they seem concerned.

Haslett was going to take him out before the next series, so he's kicking himself.

Jackson doesn't think it's a big deal... thinks he'll be OK... "It is just a little tight, but I am able to walk and move it so it's a good sign, they (doctors) said."

We'll see.
