Steven Jackson (1 Viewer)

jackson got his $$$$$, he knows haslett is at best iffy to keep the job, the season is virtually over, if HE doesn`t feel 100% he`s not going to play. P S I got him at 1/9 and was happy but except for 1 or 2 weeks been fairly poor. i`d say this week is a 1 in 3 chance <_<
A win this week and they are only 1 game out of first place.

the rest of that article with SJax's statements isn't quite as negative... Basically, he feel alot better- he's taking it easy so as not to tweak it and will test it Sunday.... All we can do is wait- but he was getting on a roll as were the rams, so it would be nice to have him out there.

your anti-whatever is shining through here. haslett has this defense playing completely different. is almost 3-0 (sans losing by a TD in New England).yeah, the season is virtually over. 9 more weeks to go. they are two games out, and they face the first place team for the first time this year at home. a win and they are game out of first, and have a leg up on the tiebreaker. ARIx2, SFx2, SEA, NYJ, MIA ATL, CHI. Wow.. a doozy of a schedule. The best teams in there are a game over .500.

sjax has a lot to play for. after all, he coulda asked to of been pulled in the idiotic 4th qtr stunt.

i'm not a rams fan, but will at least profess to somewhat knowledge, much less sane. your comments are downright idiotic regarding the Rams season.

FWIW, at least Pittman seems to be a viable replacement / handcuff. With SJAX upside potential - especially during the playoffs - if your team is in a good position now, you can ride out one, two, possibly three games where SJAX's ##### hurts and Pittman could help you in 2 of those 3 games... but should SJAX be healthy during the playoffs, it may win some championships.

Risk reward... and Pittman mitigates that risk a good bit at least.

The Rams’ three iffy starters — RB Steven Jackson (thigh), DE Leonard Little (hamstring) and DT Adam Carriker (ankle) — are seeing their most extensive action of the week this morning at Rams Park.

Jackson is taking about half the reps with the first team.

Little and Carriker, who have done little work in the team drills all week, are getting in for a fair number of snaps, too. Little in particular looks good.

Coach Jim Haslett has said all three will be game-time decisions, and that probably won’t change today. Of course, we’ll let you know if it does.

All for now . . . more after practice.

The problem is that most people that drafted SJax in the first round isn't in a great position right now because of the way SJax started, the league I have him in I'm 4-4 and can't afford to lose a whole lot more games. Pittman's a decent handcuff but I can't see him blowing up like SJax can and win games for you single handedly.

Hate to be a downer but (from Rotoworld)...

Steven Jackson (quadriceps) was limited in practice for the third straight day Friday and will be a game-time decision Sunday versus Arizona.

S-Jax saw increased reps at the start of practice, but did "nothing" in the second half of the workout and it sounds like the Rams shut him down. That doesn't seem to bode well. "It’s the same (as last week)," coach Jim Haslett said. "We’ll work him out right before the game, and hopefully he’ll be able to go." The game has a 1PM ET start, so we'll know whether Jackson or Antonio Pittman will start early. Check back Sunday morning.

Thanks for the info, I'm not sure if that's a downer but it sounds pretty much the same. It is possible that they held him out of the 2nd half so he could rest his quad though, not because it wasn't feeling good. I can't stand this GTD crap though!

True enough - but it's better than having absolute crap as a handcuff at least going forward if you are in a position to compete with his poor start.

Well crap. It just doesn't sound like he is a safe play. I was looking forward to a tasty RB lineup this week of Stephen Jackson vs Arizona and Matt Forte vs Detroit. :goodposting:

However, I am lucky enough to have Earnest Graham available on my bench. Great matchup @KC and Dunn is likely limited. No brainer - in goes Graham and Jackson takes a rest. Get well soon, Stephen! :topcat:

Thank you so much...I was wondering how your team would deal with this injury.

A bit more postive spin from ESPN:

Jackson (quad) seemed upbeat and positive about his chances to play in Week 9 against Arizona, the Post-Dispatch reports.Spin: Despite head coach Jim Haslett saying Jackson was going to be a game-time decision it sounded more like Jackson would more than likely suit up. "The strength is there. So now, we'll just get some of the on-field work," Jackson said. "These last two days felt pretty good. I'm practicing to play, if that tells you anything." Clearly this is something you'll want to follow up through game time but if you had to make a decision now we'd tell you to put him in your lineup and hope he doesn't suffer any setbacks in the next two days.

Sorry, I realize that I was a bit smug there. I neglected to mention that Graham has a Wk10 bye, so if Jackson is still having problems next week I start to clench up a bit. The Dunn woes have been a gift to Graham owners this week, so I slipped it in there. In a league like mine, where we only get one backup for each position, being able to call on a guy like Graham and have him with a good situation is somewhat abnormal, so I have been beating my chest. I'll stop now.

Don't worry about it. Duece just wants you to be impressed with his sarcasm, over played as it is. He is a 4-digiter after all!!

Jackson will play. This game is way too important for the Rams to sit him with a sore thigh. He'll play, and he'll play well.

Unless he has a serious setback during practice tomorrow, I will be downright shocked if he doesn't play in this game.

Superstar RBs who practice all three days of the week don't sit on gameday.

I made this assumption last week. Although, as it was pointed out earlier in this thread, St. Louis is only one game out in the NFC West if they win this game.

what`s the EARLY read on week 11 for Jackson?
Not good. KFFL is quoting Mort as saying he's already been ruled unlikely to play in week 11. When asked after the game yesterday about whether he'd be ready for next week, Haslett said he had "no idea.";)

Great... next week is a sweet matchup against the Niners... not trying to make this an ACF thread but is it time to deal this guy? He actually has some keeper league value but I'm trying to be patient...

Hold Jackson in redraft formats, it it's likely you will get in. If you need to win now, sell him, but not sure how much help he'll bring in a trade. In dynasty or keeper formats, hold til he plays, then sell if you want. He's a stud when healthy, could just be an unlucky injury streak.

I'm guessing he'll be held out of practice all week and then try to give it a go on Friday. If he can go all out then he'll play. If not, then he'll sit again.

Sounds about right, although I wouldn't be surprised if behind the scenes Haslett is pushing him to suck it up considering how embarrassed he and the team was on Sunday.

I hope he just shuts it down for a week and tries to heal. He has some nice playoff week matchups (14-16: ARZ, SEA, SF) and it would be nice to have him healthy by then and not playing through a nagging injury.I bet a news update comes out late today or Wed, but the early indications are that he will sit out the week 11 game against SF.

Out to Heal

by Steven Jackson

I want nothing more than to be on the field today helping my teammates against the Jets, but I'm just not where I need to be with my quad muscle. This week, the best way for me to help the team is to sit this one out. But don't worry, this is a team game and I have some of the hardest working and most talented teammates in the NFL. I know they will give it everything they have today for a victory!

I'm doing everything I can to get healthy, and I hope to be back on the field next weekend. Go Rams!

SJ

That's from his website. He mentions that he hopes to be ready next weekend. Whatever that means. I doubt we hear anything truly relevant until Friday. If he's a full go on Friday then he'll play.

Give everything and still lose 47-3...lol

man, good thing they didn`t mail it in, could have been ugly

Practiced on a limited basis, and Haslett said he has to have a full practice to play this week.

Rotowire thinks he's on the "good side" of questionable - which means he won;lt play this weekend. :goodposting:

Seriously, though, I am hoping for a full practice tomorrow, no setbacks Friday, another full practice Saturday, and watch him tear up the 9ers. Otherwise, I hope he has another limited practice tomorrow and Friday and they shut him down for another week.

Don't care which, but I want his first game back to be a fully healthy game.

SJax Back at Practice

by Ryan Eletto

After sitting out last weekend's game against the New York Jets due to a healing quad, Steven was able to return to the practice field on Wednesday.

While it's too early to say for sure, signs seem to be pointing toward a return for No. 39 for the Rams’ game this Sunday at San Francisco.

“Steven worked better today,’’ coach Jim Haslett said. “That’s all I can tell you. We’ll see how he is tomorrow. We’ll work him tomorrow, and then hopefully make a decision. I knew it’s a lot better, but is it good enough? I don’t know that yet.’’

Steven played at about three-quarters speed, and shared the first-team carries with backup RB Antonio Pittman. SJax hopes that within the next few days he’ll be back up to full strength. Haslett does too:

“He needs to go tomorrow, and he has to kind of open it up and go,’’ Haslett said.

DECISION BY THURSDAY

Like last week, Haslett mandated that No. 39 have at least one full-tilt practice before Sunday in order to be cleared to play. Haslett also said he would most likely make a definite decision on Jackson’s status by Thursday, according to the Chicago Tribune.

For Rams fans and SJax fans, a Steven sighting at Wednesday’s practice has to be an encouraging sign.

Wow this is ridculous - its only a muscle strain - meanwhile Reggie Bush will be back from surgery
I'm waiting for him to post on his website that he's shutting it down for the year. It begs the question,if hedidn't get this extension and was playing for a new contract, would he be out there?

One would have to guess he would be out there trying to gut it out. Those factors and the fact that the team is hopelessly out of the playoffs definitely seems to remove the sense of urgency on his part.
