Stick a fork in Cruz (1 Viewer)

To those expressing concerns about knee-jerk reactions, I think that's the point of this thread...and is clearly revealing itself. The satire isn't completely lost on folks who followed the game thread last night.

I know the SP is all about Serious Business this time of the year, but in the context of the histrionics to cruz's subpar effort in the game thread, the common practice of over-reacting to one game needed to be explored a bit.

Only if you dont understand fantasy football and refuse to use the Banzai Method.
Ok boss. Glad you have that all figured out, enjoy your 16 man roster where only 4 people actually matter. Ill stick to my 20 man rosters where everyone matters and whoever is the most knowledgeable wins everytime, as opposed to the guy that drafted the guy at the top of their list.
Is there anything worse than a bunch of people flexing their muscles and talking trash about their fantasy football league's scoring system? If you're in a ppr league and you like it - fine.If you're in a non ppr league and you like it - fine.
Yeah, this kinda stuff seems to be pandemic on these boards right now. Apparently if a person's opinion is different than another person's, its not open to discussion or possible to find truth in each side. Instead, someone has to be wrong. Egregiously wrong. Wrong to the point where its mandated that one side must employ belittling sarcasm. I'm glad the season is here. This is the first season that I spent the entire off-season here and these last few weeks have been brutal. Seems like people have mentally dug trenches and jumped in their fox holes and every player is not discssed anymore, they are defended. And everyone has a stake in THEIR players so the defenses are extreme. If you don't agree with someone's opinion, well then, you are wrong sir, and they are going to let you know it! :lmao: It's well past time for the season to start so that reality can start unfolding and maybe people can unwind a bit. I enjoy the discussions on these boards when they remain discussions but I think next year I may cut out a bit early; before most people have their drafts, just so I can enjoy the true discussions and avoid the "Your opinion is wrong because mine is right and pay no attention to the man behind the curtain...me being right has NOTHING to do with the fact that I just drafted him last night!

It has become a watered down joke. You used to be able to come in and truly get some great info....now almost every thread becomes a troll infested my #### is bigger than yours back and forth. It's a joke.Later.

Very :goodposting:

It was not always like this. We have a bunch of mornic boneheads in here. It is actually like much of what you see at a football game on Sunday. A bunch of drunk, boneheaded carnies.

Cracks me up.

Should I drop Eli? Tebow/Sanchez on wire. RG3 is backup. 6 pt passing TDs.

Thanks.

It's too early to react in any way but I am ever so slightly concerned that the Giants only hung 17 points on the Cowboys. I get that they are better on the defensive side of the ball but still, fantasy players are fairly invested in this offense...

The Cowboys corners were playing at an elite level. Claiborne is legit, and Carr is a top level CB in the league. When Jenkins comes back, assuming he can get back to his rookie form, their secondary will have gone from one of the worst, to arguably THE best. The Giants won't face that every week.

I'm actually the opposite; I think I'll be sending out offers for all the Giants skill positions after this performance as I think they'll be fine for most of the season. Cruz is going to make most of those plays, Nicks' foot will be healthier, and it becomes an entirely different story IMO.

:goodposting: Everyone but Bradshaw. I would be looking to sell him, personally.

He had a solid game. He just wasn't able to break a touchdown on one of those grabs. He's dangerous enough to break a touchdown on one of these every two or three games. He can't have a 95 yard flukey touchdown every game.
If having three drops is solid ..then yes I guess he did.

I like how Eli was looking for him inside the 5. Overall, factoring in targets he could have another big year.

It's one game. Plus, the Cowboys defense looked great, and the Giants won't be facing defenses that good every week. Not to mention that their offense is not the Packers, Saints or Patriots, offenses you expect big production out of almost every week. They'll be fine.

Don't forget the Lions

In the future can we move threads like this to the Week 1 overreaction thread? TYIA.
Yikes, what do people think now?The Giants looked a little better last week, but Cruz still did not do much, he got a TD, that was the main thing. 6/3/36/1 isn't exactly exciting though. Eli & Cruz get the worst pass defense in the league in the Skins now. The last big game Cruz had was 5 weeks ago against WAS, 11/7/131/1 with a 77 yard TD pass (late, at under 2 minutes left he was 6/54/0).Since:2/23/0 - Dal5/67/0 - Pit3/26/0 - Cin3/36/1 - GBThat 6/58/0 week 1 performance vs Dal looks closer to the norm than the exception now.Besides WAS game 1 the big games have been vs TB and PHI. And those look different in context now too.In games like CLE the TDs have been the difference makers. How long does this go on? Or does it improve this week? I'm a little surprised there hasn't been more discussion on this...

Cruz is top 10 WR

11 games played

4 above average games

2 average games

5 below average games

I was hoping for better consistency in the 2nd half here in my FF playoff run, for sure. That week2-week7 stretch Cruz was tied with AJ Green for #1 FF WR. Looking at the NYG schedule over the next 4 weeks, I have to believe Cruz will return to Top 5 WR production instead of the recent duds, I just have to. I have faith in NYG and Eli to play well and Cruz has to be a part of that.

Are his ridiculous Chunky Soup commercials going national, or just here in the NYC area?

I've noticed a correlation between them airing, and the dropoff in production. They are as pathetic as McNabb's ... and Victor's mom looks a complete fool in them, to boot. Cue the "rice n' bean" references up in there ... :lmao:

CHUNKY SOUP CURSE!!?11!?

Here's a little Victor Cruz trivia. Scroll down for the answers.

1. Who was the last rookie WR to score 3 TDs in one preseason game, BESIDES Victor Cruz against the Jets?

2. What other WR has a 3 TD game this year?

3. When he wears that blue and red knitted cap, on the sidelines, who does he look like?

a1) Terell Owens scored 3 TDs as a rookie, in a presason game.

a2) I know someone else has a 3 TD game this year, I can't remember. Besides Cruz. He has a 3 TD game .... but there's another guy on the year that has a 3 TD game and I can't remember. Google it. Amendola maybe? I'm pretty sure there was another guy .... of all the other guys in the NFL ... that caught 3 TDs in one game, besides Victor Cruz, this year.

a3)

- I love Victor ... I'm a big Giants fan ... but he does look kinda like Dave Chapelle. Wanan know what's weird? I'd like to do bong hits with Cruz, and throw the football around or something with Dave Chapelle. Do something to get outta the house .... stop smokin weed and watching Showtime.

New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks said one of the bye-week tweaks the offense made was using him more in the slot, which frees him from double teams. Nicks had five receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown in Week 12.

Now doesn't Cruz play the slot? Maybe this change will spark somthing

What's important to understand is that the Giants WR corps is deeper than anyone else in the league. You saw the 49ers response to last year, signing Manningham and Moss. There's no doubt that Mario was a great WR for the Giants ... but right now, behind Nicks and Cruz you have ...Dominick HixonI forgot he was on the team. This guy is a serious veteran, I always liked his speed and hands. Always gets hurt though. His fantasy relevance is quickly fading.Ramses BardenGiants moved up to get him in the 3rd round of the 2009 draft. I'm sure he's provided a lot of value to the team, but he doesn't have much fantasy value.Reuben Randle2nd round, 2012 draft. Dynasty value ... mostly ... mostly. No, I think the Giants are very happy with how Randle is progressing.and ... Jerrel Jernigan. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.Oh yeah, and of course you've got Bennett out there as another receiving threat. Pascoe can catch too. "Make 'em go to Pascoe, make 'em go to Manningham.", famous last words.

Off the top of my head, Both Jordy Nelson and Colston have had 3TD games this year.

Also from RW
Cruz has now been held to fewer than three catches and 36 yards in three of his past four games.
I don't think anyone is viewing WAS as a gutsy start - he's still 100% started according to CBS, and he's facing the best WR matchup in FF - but this is a play-in week for a lot of owners and if not now then when.Last year I remember Cruz doing better once he came out of the slot to go wide. But he seems like a more natural fit there (slot) than Nicks. This really may just be an Eli issue to begin with. The only thing missing from last year is Manningham.

Cruz and the coaches had said that he was having difficulty with how physical defenders were being with him. Also he has been seeing more double teams since Nicks has been hurt. Part of the emphasis after the bye was to get back to basics, the WRs did extra work on techniques to beat press coverage and worked on their timing with Manning.
