Still no calls for Corey Dillon? (1 Viewer)

Anyone think he may sign with a team. More RBs are going down w/ injuries. I think he may be a sneaky FA pick up.

Thoughts/comments/news?

The Saints need Dillon badly, so long as he has something left in the tank. He'll have to manufacture a lot of his own yards behind a poor line ... not sure he can still do that.

I'm pretty sure I've heard Dillon is content in his retirement. I don't know if an 0-3 team calling him up is going to change that.

If Morency cannot make it through practice without more pain on Thursday...Id love for the Packers to give him a call...just to get some veteran presence back there in the backfield.

is there actually any news on the Dillon front or is this just one poster's speculation???? (there's nothing wrong with speculation, just wondering)

Dillion would add very little to the Packers offense. They are going to rotate 4 RBs all year long and play the hot hand. Morency will be back soon, Wynn and Jackson have showed flashes and will get better as the year goes on.

Morency could be back soon...or he could be shut down since he cannot make it through a practice without feeling soreness.Dillon can pick up the blitz and I would think if they had a solid vet like him, they may have tried a run on 4th and goal from the 1.Jackson has not shown much of a flash. Wynn on a few plays has. Grant looks ok.But this is a 3-0 team that actually has a surprising chance to compete not only for a playoff spot, but do some damage in the NFC playoffs. A veteran presence cannot hurt. Im not saying the guy is the key to the puzzle or anything terrific. but if Morency pulls up sore again this week after practicing...the Packers have the cap room...why not take a chance?

Dillion can pick up the blitx but that is the only edge he has on these young guys. Issue with the running game is the OLs play right now more than the young talent at RB. Last year it started out slow also, and now teams are going to have to contend with a strong passing game so the running game should find more holes as long as the line steps up.

I think its a little bit of both. with the line play and RB play.Again...this is only if Morency does not look like he can make it back.

If I'm Corey Dillon, the only situation I come back for is if Addai goes down in Indy. Kenton Keith is not going to cut it, and he'll have more than a legit shot at winning again. And sticking it to the Patriots in the process.

No way! Dillon wouldn't pull a Johnny Damon on us!

But why would he want to stick it to the Patriots? He left on good terms and was appreciative of being taken out of Cincinnati.

That would be the smart move. The Bears, Packers and Saints should all be calling him right now too. I'm not sure he has anything left in the tank but I think he's better than Adrian Peterson, Aaron Stecker and the collection of stiffs the Packers keep trotting onto the field. It's sure worth a look to find out.

Can anyone name a 30-something RB that was out of football for a 1/4 of the season and then came back and made an appreciable impact fantasy-wise?

I'm not saying it hasn't happened, I'm just wondering if it has.

Did Ricky Watters?

Edit to add: I thought I remembered something about him doing it, but maybe it was just talk and never happened. Too lazy to check on my own supposition.

Name another RB that scored 13 TDs the year before he retired. He will get called it is just a matter if he wants to play for the Saints.

This is clipped from Corey's website from last month; but who knows? I hope he comes back! Really liked watching him play!Corey Dillon: 'Window closed' on return Thursday, August 09, 2007RotoworldCorey Dillon says "the window is closed" and there "is no doubt in (his) mind" that his playing days are through."I haven't announced it publicly," Dillon told the Boston Globe. "But I will not play football again. If I really wanted to, I think I could run for 800, 900 yards. I'd share carries, or take the load if needed. But for me, the risk is way greater than the reward. (The AFC Championship) was the last game I played."

How old was Ricky Waters when he returned from a hiatus?
