It's so nice as a Gates owner to see his performance today (so far: 105 yrds, 2 TDs) after 3 mediocre weeks. Despite those weeks, Gates remains the most consistent TE performer (though it's true this year Winslow is giving him a good run for his money.) Just as he was in the beginning of hte season, Antonio should be an extremely valuable diffeence maker in mandatory TE leagues for those owners lucky enough to have him. Look at the FF playoff schedule:

Week 14 At Tennesee

Week 15 Detroit

Week 16 Denver

This looks pretty promising to me. Plus, the Chargers will be fighting for a playoff spot and the division title the rest of the way, so Gates will continue to be a major target. He may end up a strong contributor to your championship run!

No thanks. I like Witten's consistency. He is ahead of your boy right now in points in my league (today's results not withstanding). I don't like players that disappear for weeks at a time. Yes, he is an incredible talent, but 'the best', I am not so sure about that.

Witten has been crucial in my run towards a reg season title and he's not that far behind Gates in scoring

Gates had an average ADP of a third or early fourth round pick...of course he is detrimental to many fantasy squads. As far as talent level goes, he is definately the best TE in the league. The recents 'struggles' of his can be tied to Rivers and the offense as a whole.

As far as value this year, Witten and Winslow take the cake.

:excited: Gotta like that outlook for the playoffs. Although the Tennessee D is completely different with Haynesworth in there -- unbeleivable how much they suck without him.

just drafted an average of 10 rds later :excited:
Yup, drafted right after Alge Crumpler. Drafting a TE late might net you comparable value to Gates... but it might also net you Alge Crumpler. That's why Gates costs so much, because he's a sure thing.

No contest. Clearly the best.

Are you joking? Gates will finish the week with more fantasy points than all but 7 (or 8 depending on how Welker does tonight) wide receivers. So at a time in the draft where most people are grabbing their WR2 you just nabbed a guy who is performing as a WR1, but as an extra bonus on top of that you get to play him from a scarcer position (TE).

Easy there, I am a Gates backer. I am simply saying this year, hence the italics, Witten and Winslow had a better value in the draft. Why? Because drafting these other two TE's are putting up very comparable numbers at a MUCH cheaper price. As I said previously (which you left out), as far as talent goes...Gates is the best TE in the league. No contest.
