Stock Up Stock Down...So Far? (1 Viewer)

So we are almost 4 rounds through the draft, and there have been some surprises.

What guys have dodged bullets and are in a better postition than what we might have though they would be? Who has been hurt?

I'll start by wondering if Kevin Smith is going to get a real shot to run with the starting gig in Detroit. What about James Starks, no RB's for the Pack?

Down has to be Blount, S Sjax, and what about the Miami RB's?

Had a guy in my league drop Earl Bennett last night. Kind of a suprise to me because I don't think his value dropped at all, but some owners seem to think so.

UP:

Donald Brown

Ridley

Starks

Down:

Blount

Titus Young

Kendall Hunter

I don't see SJax as much of a downgrade. He is still in line for the bulk of the carries and having a second back to help shoulder the load doesn't hurt his production all that much.

Blackmon- Stock down. Would have been great to see him go to an NFL team.

Donald Brown/Delone Carter- Indy loaded up on offense but no new RB. No Addai. These guys are going to get to fight it out.

How about Shawne Greene and Bilal Powell. The Jets have a few picks in the 6/7 rounds, but they didn't grab a RB yet. I hate Greene, but I'm hoping they give Powell a shot at the job at some point this season.

Since NFL draft, rookie fantasy forecast:

Luck up

Martin up

Blackmon even

Floyd even

RGIII even

Wright even

Wilson down

Miller down

Richardson down

Looks like Chris Polk might not even be drafted. He was looking like a potential late 1st - mid 2nd dynasty rookie pick for sure.

I'm wondering about the Polk drop also. #4 RB on Bloom's 100 and undrafted so far . . . must be something we don't know . . .

and Pitt didn't draft RB early and a scatback late - suggests to me that they feel Redman can handle the load and, just possibly, Mendenhall gets back this year.

UP - I'd say Locker is a definite up, he won't have the same excuses (lack of surrounding talent) other young QB's like Bradford have had.

DOWN - Wright, Floyd and Jeffrey all goin to teams with established #1's.

Powell is a bum. Only reason the internet world thinks he is the future for the Jets is the ridiculous run he got on the forums here.

Down is burleson, not titus. Burleson has 1 year left in Detroit tops rumor was if he didnt re-negotiate his deal he was cut

Polk has a degenerative hip conditionTomlin: We feel "encouraged" by Mendenhall's rehab. "We haven't counted him out for start of the season ... big part of what we do."

I really like the Isaac Redman call. Took 2 O-lineman early and didn't get a feature-type RB. Very underrated.

Weird we are just now hearing about that.

Stock Up

McFadden - Raiders not drafting an RB is a huge vote of confidence

Lions RBs - Added Reiff and they didnt draft an RB...now just to figure out which one can stay healthy

Good post! Especially like the Donald Brown call, I'll add the Law Firm BJGE , Cincy didn't draft a RB till the fifth round and he's projected as a third string RB..

That is why I put Titus there instead of Burleson. Nate doesn't have much of a future in Detroit and his value was never more than a "throw in" anyway. Titus is a young guy who a lot of people like. Very few offenses can support 3 viable WRs starting in fantasy. Calvin is a lock to produce and Broyles/Young are similar caliber talents to me. Hurts Young's value more in my eyes. Now he needs to compete with another solid WR for snaps.

Wondering the same thing myself. Hadn't really heard about the condition or how severe it is or the current status of it. I was looking over the rounds of the draft and hadn't seen Polk's name and thought what's up with that. Just a short while ago he was a guy that looked like he could be a productive RB if he landed in a good spot. Hell, I took a shot at drafting him in the WSL survivor league over L.James,Pead,Pearce,Turbin. Yet he may NOT get drafted if his hip is a concern to teams. He surely should have been drafted by now one would think. Even if he doesn't get drafted pretty sure some team will take a chance on signing him after the draft. More so though I hope the kid is alright and that his hip doesn't squash his dream of playing in the NFL. That can be quite a blow to a young man when he's worked so hard to achieve his dream and then something completely out of his control devastates his opportunity to play the game he loves and has given so much of himself to. I really hope the kid at least gets the chance to play in the NFL.

My quick thoughts nobody will probably agree with. :hophead:

I'm sure he'll get a shot as a UDFA but it's understandable that no one would want to use a pick on him.

I like Jeffery for a couple of reasons: - the #1 WR he is behind is a total head case that gets run out of every city he goes to. The Bears could cut him after 2013 and save $8M off their cap.

- Cutler is a top 10 QB if he stays healthy.

I'll take my chances with Miller late in rookie first rounds. I don't think beating out Bush or Thomas will be too tough.

Heard Polk signed with the Iggles as a UDFA. Not a great landing spot, but if he can stay healthy, might be a pretty decent complement to Shady...
