Enough is enough. Our league just experienced yet ANOTHER screw up by LeagueSafe. When the site first opened, I was skeptical about using it to hold our league funds, but I gave it a chance. There were concerning moments here and there at the beginning, but I chalked that up to the new site and growing pains. Years later, after watching them screw up time and time again, we're ditching LeagueSafe and will find a service that is much more safe and secure.
Here is the latest in a long line of screw-ups. Our draft is tomorrow and all managers have been paid up for a couple of weeks. We had 14 managers, one of which had to pull out due to a draft scheduling conflict. All 14 had paid ($100 each) resulting in a $1400 league balance. The 14th manager left, and we requested a refund for him. Fast forward to today and I check the LS page...it has a $1200 balance. I triple check and it's showing 13 fully paid managers x $100 each = $1200...seriously? The response (which was quick, I'll give credit where it's due) was that it's due to a bug in their system that was removing refund balances. First off, it's pretty disconcerting that this site has 'bugs' that are removing funds from league accounts. Second, it's very disconcerting that they aren't even being fixed pro-actively...only when someone notices and complains about it.
If this were the only flub over the years, it would be no big deal. That's far from the case...keep reading below.
Issue #2: A few months back, I received an email from LS entitled "security review". Very long story short...9 months after one of our leagues ended, LeagueSafe allowed a manager to accidentally deposit an additional $50. This is during the offseason, NINE MONTHS after the league and payouts had completed. I have no idea how the deposit even happened...LS leagues close after the season ends, and it's doesn't even appear possible to deposit into an old league after a completed season. Yet it happened, likely due to some other glitch.
Issue #3: This was a couple years back, and is by far the most ridiculous glitch/screw up I can imagine a service like LeagueSafe making. Upon allocating payouts, the page timed out, likely due to a connection issue of some sort. I hit 'refresh' on my browser and the subsequent page showed the payouts that were just processed. To my horror, they were all wrong. Get this...3 of the 4 payouts were not only incorrect...THEY WERE TO MANAGERS NOT EVEN IN THE LEAGUE. That's right, my refresh caused some sort of glitch where the payouts were allocated to manager in a DIFFERENT league, from a PRIOR SEASON. Let me reiterate...LeagueSafe paid managers that weren't in this league. Managers that didn't even show up in the drop-down on the page where you choose managers for allocation. Managers I hadn't been in leagues with for years. You can imagine the pain in the #$$ that resulted, with me trying to explain to everyone where their money went. After a long process, LS finally sorted out the error and corrected the payouts. But seriously? Would you tolerate this sort of mistake from your credit card website? A refresh of the page resulting in your $ being transferred to another random person's account that you haven't talked to in years?
Issues #4, 5: We had two additional, more minor issues over the years, which both resulted from pages displaying incorrect information.
Some of these issues are absolutely pathetic for a website designed to HOLD AND PROTECT YOUR MONEY. Not to mention that if they can experience such heinous glitches after being around this many years, their site must be a hacker's wet dream. The latest issue is the straw that breaks the camel's back...we'll no longer be using LeagueSafe's services and I suggest you head for the hills as well. With glitches as major as some of the ones I described above, it's only a matter of time before a league's funds get completely wiped out due to their faulty systems.
