**Streaming Defense 2015** Week 15 - Playoffs: No time to get cute (1 Viewer)

Any D that's likely out there who has great playoff matchups to start thinking about grabbing and stashing now?
Yes, its something to be aware of.

But also realize that few teams are in a position where they would want to sacrifice a possible RB as depth.

I'm fortunate that I have (and always do) keep 5+ RBs.

I think I have one league with 4, but coming out of last weekend, do not forget the nastiness of the injuries that can take place.

I'm far more inclined to insure "appropriate" RB handcuffs and protection at this stage of the game, and possibly worry about an extra defense or two along about week 12, or possibly mid week in week 11.

That said, last year I believe it was week 12 where I did exactly as you are describing and snagged an extra defense.

In fact I did it on every team I had that went to the playoffs. 3 of 3.

Now as an aside, a bit of a different problem.

I mentioned before I had lucked into the Denver defense this season, in every league. (not that it is a problem)

But for the few that still do watch this thread that ALSO have Denver, Denver has NE in week 12.

I have plenty of faith in the Denver defense, but I will be streaming that week, so I will keep my eyes peeled as we get closer to that week.

By the way, I never posted it here, but here is a very handy link for all the streamers to look at and peruse quickly.

Its a small schedule grid, and one I use each year when streaming. Its especially handy to bookmark this, when you are streaming so you can just pull it up each week when deciding how you are going to make a selection.

Have a look boys.............

I may have mentioned it to Insein (the creator of this thread) but if not and no one has linked this or one similar, its a handy little grid.

Easy to just gloss over when needed.

Forgive me if I didn't post this early season, and I will try and remember to link it next year.

Its a definite help to all streamers that may not have linked to something like this.

Can't see stashing them, but Saints are @TB, then home for Det and Jax

Vikings with a couple key injuries, most notably LB Anthony Barr & DT Shariff Floyd are causing me to consider backing off them this week. Containing Gurley was going to be tough enough even with those guys, but missing Barr especially makes this no bueno. The Panthers owner actually dropped them (to grab Falcons), but I'm not in love w/ the idea of starting them even against a Jordy-less Rodgers. Packers will come into this one w/ a vengeance methinks.

Re: Playoffs

KC looks nice with 3 teams that are middling at best right now and could be completely off the rails: SD, @BAL, CLE

WAS could be sneaky similarly: @CHI, BUF, @PHI

Maybe IND: @JAX, HOU, @MIA

NE if they were somehow dropped. SEA and STL look nice, but presumably rostered.

Had KC for the Detroit game. Holding onto them but picked up Indy from the scrap heap. Defenses do ok against the Broncos offense overall. Should get a few sacks, and hopefully one of Peyton's INT's goes for 6.

I just don't trust the Saints D. When you allow 50 points at home, I'm not even sure a good matchup like that is worth it. I also think we are used to playing D's vs Jax but they can put up points and aren't an easy out.

I dropped Minnesota for Philly. Minnesota has been solid, but not amazing. High floor, low ceiling.

After losing some key players to injury, need more upside at the DST position and I think philly provides that.

Nice link, will use that.

I didn't REALLY mean stashing this week, I worded that poorly. But maybe week 11 or 12 start thinking about who to grab.

DALLAS, HOUSTON, and PHILLY (if they were dropped this week) seem like pretty decent choices.

The top 15 Offenses for DST in my league are:

1. Tennessee

2. San Francisco

3. Cleveland

4. Jacksonville

5. Seattle

6. Chicago

7. Detroit

8. St. Louis

9. Dallas

10. Buffalo

11. Miami

12. Houston

13. Kansas City

14. Indianapolis

15. Denver

Going colts, bare bones Def wise on the wire. Bucs, chargers, raiders, cowboys, titans and bears the other only other options.

I have been rolling with Carolina all year. The match up this week is a bit scary. I am considering rolling with Miami...very slim pickings on WW!

Just claimed New Orleans as they benefit from the dysfunction in Tennessee.
Big gamble given performance against the Gints. But a gamble I am thinking of taking as well.
I went with the Saints, hoping they could contain the mighty offensive juggernaut that is TEN. Oof.

Knew Saints are always a gamble, but thought this was a game they would come to play some D to get a win at home. X

I went GB last 2 weeks

-4 each week in my league. Lost this week by 5.

Sucks as they were highly regarded.

Now on the wire is slim pickings

Same thing happened to me. Picked them up before last week and spent $9 out of my $100 budget to get them thinking it would be worth it since I wouldn't have to spend a few bucks each week on some crappy defense that has a decent matchup. Instead they scored -6 last week and I lost by 3 (although an assist on that one goes to the Edward Jones Dome for taking out Bush before he could score any fantasy points). They got -7 this week and I am currently projected to lose by 8.

I've been fortunate to be able to have my playoff spot/bye secured... i'm trying to set my team up for weeks 15, 16. I'm having a hard time finding a defense with two good matchups for both weeks 15 & 16. Seattle has Cleveland and STL at home.... they are the only one I can find with two + matchups. One of the WW defenses that I may have to settle for is KC. They have @ Balt. and home v. Cleveland. Am I missing something here? Traditional defensive friendly teams like Oakland and Jax are no longer out there.

Have Atlanta and Green Bay defense and thought I was good. :kicksrock:
Same here. I'm giving serious consideration to trying to trade for a defense. I have really good WR depth so I would be willing to move someone like Diggs or Hurns for a top D. Denver schedule for playoffs doesn't look great though. What defenses are people targeting for the playoffs?

Who has the best playoff matchups? Whether by WW or trade, now's the time for some of us to start looking at that.

Giants after the week 11 bye have some good matchups. I've been rolling with them for several weeks in a couple teams in the FPC (not even by choice just losing bidding) and they have been excellent.

Good point. As an added bonus, between the Pats game and the bye they will almost certainly be available in lots of leagues just in time for their stretch run.

To be clear, Giants defense is not excellent in any imaginable way but they have been scoring fantasy points. Hope that trend continues because letting up 52 points and 600+ yards in a game is not a good thing.

Been a brutal year for streaming
Sure seems like it.

In years past DT/DST streaming was fairly predictable. In both the 2013 & 2014 streaming threads we'd add up out YTD game log totals and discover we were way ahead of the guppies who drafted Seattle etc in the 8th. Everyone felt like Julius Thomas circa September 2014. "IT'S SO EASY!!"

The Broncos are this year's cheat code. I drafted Carolina because I liked their early schedule & picked up Denver a few days before the season simply because I figured with Von & those CBS they wouldn't suck. At the time it was 48% owned - twice that now. I used the Panthers for 2 weeks, Stillers during the bye (bad idea), benched them against the Packers (another suboptimal decision.) Our wire is barren - I don't like any of the 14 options.

TEN

MIA

IND

TB

CLE

BUF

WAS

JAX

NO

OAK

SF

DAL

SD

What are Denver owners planning for Week 12 (Pats)?

Who has the best playoff matchups? Whether by WW or trade, now's the time for some of us to start looking at that.
I tried to bring this up a couple weeks ago but no one was interested in talking about it yet. Den, Ari and the Jets all have bad matchups. Out of those, maybe you give Denver a try anyway. I like the Rams W14 Det, W15 TB, W16 @Sea. And I like Sea W14 @Bal, W15 Cle, W16 Stl. I think you could get away with playing those two either W14-16 or W15-16 depending on your needs. Other than Den, Stl and Sea, I think you have to mix and match this year. NE maybe could be a three-weeker with @Hou, Ten, @NYJ. Min has W15 Chi and W16 Det, with @Ari in W14. KC did well the past four weeks before their bye and has W14 SD, W15 @Bal, W16 Cle.

What are Denver owners planning for Week 12 (Pats)?
I won't know for sure until that week comes.

But some of the popular choices most likely available then could be...........

ATL @ HOME vs. Minnesota

CLE @ HOME vs. Baltimore

INDY @ HOME vs. Tampa Bay

KC @ HOME vs. Buffalo

NYG vs. Washington

As per usual, it will all depend on what is available when the time comes.

Oddly enough, I mentioned it earlier in the thread but in one league in particular I had STL and Denver both in one league.

I ultimately had to drop STL.

What I should have done, was held STL for the rest of the season, and then tried to get some "sky high" Denver defense trade value at the time which was after week 8.

Including them in a "2 for 1" deal would likely have gotten me an upgrade elsewhere.

I own Denver in every league I am in, and I am getting the feeling this super high production is about to fall off.

As someone alluded to above, their playoff schedule isn't all that epic, and week 16 is against Cincy on a Monday night.

Just watch............

This year I am going to say that there will be some people benching their Denver defense on that Monday night.

I can imagine some fantasy teams that have Denver as their defense (since it has helped them all season) getting to the finals, and then being in a position where they can bench them on that Monday night championship week to avoid a possible negative number.

It is just looking like a rare scenario where a very popular defense thats on a lot of championship teams will be playing that final Monday night.

Been stuck starting the Packers the last two weeks because I'm an idiot and dropped both the Panthers and Patriots earlier this season. I think the Packers D has a big game against Detroit at home, but I'm tempted to roll with the Steelers this week instead.

Of the ones you list KC is probably the only one on waivers right now. I'm going to cut bait with GB and pick up KC for now. Not in love with the wk 15 @ Bal but I cant find any middle tier D's that have 2 decent matchups besides KC. (aka. on waivers right now)

I have had Cincy all year. They have not exactly lit things up but they haven't been horrible either. Picked up Green bay a week ago and dropped Bradshaw for them. After that last 2 performances by the Pack I am not even sure about playing them against anyone , even the lowly Lions. I might try to get Bradshaw back this week or pick up Allen to backup Forsett. I have Freeman-Coleman and I had Bell-Williams. So glad I picked up Williams the week before Bell went down.

I went GB last 2 weeks

-4 each week in my league. Lost this week by 5.

Sucks as they were highly regarded.

Now on the wire is slim pickings
Same here. And every week they are projected to have the most points on the WW. Case in point, this week they are projected to have 9. Next largest projection is the Steelers with 8.

On Fantasy Pros, the Packers are projected to be the 7th best defense ROS. Steelers are 21st, yet they have no negative point games... the Pack has 3 in a row.

Yet I'm still contemplating rolling them out vs Detroit.

Pack defenders were dropping like flies in that Carolina game. I'd be wary even against Detroit.

Saints were a disaster for me last week.

Was utterly surprised to find the Panthers on the wire in one league that I'm streaming in. I guess they've just had a tough part of their schedule, but the majority of it from this point in looks sweet.
