**Streaming Defense** Weeks 14-16 FF Playoffs (1 Viewer)

Any thoughts to looking toward D/ST to pick up now for the likely playoff weeks?

For example, if CAR is available and played CLE, JAX and HOU weeks 14-16, they might be a great pickup and stash.
not a bad thought.

ATL has Rams/SF/CAR

CIN has CLE/PIT/HOU

Both still have their byes though.

With a big bye week (first week with 6 teams), some Ds dropped to the wire, including BUF and LA.

BUF seems like a no-brainer grab, but noticed some back and forth here about them in terms of whether they are truly holds or streamers.

Any thoughts on these two going forward, as either holds or streamers? BUF has a WK 10 bye so not sure if that makes them less of longer term hold or not.

Rams' schedule not too terrible after their bye this week:

CAR  @NYJ  MIA  @NO  @NE  ATL  @SEA  SF  AR

BUF schedule after their bye looks fairly favorable:

JAX

@OAK

PIT

CLE

MIA

@NYJ

I had Buffalo in several of my leagues, my two biggest in fact.

I just flat dropped them this week. I really have no concern if they get snagged, since their immediate schedule is bad plus the bye in week 10.

Also, I have brutal byes that week, so I knew weeks ago I was going to have to start preparing for that.

If I can I will try and snag them during their bye week, then play them rest-of-season.

I would like to get them back, but it won't be a disaster if I cant pick them back up, at least in my case....I think they are at the lower end of "must start".

I don't really keep defenses unless they are blockbuster plays week in and week out.

I am wondering the same thing.  I have been running with PHI for several weeks now and they have been fantastic every week but 1.  DAL doesnt turn the ball over but we would have said the same thing about MINN last week.  So what do you guys expect from PHI this week?  Would you play them?  They are getting multiple sacks every week...
Playing them. Schwartz changed up his scheme slightly last week and came with some blitz's to disrupt Bradford.

This week I expect the same but to stop Zeke in the run game. They'll go all out to stop the run and bottle up Witten. It'll be similar to the Pitt game in that Dez might get 100+ yds on 10 catches but minimize the damage overall.

It's a divisional game that usually has both teams going back and forth.  Expect a 27-24 kind of game. It all depends on whether a defensive or ST TD is mixed in.

Same boat. I was going to target NYJ pretty aggressively but opted for DAL instead. Wentz is finally starting to look like a rookie and DAL will be well rested and playing at home.
Yeah, liked the 2 week matchup and (correctly) figured all the other streaming teams would target the Jets.

Leaning towards San Diego over NYJ and Dallas. Here's my reasoning...

Sd next 3 games broncos, titans, dolphins.

Not sure Cleveland is a great matchup with mccown starting. Of course if Hogan starts they are the best play.

Sd had the most points so far. The other two teams are near the bottom.

Joey Bosa is a beast.

I've thought of TN a couple times and decided against...thankfully.

This time around I think I'm in. It's a short week, Thursday night clunker, at home, and the JAX offense has shown absolutely nothing.

If this is the week JAX offense gets it together I'm quitting this hobby.
I just read that the Titans are going to be without 2 starters in the secondary Perrish Cox & Rashad Johnson.

I don't know much about either player so I don't know what type of an effect their absence will have on the defense

Thanks for the insight, TZM -- very helpful. Wonder if the return of Shaq Lawson helps the Bills D out that much more or not going forward.

Torn between TN and Dallas.

I have Seattle but just can't bring myself to start them @NO. Don't see a ton of upside there since Brees is out of his mind at home.

TN seems like the easy choice, but Bortles has a good history against the TN secondary -- 5 TDs last year in Nashville -- and TN is missing a CB. Thursday night game usually = low score, but with two screwey teams like this, who knows.

The Dallas/PHI game seems like a defensive battle, but I could see each team playing it very conservatively on offense. Low score, but minimal turnovers.

Any thoughts on Carolina?  They just don't look the same in the secondary this year, but they are out there on the wire.
David Johnson is a beast. He was barely contained by Seattle. I can't imagine what he'll do against CAR.

Johnson's dominance should give Palmer enough play action opportunities to score points.

Agreed here.  I'm just having a hard time getting behind dallas which is my other option and choice. Other than the Green Bay they haven't pushed the needle on defense.  And even that game, their turnovers were somewhat Green Bay's fault rather than great play. (Maybe that's just the Rodgers owner in me talking) They seem like a solid NFL defense, but a poor mans fantasy defense.

I can't even tell if they're a solid NFL defense. This is a lot like the 2014 season where Murray had 400+ carries. The Dallas defense was on the field the least amount of time as compared to every other defense by about 8-10 plays a game. It's because the OL and RB mauled people and controlled the clock.

This year they're again in the bottom 10 of defensive plays per game (8th lowest plays on defense).  So their defense hasn't really been tested.

no love for an underrated  Chicago D @ home vs an awful Minny Offence?
I had picked them up on Tuesday and was thinking this exact thing.  Then someone dropped the Jets, so I scooped them instead.  Jets next three weeks:  CLE, MIA, LA, then the bye.  Figured I could ride them for the next couple and not have to worry about streaming.

I have to choose between ATL, GB, DET, or WSH.  With Norman apparently playing I may go with WSH.  I want no part of either of the defense in the GB/ATL game but if I had to choose I would go with ATL

Kind of an AC question here, but since both of these Ds are streamers this week, the hell with it...

...how would you rank TN vs. Dallas D? Both seem like solid options this week.

Dallas seems like the safer play.

TN possibly with more upside in a sloppy game, but on the flip side Bortles could wake up vs. a banged up/horrible secondary.

Both are comparatively solid plays, and actually would lean more to TEN -- think they can generate a little more sack pressure and be disruptive against a badly slumping JAX team, especially on home field.

I like DAL this week at home after the bye, but I think PHI poses more of a threat than JAX.

I'm a bit nervous about Josh McCown's return.     I'm wildly over-exposed on the Jets defense this week.  I've got them in 3/4 of my leagues.

ha, i had opportunity to pick up TEN or DAL, i decided DAL because of them coming off bye and being home. well rested and a home crowd for a 5-1 team against NFCE rivalry... yea, i like their chances  :shark:

Got TEN in just now but might drop out at last minute and decide between DAL and CHI. Like both of them this week. Bears D hasn't given up a ton of points most weeks.

Anyone considering rolling out Cleveland at home vs. the Jets?  Or do we think Fitzpatrick is finally going to turn it around and be closer to the player he was in 2015?
I picked up the Browns (have the Ravens on bye).

Dallas is oddly ranked very very low by pretty much all the "experts."

Fantasy pros has them at 14.

On the flip side, Dodds and Tremblay have Dalls ranked 4th and 3rd respectively.
Everyone has SD defense ranked low too even though they are a top ten defense and face a poor Denver offense. I don't get it.

TN...zippo.

Cincy or Phil available both available in my league.  Philly has been good scoring D but don't like the matchup vs Dallas much which is probably why they are out there.  Cincy doesn't seem to score much (vs Wash this week).  Anybody else considering similar and thoughts?

If Philly is available I'd pick them up and start them every week.  That defensive front is going to generate a ton of sacks and pressures, forcing turnovers. Plus they've got dangerous returners, so a better than average chance at a return TD. Even against Dallas' O line I'd roll them out there

I KNEW I shouldn't have streamed the sh@@@y Tenn def last night. 2 damn sacks against most sacked qb & ZERO picks against the human turnover machine. I hope titans don't won another game. Oh yeah and they get shredded in 2nd half... @@@@ you tenn

I've wondered this too - and while I haven't checked the stats, Joey Bosa is a monster and seems to be really helping their front.  The problem is in the secondary -- they lost Verrett to a torn ACL and Flowers hasn't played since week 3, though it sounds like he'll return this week.  That should help quite a bit.

Denver's offense doesn't scare me - I think the Chargers will actually be pretty solid here.  For me it's between them, Dallas, and Buffalo.  I want to hold Buffalo, but I don't like starting anyone against the Patriots, then Seattle, then a bye...

Did they get shredded or were they just playing prevent? It does suck to get a crappy 4 points from such a juicy match-up

Chargers might be my target moving forward to use alongside Tennessee, since I missed out on Dallas.

dropped BUF this week. Was primed to go with TEN but then pulled out last minute.

Right now I've got CHI in over SD and DAL but they all seem like a bit of a toss up tbh

Sucks Tennessee dominated the game but the D had nothing to show for it fantasy wise
you mean besides the two sacks and the FR?

really frustrating to have played them and watch them dominate in the first half just to give up a ####load of yards and points in the second half and "lose those points"

From the Rent-a-Defense column: "The Buccaneers had four sacks and three takeaways last week, and four takeaways the week before. They are hot since the offense committed to the run, and the defensive line should be healthier. A home team with momentum is always a solid rent-a-defense play."

then why bother asking us?

My post was in response to that. When facing a below-average defense recently the Rams' offense has put up points. I think the Rams' offense can put up points this week so I'm surprised they're an underdog. I would look at this as more of a Pick Em game. As I first said, I think the difference may be Beckham but if his injury is more serious than expected the line could shift toward LA as we get closer to Sunday.
No offense buddy but holy cow were you wrong on all accounts.  The Giants defense had a field day.  The Rams did not in fact have an even decent offense, as I tried to point out prior (finished with 10 points).  The other post mentioned you would definitely take the Rams but I think that was an IF you were betting, right?  Hope so.  Anyway, we all have those days.

What are you thinking this week?  It's ugly out there.

I was shocked to see Dallas so low in most places. To me it was a no-brainer.  Safe floor as Dallas plays ball control and keeps games low scoring which is also what Philly wants to do. Add in rookie QB playing a road game and the possibility for some turnovers is high.

That's not what Bloom is saying.  Nor are the results of the last 3 out of 4 weeks.  But maybe you know something different.
Yeah those 3 games were vs the dregs of the nfl in la, sf, and Anderson led Panthers. So I guess vs the dregs they are playable. This week they play vs Oakland who is dead last in points allowed to opposing defenses.

Because I value the opinions here. So which one team of the following is the best choice:

Det
SD
Cin
Chi
Cle

really not a good one in the bunch - highest rated and most likely IMO for special team score would be Bengals but o/u for that game is 49 (still less than TB/Oak). I might go against the grain and take DET on the road in the hopes that Osweiler is terrible again and Miller is limited.
