Streaming QB - Week 14: Playoff Round 1 (1 Viewer)

For those still streaming let's discuss week 1 of the playoffs.

This seems to me an extremely bad week for streaming. You either need to go with a rookie with a good matchup or take one of the more dependable vets against bad matchups.

Good Matchups:

- Bridgewater at home vs JETS - Erratic Rookie against one of the worst D's against the pass.

- Mettenberger at home vs Giants - Erratic (and somewhat injured) Rookie against one of the worst D's against the pass.

- Hoyer at home vs Indy - Benched last week. Job may be in jeopardy. Should have lots of garbage time. Will Manziel replace him again?

- Shaun Hill @ Wash - Great passing Matchup. Can we trust Hill with our season on the line?

- Orton @Denver - Sorry. I'm not going down with Orton at the Hem. Not touching him.

Sheesh. The Good matchups are a nightmare full of landmines.

Bad Matchups:

- Stanton at home vs KC - does nothing for me. Likely low scoring game.

- Flacco @Miami - Can't touch anyone going against Miami right now

- Colt McCoy at home against the Rams - Piques my interest but the Rams are playing great D right now. And likely without Desean. Too risky.

- Alex Smith @ Arizona - No Thanks. Likely the Jamal Charles show in this game. I foresee a 210 and 1 type day for Smith.

As someone who has streamed for much of the season I am going to go with what has worked most of the time. Choose the QB against the worst possible Defense.

That leaves us with basically 3 options: Bridgewater, Mettenberger, Hill.

All 3 options make me a bit sick but I say go with Hill. Veteran, and he's going against the worst pass D in the league. Hope for a shoot out with McCoy. Hope Mason can't get it going.

I'm rolling with Mettenberger. Most likely that Ten defense lets up points and forces them to throw. Reports were he was throwing fine at practice, grade 1 sprain, 7 day healing process. He's actually been fairly consistent aside from the injury.

Over the last 2 years I've made playoffs in 7/8 leagues with streaming qbs, and won 2 championships last season. Looking forward to starting colt McCoy in at least 1 championship game this season

Its about matchups, Peyton put up 18 pts in my league last week, Fitzpatrick put up 50. Mccoy predictably shredded a crappy Indy D and Sanchez has been money with great matchups upcoming.

In one league I had Foles and have been riding Sanchez but I'm not playing him this week. I have Orton starting at the moment figuring there will be plenty of garbage points to be had. I'll be following this there's closely for better options for this week.

Exact same situation for me. Have Orton in at the moment and Sanchez on the bench. I'm ####ed.

I'm streaming Fitzpatrick this week over Flacco in a start 2 league. I'm not the only one streaming and in the playoffs. Others are streaming McCoy and Orton.

- Teddy has been pretty safe these last 2 weeks. They play the Jets at home so I feel good rolling with him. Also, Wilkerson looks to be out which is a big plus.

- I've been running with Sanchize the last few weeks but I'm benching him where possible this week. Save us Fitzmagic, you're our only hope.

- As for Orton, I don't trust him at all this week.

Also going with Fitz in a Start-2 league. Over McCown. I've been streaming my QB2 spot pretty much the entire season.

In a league where I started off the season with RG3 and Palmer, I'm now rolling with a combination of Orton, Fitz, and a pre-emptive pickup of Manziel. Currently tied for last playoff spot.

Orton has a bit of a "revenge" game against the Broncos, and figures to have to keep up on offense. But, Watkins isn't 100% and Orton has not been that good lately. It's also in Denver and the D-line puts some fear in me.

Fitz is away against Jax in a softer matchup, but he may not need to pass for much more than about 170 yards and no TDs or picks.

I can't say I trust either one but feel like the safer option is Fitz with Orton more of a swing for the fences. Will probably base the decision on Watkins' practice reports the rest of the week.

Any other opinions on Orton v. Fitz?

I really like Romo tonight. I think he feasts on the Bears.

Bridgewater and Cam is my big decision later in the week. I'm leaning Cam but Bridgewater gets the horrible jets.

I definitely see more upside in Orton and the real possibility of some garbage time stats in a lopsided game in Denver. But Orton hasn't been lighting anyone on fire lately, and Watkins and Woods have been banged up. And the Denver D-line could make this a brutal series of 3 and outs instead of the nirvana of garbage stats. If I was swinging for the fences as a un underdog, I'd probably take a shot at Orton. Fitz might be handing it off to Foster/Blue all day and get minimal stats. His floor and ceiling seem limited to me. The only positive is that it's in Jacksonville, and maybe the home team will give them a fight. I am really looking forward to next week when Fitz gets Indy. There's a game that he has no choice but to air it out.
