Stupid Baby Names (1 Viewer)

Was up north today in the well-to-do  neighborhoods & saw a car with the kids' cheerleader stickers on the back: Tinker and PreslieThought of you guys & figured I'd mention it..
Those two dooshes are probably so proud of their daughters' original names while the girls get picked on on a daily basis.

We're narrowing down names and I'm just going with a simple rule: can they be a CEO with the name we give him/her? How many Zanders or Strykerss run fortune 500 companies?
I suppose you are also hoping to not have a girl then? You know, cause there aren't many if them running fortune 500 companies eithet

Hoping for a boy but if it's a girl, I can't imagine an Apple or Lyzza working anywhere except on a pole... Give them a normal name and let them pick something ######ed when they're old enough.

Kids aren't going to be pissed off because you gave them a boring name but they might be pissed off for giving them a ####ty name because you were trying to be original or special.
Good call here. How many times have you heard a Mike complaining about how awful his name is?

To be fair, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say "gee, my name really sucks".

I suspect there are a few Gaylords or Flowers who might disagree with you.

I'm not a big fan of my name.

I grew up with a Flower who would disagree with you.

Congrats!

I like it when parents say "it's our child we ll name him whatever we want" or "we kept it to ourselves because we didn't want comments from everybody else" or "we named him Gaylord Grayson Graybush because we had to get another G name in there with the letters G.A.Y., it's a tradition".Guess what. It might be YOUR kid but it's his/her name. Don't make it something stupid. The kid has to start school not to far down the road and the ####### name you gave them ain't helping thier street cred one bit. Look at my child he's such an individual with his name Styyvon. O my little Macedonia is such a little princess. Well little Styyvon just got a wedgie and black eye from Brandon who's already got to second base with Kayla. And Macedonia just got zero valentines on valentines day because none of the boys in her class could spell her idiotic name. It's not your name, don't be selfish. Keep it simple. Rant over.
This may be my favorite post in FBG's ever

I was wondering if she was still able to go natural with him being that big. She's a trooper. Congrats again.

I wonder if Dickey Moe realized his child's name is Fear spelled backwards?

ETA: I do actually like it though.

You can add: Callum and Daschel to the list.
Are those boys names?
Yes, I guess they could be girls names as well since people seem to have lost their minds when it comes to naming their children. It's funny because I take my daughter to a couple of parks in my neighborhood in LA and a lot of entertainment folks live around here and these kids have the worst names ever. I hear all these names being called by the parents and I'm like WTF?!? I think I know the reason for it, a lot of these parents are from poor white trash beginnings and just happened to get a job in the entertainment industry and they think by naming their child something unique and high brow sounding they are raising their class status.
Ok, I added them.Daschel seems as though it must be German. So let me say that if it is and a person in Germany names their kid Daschel, then it's not stupid. But if it's merely an idiot American naming their kid Daschel because it's trendy or "sounds cool" then it's stupid.Hope I'm slowly clarifying the rules in some way.
Callum is very common in Scotland and Ireland; surprised to see it on the list since there are so many Irishmen here in the USA. Same goes for Aiden, Brendan, Collin (usually Colin though), Conner & Duncan.

Every single kid I know with those names is neither Scottish nor Irish. That makes the names stupid.

Here's another one. There is a guy in my ethics class named Coddle.

Not sure of the spelling but that's how his name is being pronounced.

Not joking.

I'm here to admit that naming your kid after your wife's maiden name is NOT a stupid idea, as previously stated by me in this thread. I have been proven wrong and I admit my own stupidity.

So the official ruling is that if a Scottish or Irish family use them they cease to be stupid?

If they use them in Scotland or Ireland, no problem at all.If they are in the U.S. and of Scottish or Irish descent, then it is probably acceptable (although the name still might be stupid).

I know their families.

Just saw tonight on the news some one called his kid Tressel. LOL,

Neighbor down the road called his kid Ryker from star trek.

Just got friended on Facebook by a girl with whom I studied Classics in college. She has the cutest kid ever, and as I was looking through her pictures of him, I noticed his name: Tiberius.

And they aren't calling him Ty or anything like that. Just straight up Tiberius.
