Subscriber Contest to be Unveiled by Wednesday Morning (1 Viewer)

I've spent way too much time on this lottery ticket contest, but I think I've finally come to a roster I like. The problem is I only have 18 players.

QBs 2 @ $31

RBs 4 @ $76

WRs 5 @ $68

TEs 3 @ $57

PK 2 @ $8

DEF 2 @ $7
This is what happens when you take Graham :) . I've also spent way to much time on this lottery ticket contest. I've changed my team at least 50 times tonight. 20 players seems to be the best lineup I can get.

Graham and Gronk.

Here is what my team is looking like:

QBs 2 @ $28

RBs 6 @ $54

WRs 9 @ $70

TEs 3 @ $54

PKs 3 @ $9

DEF 3 @ $10

A total of $250 spent amongst 26 players.

You are sitting at 225 if those are the actual money amounts used. Are you sure you only spent 54 at rb?

I usually stink at this, but feel pretty good about this year's entry.

QB (3) @ $35

RB (6) @ $97

WR (8) @ $69

TE (3) @ $30

PK (3) @ $9

TD (3) @ $10

26 total players used.

Here is the team I have decided to stick with.

QB (2) @ 19

RB (6) @ 97

WR (13) @ 93

TE (3) @ 26

K (3) @ 9

D (2) @ 6

Good luck to everyone.Should be lots of fun again.I hope OC puts up live scoring again I certainly would donate to his cause.

Looks like someone is trying to make QuizGuy66's list with the most WRs on their team. You are probably going to need to add 2 or 3 more to have the top number of WRs.

I think I'm now set....unless someone gets injured in practice before Wednesday.

QB- 2 @ 32------->A solid and a wildcard. Could have monster weeks here.

RB- 6 @ 77------->Feeling ok here. Things will have to fall right for them to be elite. If an injury happens to the right guy, watch out.

WR- 6 @ 93------>Solid group, but I had to spend for it.

TE- 3 @ 29------->Really wanted Graham, but I didn't like the rest of my team when I picked him. No depth behind him.

K- 3 @ 9---------->Nothing to say here.....just three $3 kickers.

DEF- 3 @ 10----->Same as above....nothing special.

23 total players....usually have less players, but overall I feel good about this team. Need to avoid the injury bug, but so does everyone else.
Ok....so I lied....now down to 19. Ahhhh....back to my comfort zone. I would post how many players I have for how much at each position, but I will probably just change it again later.

But I do like the fact that my top QB, 3 top RBs, 3 top WRs, and top TE all have different bye weeks. If everyone stays healthy I shouldn't have to worry about any of the bye weeks. That's a big if though. There is no backup plan if one of my top 8 players goes down for an extended period of time.

I spent about a half hour reading last years thread.....up until the rosters were locked. It was a good read. A lot more debate last year on the perfect roster.

It was interesting looking at who people thought were going to be studs last year....some because of injury....others because the hype never was fulfilled. For the most part, WRs got good production from the heavily owned players. The top RBs, not so much.

Even though there were several injuries between when the prices were set and the contest opened until now, there are not nearly as many "automatic" value plays this year, in my opinion. That makes it easier for most to focus on top quality higher priced players and therefore most smaller rosters.

Most of the roster position numbers and spending that I have seen are under players, whereas last year there were a lot of 30 player rosters.

QB (2) @ 32
RB (5) @ 95
WR (4) @ 65
TE (3) @ 40
PK (3) @ 9
TD (3) @ 10

20 players. I never make it that far in these.

QB (2) @ 33
RB (6) @ 88
WR (6) @ 74
TE (3) @ 37
PK (3) @ 9
TD (3) @ 9

Probably change this a dozen times before the deadline, but I'm rollling with this... trying to find a way to add a few more low WRs... kind of like the idea of going large WR (8+) but can't find a way to make it work nicely and still keep the value picks out there from the other positions.

I think my roster is pretty dialed in. Mostly minor tweaks at this point.

QB 2 / 27
RB 5 / 83
WR 6 / 76
TE 4 / 36
PK 3 / 13
TD 3 / 15

2 more days to trash it and start over...

I'm sure this will change, but as of right now...

QB 3 for 35

RB 7 for 92

WR 9 for 74

TE 3 for 31

PK 3 for 9

TD 3 for 9

I would probably be happier if I moved one of the RB's to WR, but I had bye week issues so needed to sign an extra one there. If anything changes between now and the deadline, that will be the change.

I had David Wilson on, but removed because of a bye week issue. With Brown out, I really want to add him back on, but that would mean removing at least one other player because of the bye week, which means...

Ugh.

Oh, and :whitestar:

The only way this lineup makes a deep run is if the WRs out-perform their value. One "stud" then a bunch of lower level fliers.

I feel pretty comfortable everywhere else

The math doesnt work for Graham.

3 qb $43

6 rb $73

6 wr $74

4 te $39

3 pk $10

3 de $11

Last year I got bumped in week 12 on a qb depth issue...I have difficulty letting go, hence the qb spending.

I agree on Graham, but QB has never been an issue for me (other than Stafford badly underperforming last year). So:

2 QB-$24

5 RB-$88

6 WR-$89

3 TE-$30

3 K - $9

3 D - $10

Of course, that may change another dozen times between now and the deadline.

I agree with the observations that there seem to be fewer clear-cut value plays this year. Last year there were a couple obvious plays at almost every position--not so much this year. Here's what I've come up with:

QB: $42 (4)

RB: $92 (6)

WR: $63 (6)

TE: $32 (3)

PK: $9 (3)

D: $12 (3)

25 players

Smaller roster than last year when I think I had 28.

I never get far either, although I like the players a lot. Has anyone ever lasted deep in this thing with only 19 players?? :oldunsure:

QBs: $29 (2)

RBs: $82 (5)

WRs: $73 (5)

TEs: $48 (3)

PKs: $7 (2)

Ds: $11 (2)

You mean like last years 5th place team? Or maybe last year's 2nd place team that only had 18?

QB 1 @ $28

RB 3 @ $84

WR 8 @ $100

TE 2 @ $25

K 2 @ $7

D 2 @ $6

Switching it up this year. Always went with a mid-size rooster and my mid-tier guys would always under produce. Going with studs and a thin lineup this year. Pretty obvious who the QB is. He's got an early bye so hopefully there is enough dead weight kicking around that I'll sneak through with the 0 at QB. No point in taking a backup as I'm toast anyway if he gets injured.
And of course that didn't last...

QB 2 @ 28

RB 4 @ 91

WR 6 @ 91

TE 2 @ 28

K 2 @ 6

D 2 @ 6

I'm still the only one spending 3 digits on RBs...

I think I'm going to sick with my lineup though. When does this lock? In really looking forward to sharing my strategy this year and hearing others.

I have $108 invested on 6 RBs.

As of this moment anyways.

$100 exactly for me.

Had a great team set up - worked it out offline - then I went to submit it and realized I had budgeted $300 instead of $250 :bag:

Always so so so tough to set this up :)

Go with the $300 team. What the heck, see what happens. ;)

My current team (check back on Thursday though):

2 QBs @ $26

6 RBs @ $95

8 WRs @ $75

5 TEs @ $42

2 Ks @ $6

2 Ds @ $6

Yeah I've been crazy busy this year, pretty much disappeared from the internet. It's been good, honestly, and I've been planning to try to stay away. But this contest always sucks me back in...

Right now I'm at 20 or 21 players and not planning to make any real changes. As most of the regulars here know I've been a proponent of larger rosters but I can't seem to find a larger roster I'm comfortable with and I've been able to rationalize a smaller roster in this year's contest. With that said there's still like 2 days left, so for all I know I'll end up with 28 players by the time the deadline rolls around.

WTF....I never noticed this before. Just went back and looked at the rules. Residents of Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana, Vermont, or Washington may play and have their places noted in the standings, but are not eligible to win any prizes.

Anyone know why? Does this apply to the fanduel side of this as well? Wow...I feel like I have wasted so much time over the last month.
I fairly certain it's illegal to profit from fantasy sports in those states.

QB (2) @ 24

RB (3) @ 80

WR (6) @ 110

TE (3) @ 24

PK (2) @ 6

TD (2) @ 6

18 players. I've done we'll in the past with big and small rosters so not worried about only having 18 players, but one injury to a big dollar player and I am done for!! Guess this is an all or none type roster and all my players except 3 have there byes before week 7.

Just looked up Fanduels rules. Here are the states that they do not allow.

  • you are not a resident of any of the following states: Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana or Montana.
Here is a link to their terms of use: https://www.fanduel.com/terms

Notice that Washington and Vermont have been left out. I'm wondering why it is different between the two sites? So, if it is ok for me to play at fanduel, am I eligible for their prizes in this contest?

  1. 2 QBs $24
  2. 4 RBs $90
  3. 8 WRs $86
  4. 4 TEs $30
  5. 3 PKs $10
  6. 3 DSTs $10
  7. 24 player roster CURRENTLY
This year's numbers are the most challenging that I recall.

Iggy! It is like the official start of the contest discussion!

Cool. I subscribed through fanduel and am looking forward to giving this a shot.

This might be a stupid question, but I couldn't figure it out from the rules...Do you submit a unique lineup every week, or do you only submit once at the beginning of the year and ride that team out?

I assume it's a new submission every week but am not sure.
You pick one team and get those players all year long, No changes no matter what.

Throughout the season, they will score you using your top players.

Example: You draft Drew Brees and Tom Brady.. Each week, you score will be the highest scoring QB on your team. You never select players again, nor do you make any changes.

For the RB position, if you select 6 RBs.... Your top two scoring RBs will count no matter which two they are (you also get a flex).

I hope that clears it up some.

You know what they say happens when you assume.

One entry for the year.

I just read an article about fantasy games and how many people can be arrested or face fines if they play for money in certain states.

Obviously, many states have laws saying your cannot play fantasy for money, some say you can and I believe that some do not define it other than to call it gambling.

Trying something different this year, since I have had little success over the last 5 years. Instead of going with something I feel more comfortable with, I started with that then made adjustments based on various projections (mine, Dodds, and others), then adjusted based on bye week conflicts.

Came up with I think I am going to roll with:

3 QB - $42

4 RB - $71

8 WR - $93

3 TE - $22

3 PK - $12

3 DEF - $10

We will see how it works out. This contest is such a challenge.
