Suggestion for Feature (1 Viewer)

I don't think this feature already exists, but to the footballguys staff people, I would like a feature that looks ahead a few weeks to who the best defenses will be. This will help people who don't have an elite week to week defense and switch often so they can pick up one on the waiver wire a week or two early before everybody else is going after them the week of their game. This of course would be most helpful in going after the less well known, undervalued or lower overall ranked defense who may just be going up against a crappy offense in 3 weeks.

+1 This is a good idea. Kind of like taking Blooms rent a defense and expanding it out a few weeks. AS the proliferation of RT info sites continues FBG needs to strive to find niches where insight and analysis can create a competitive advantage. With how many people frequently shuffle/drop D's (over say other top scoring players) There is more I feel can be done in this arena. I personally like the rumblings that seem to indicate that bloom might add defenses to his weekly prediction. It is always nice to have at least one competing opinion (as dodds has historically been the only one ranking D's)

good suggestion - i looked three weeks ahead for the schedules of the current week's rent-a-defense, but perhaps I'll look for matchups coming up 2-3 weeks out and highlight those teams for pickups - although I don't advocate ever carrying more than one D/ST, part of the beauty of the rent-a-d strategy is maxmizing roster spots for upside bench plays at RB/WR

Not related exactly but some items I would like added to the site (or maybe I am just not finding them currently)1) When I am looking to roster a defense in a given week, I manually construct the key injuries a defense has by checking on the health of each of the defense's key positions (it would be helpful if the site rolled up the key injuries when I click on a team defense). 2) Related to 1) but in the opposite direction, When I am looking at the matchup say a rb has, I like to know the key injuries the opposing defense has. This is pretty easy for wrs since there are usually only two cornerbacks I check. But for a rb or even a te, I like to know if there are weaknesses due to injury or a change in players due to performance in the opposing d line, safeties and linebackers. I refer to this info as 'defensive health' and the site could assemble this as a status report and use it twice - data for the overall defense's health and data for the matchup vs the key skill positions. 3) Practice reports - could the site add whether a player took starter reps? Or maybe that is implied when someone is limited - I don't know. Here is one example from today: Roy Helu was limited in practice, does that mean he took limited starter reps? or does that mean he did work on the side and Royster took starter reps? Helps to gauge against past tendencies a coach has employed.

Will this feature be available for the upcoming season? ranking defenses 2-3 weeks ahead

I'll continue to put the best defenses to stash for upcoming matchups at the end of the rent-a-defense column. thanks for the suggestion!

If you are a new subscriber, or are unfamiliar with it, I would look out for Chase Stuart's Defense by Committee article.

i used the lineup dominator last year and it worked pretty good. i personally hate team def, but thats how my league rolls...

We're also going to have an IDP feature that is going to be focused on the same sort of thing. Identifying IDPs who are good bye week options in advance of when they would be in demand so you don't have to use waiver priority to get them. And also trying to identify IDPs who may hit waivers during their bye week but whose upcoming schedule may make them attractive to grab and stash anyway.
