**Sunday Night Football - Packers 9-4 at Seahawks 8-5** (+2.5, 46) 8:20 (1 Viewer)

As a Viking fan, I am not looking past tomorrow's game vs the Bears. It would be so Viking like if they lost a game that everyone expects them to win. Division games always tougher than they appear.

Tirico is going nuts like the guy Beckham’d it.

Mike, ease up. Nice catch. Very nice. But we see probably at least one better than that every week in the NFL as catch qua catch.
I like words. I’ve never seen or heard “qua” before. Had to google it. Thank you for enriching my vocabulary, you wordsmith.

Thank you, ProstheticRGK. You know who to thank? Thank Ayn Rand. That’s where I first heard it. I wouldn’t assume anything political about me from that, but I copped it from her usage. I’m glad I’ve been using it correctly (I just looked it up, and that is exactly my intent in usage—consider me lucky).

From Merriam-Webster: As one 20th-century usage writer commented, “Qua is sometimes thought affected or pretentious, but it does convey meaning economically.” Qua’s meaning is quite specific—it can substitute for the phrase “in the capacity or character of” or the preposition as in the right context, as in “they wanted to enjoy the wine qua wine, not as a status symbol.”
Thank you, Ayn Rand. I read her, too, in my 20s and went way overboard on the free market libertarianism jag that is expected of pseudo-intellectuals in their youth.

And I will use qua in the most pretentious way possible. It will be ironic for me, but everyone else will just think I am a pretentious doosh. That will make me chuckle, secretly.

They both look better than what the Jets made them look like.

That’s a given. They’d be nowhere near the controls of a team if that were the case.

I was thinking Carolina Darnold or Giants Geno. That’s a fair thing to say. They weren’t that good for either club.

The Vikes are being overlooked because of the Lions, but they are a very solid team and a tough playoff out, for sure.
Vikes D might be > Lions D.

Unless Hutchinson comes back. @BobbyLayne - what’s the update?
For sure. Flores has been a godsend for them. Probably the biggest surprise of the year (except maybe the Eagles’ D turnaround after the bye). And not many are talking about it.

I can see MIN using the disrespect as fuel.

Same here. I loved “Anthem” and didn’t realize it had been cribbed from Zamyatin’s We. I then read her books and did my senior thesis on her work, whereby I became immediately disenchanted despite my conservative leanings at the time. She’s still one of the 20th century’s notable thinkers and public intellectuals.

I think her absolutism renders her a touch irrelevant today. She’s instructive rather than prescriptive.

The game’s been over since the 3rd Qtr. I just want to enjoy the camaraderie qua camaraderie.

Not many route concepts I hate more than 3 curl routes all next to one another. DK, JSN, and Fant were all standing about 4 yards apart at the same depth on that almost INT. Howell shouldn't have thrown it, but man, that's adding to the list of many times I've been really underwhelmed by Ryan Grubb's playcalling, and yet it seems like the media or whomever is pretty impressed with him. I'd argue its a little more like Zac Taylor where good (great in Taylor's case) players are making a mediocre playcaller look like he knows what he's doing. Looking back, its possible (probable?) that Penix/Odunze/McMillan were doing that at Washington.
How about the LA Chargers, like to hear your thoughts now after they get trounced by the Bucs today at home
I felt like they have been playing way above their reality as a team
Harbaugh was a fool to strip them of all skill talent around Herbert and then doesn't draft an Odunze as an example to help him out
He's set on doing it Jim Harbaugh's way and he didn't want Vets around to question him, I honestly believe he would love to trade Herbert
I actually think the opposite. I think Herbert is why Harbaugh took the job, and Harbaugh loves him. I think he felt Allen was an older player they could get something for, and Williams was coming off an ACL tear. I think they felt Alt would help more than Odunze, and I'd agree with that. If Harbaugh didn't want vets around to question him, then Mack/Bosa were interesting guys to keep as they likely would have gotten more for each of them than they did for Allen.

I also wonder a little if this was more of a long-term rebuild and they are secretly a little surprised to be a playoff contender so quickly. I think Harbaugh is doing a great job this season. He's a coach of the year candidate in my opinion, though not who my pick would be.
That's fine, I disagree and we can just have differing opinions but for someone who loves Herbert, he sure didn't help him out at WR and a sham at RB
I guess he'll fix it next year? Why waste a year with a guy you say he loves? Couldn't get him a. WR, TE or RB worth a spit
I don't see Harbaugh ever trading up to try and get Herbert a front line WR, it's always going to be spare parts and hope he makes them look better

-Honestly, Harbaugh has shown me enough in Year 1 to make me reverse course on my initial enthusiasm for him
It's not 2010 any more

I wish the LAC were not such a surefire WC team, wish there was somehow they could miss the Playoffs but after today not very likely
They might lose again next week and then they have 2 cake wins to go 10-7 and back into the Playoffs where they get thumped in the 1st Rd, take your pick but the LAC going nowhere

I dunno - they have a pretty solid defense.

Their WR corps is dookie for sure, and it hurt to lose a good receiving TE.

But if they’re healthy I could see the Chargers win a playoff game. I’d love to see it.

Pretty decent chance Ladd McConkey has a better career than Rome Odunze, hell decent chance he has a better career than Marvin Harrison. I think McConkey is arguably better than Keenan Allen today and certainly going forward.

Chargers nailed this draft, probably as much as any team.
Joe Alt looks like a top-notch OT
Ladd McConkey looks like a #1 WR.
Cam Hart has been a decent starter, and was a 5th round pick, though obviously Mike Evans is well out of his league. No shame in that.
Tarheeb Still is a defensive rookie of the year candidate, including picking off Mayfield today.

That's filling holes at OT, WR, CB, CB. All very important positons, and Junior Colson has potential at LB, but has been hurt most of the season.

Herbert has the best TD/INT ratio, YPA, and passer rating of his career, and a team that was picking 5th overall, is likely making the playoffs. I don't really know what more you could ask for? They had a bad game today, but don't think they are absolutely 1 and done in the playoffs.

They've lost 3 of their last four, thanks for the Draft notes but it doesn't change Harbaugh's overall approach to offense.
I won't be buying a lot of it come Redraft '25

They traded up in the second to get McConkey...I know that because it was with the Pats and I get to watch Polk (or actually not watch Polk) every Sunday while McConkey proves he is a legit NFL WR...they also nailed Alt in the first who looks like he will be a franchise LT...this is the draft Patriot fans are dying for them to have for Maye.
