Sunday Ticket '23: YouTube TV signs deal. Stand alone option available (1 Viewer)

Several Big screens in the house, 4 box on a couple of them

-Challenge is like I'm in St/Pete and the Bucs game is on local TV, can't watch within the YouTube/NFL Ticket, need a separate TV just for local networks

-Dolphins game is on one of the main networks around here at 4:25 so we either have to dedicate an entire TV for that, no multiple games allowed on the TV mixing with anything that is on main networks, kind of a PIA

Please help!!!

I got it on Youtube, not Youtubetv.

How on earth do I find the Multiview option????

I don't really use Youtube much, watched a tutorial and it keeps telling me the multiview options are above the live game options but I don't see anything on any device(and I am using the app)

For those that have YoutubeTV and NFL Sunday Ticket do you know how/where the multi-view game options will appear? We don't have YouTubeTV so purchased the standalone NFL Sunday Ticket. I can see the individual NFL games as upcoming (wonder when the feed goes live) but I don't see multi-view and I believe that is available if you purchased the standalone option. I have to get multiple TVs setup in the house this morning so trying to get a jump on things.

Find multiviews

Pre-set multiviews are groups of up to four live games that are displayed together as a single stream.

The quickest way to find the multiview for a select combination of games is to:

  1. Start watching one of the games you want to watch.
  2. Press down to see multiview combinations.
  3. Select your preferred game combination.
Multiviews may appear on your streaming device or smart TV's YouTube app, including on the Home View attachment 4263 tab under “Recommended multiviews” and in Watch Next recommendations when you are watching live games. You can also find them on a Primetime Channel’s homepage where multiviews are available, such as the NFL or WNBA channels.

Watch & navigate multiviews

Choose a multiview to watch and the included games will open on your screen. The left or top-left stream will be highlighted by default, and the audio from that stream will be played.

Here are some more tips for how to navigate multiviews:

  • To change the audio, use the directional pad on your remote to highlight a different stream.
  • To access the captions and audio track on your multiview, press down until you reach the player controls to toggle captions or audio track
  • To view the selected stream in full screen, press Select on your remote.
  • To return to the multiview, press Back on your remote.
Thank you for the quick and extremely helpful response.
Sure. I will send the bill to your office.

If the up-to-one-minute delay thing is real the social media explosion is gonna be nuts. You'll have to turn off live fantasy updates

Those curious about how long the delay is - I'll be home watching the Bengals-Browns on terrestrial TV and can post (innocuous) information for a play or two and what the time on the clock is if you're curious.

I'll post the moment the foot hits the ball for opening kickoff.

Just so you know what you're delay is if ya want.

We can't create our own multi view?
We cannot. They haven't got the throughput to allow people to customize this yet. The way that streaming works is different than cable (which has all the signals coming through at once so things like PIP were easier). Streaming increases bandwith with every quadview 'option' and with so many options at once, they don't have the infrastructure to handle custom multiview yet and give us multiple pre-selects instead. Hopefully changes in the future.

It's real. I've been watching on YouTube tv for two years now. I was always well behind my buddy watching on direct tv.

Has anyone found a quad-screen? I'm only seeing single games. Yesterday I watched a 4-game view of college games and it was awesome because you could flip the audio around to any of the 4.

Seems to be about 16-17 seconds vs over the air

I have DirecTV. This is my first experience with the NFLN version of RedZone with Scott Hansen.

They flip around waaaaaaaay more than the Sunday Ticket version with Andrew Siciliano.

If this is how it's going to be all season, I'll be very happy that I didn't pony up the $$$ for Sunday Ticket on YouTube.

I agree, they were, at times, seemingly flipping every 10 seconds or so. The only thing I didn't like was that it seemed that the fan noise in the background was "canned" and not from the actual game being shown, adding a dull roar to the audio. Did anyone else hear this?

In the Quad on Youtube, we liked having Redzone in one of the boxes and let that be the audio with Scott Hansen
Miami played in the afternoon, it turned into the game of the day but we mostly watched the Dolphins and they were on a main network so we couldn't pull them up on Youtube.

Still have some fine tuning to do but overall the experience was good.
Still just having Redzone by itself is pretty good for a few bucks a month vs the hundreds you shell out on Youtube
I do like the experience thus far.

I had been a DTV customer for almost 25 years, pretty much entirely because of Sunday Ticket. I signed up for YouTube TV last weekend. My experience has been extremely positive so far. It took a little bit to get used to navigating the "channels," but so far this I think this is just an all-around better product than DTV. In particular, I really like the multiscreen option to have my game of choice on one screen and RZ on the other. Yesterday I felt like that setup allowed me to closely follow the one game while also keeping a pretty good tab on the others, so that it would be easy to switch over if the game I was watching got uninteresting. I agree with the comment that somebody made above that RZ switches back and forth a little more than I'd prefer, but that's a minor complaint and maybe it'll exhibit a little less ADHD in future weeks.

I don't care about the time lag at all, because I'm not getting any sort of live updates so I have no way of even observing the lag. I'd have to intentionally go looking for it.

Not sure if others got this or not, but I did have some buffering yesterday. Probably about a dozen times when it hung for just a second or so -- not a big deal but enough to be noticeable. It would be nice if that got cleaned up, but I understand that there may be some issues with streaming live broadcasts that don't apply to streaming movies and shows. It's fine.

While I did all my ST viewing on my big screen in the basement, I've enjoyed watching TNF and random college games on my PC with social media up in the background. In principle I could have always done that with DTV too, but it's a lot more natural with YouTube.

Now all that's left is to give us home team / road team radio options as alternate audio feeds and we're good.

For those of you who have always had RedZone, AND are in your team’s market, did you like having Sunday ticket rather than just having Redzone? I have $100 off the subscription that expires this week and I didn’t realize there was a free trial.

my experience from someone who had Sunday Ticket for years on DTV. i don't have YTV, just Sunday Ticket + Redzone setup on a Amazon FireStick. I used this setup yesterday on a 75" and a 55" and the experience was the same.

Pros:
  • Multiview - they don't quite have every combination options, but they have enough combinations that it was good enough. When bye weeks start and there aren't as many games, this should cover all combos.
  • Multiview - Redzone can be one of the four games.
  • There was concern about the "back" button on the remote not working the same way on YTV. For Sunday Ticket, I was able to use my back button to go to the previous multiview set I was on, or further back to single game, just like the back button on a Web browser with history. This might be only relevant on FireStick.
  • Multiview - Switching between the four games for sound was better than I remember with DTV, very little delay when i flip around.
  • Had this running on two TV's in the house with no issues.
  • As long as I was logged into Youtube (free account), I was able to easily watch the games while I was out picking up lunch. On the YouTube app on my phone, the games were the first set of recommended videos during the game times on Sunday.

Cons:
  • Multiview - it was a pain in the rear to find the right combination I want to watch and not all combination of games are available.
  • For local games that are on CBS or FOX and not on Sunday Ticket, it's a pain because on DTV the games were on a separate channel so it was easy enough to switch to those. But now with the streaming setup I would have had to exit the app and go back if I wanted to watch those games. This sucks, I watched those games on my phone instead. This might actually be good for YouTube, but not good for people without a second screen. Though if you dont' have local channels anyway and cut the cord, then not an issue.
  • No DVR option, the preseason games were available for replay so I was hoping regular season games would be also. Doesn't look to be the case.
  • Just a rant, paid for Redzone because DTV said they will not have it, and then they got it back after I paid for it and YTV had already said no refunds.
  • Redzone - yes to the poster above who said they jump around way too much. This seemed to be the case even on scoring plays until the afternoon slate when there were less games to flip to. This feels like something they will easily fix if they see that people are complaining.

This isn't a pro or a con, or i don't know where to put it. About the lag comment from @IvanKaramazov above, I noticed this twice, at least I only noticed it twice. What I didn't hate was that when I got the stream back after the lag, the video seemed to have caught up to the current time and not start from where it froze. So, on one hand I missed 30 seconds-ish of the game, but on theo ther hand I'm not behind because of it. Also, I just remembered as I type this, I was on Multiview for most of the day and all four games froze for the two times I just commented. Once after that only one of the four streams froze. I flipped to the other three and the streams were fine there. So the issue was not likely my internet.

I am cutting DTV off this week, been with them and ST since 2004.. I am going to Fubo TV with NFL Redzone.. I like YTTV, but being in Pittsburgh region, they don't have ATT SportsNet.

Also previously a 20+ year ST subscriber. First time watching the non-DTV Red Zone. It's different. I like it, but I do prefer Andrew Siciliano. He had a sense of humor, whereas Hansen is pretty dry, although he's still good. Also, I was very impressed with how much and how often they cut to other games so quickly. When I switched to the multi-view, I figured out why. The Red Zone is on a delay. On multi-view, with RZ in one of the 4 channels, you could see plays happening in the other 3 windows before they would show up in the RZ window. So they queue up plays and when there's a break in the action, they'll quick show another highlight and then cut right back. Not saying that's good or bad, just different. YMMV. Also, as far as not having all of the possible options in the multi-view, I don't think that's the case. I think it gives you all of the possible options EXCEPT your locals. With yesterday having 4 local/national games, that meant less games that you are able to watch in multi-view. But of course, they don't black them out on RZ.

Overall I'm pretty happy with YouTube ST. I also like that you can have up to 2 people not on your home network be able to login externally. So my son at college and another friend were able to cash in on my subscription. Side note, I did call DirecTV a few weeks ago and told them I was going to leave since they don't have ST anymore if they didn't give me a deal and they knocked $80 off per month without blinking an eye.

very good point, i'll check next week. i don't remember which game I was looking for, but i remember thinking that can't be our local game. Since I didn't turn the channel to confirm, this would be a simple answer. i would still call this a negative, or at best a big annoyance, having to go in and out of the app to watch the local feed.

I noticed the exact same thing and I hugely endorse this. Take an extra 10 seconds, figure out if you want to show me that play or not, and then either show it or don't. Perfect. I don't care if it happened 10 seconds ago. I kind of already know that it already happened if you're cutting away to show it to me.

Man this is SO MUCH better than it was with DirecTV. They basically did everything I found annoying and with easy fixes and did all the fixes. Can't perfectly customize the multiviews but it was good enough that I could get every game I wanted and Redzone across 2 TVs.

Is Hansen RedZone the only one? Did we lose Siciliano one?

I am out of market but get probably 8 if not more games of my out of market team showed locally. I've always had Hansen Redzone since it started. I never felt the need to consider Sunday Ticket (didn't have DirectTV) - and probably still won't get it now that I can. Redzone works just fine for me. YMMV

Luckily the Steelers game was local for me this week, but I have been unable to log into my YouTube account on my Roku. Google keeps denying me for security risk, despite me doing 2-factor authentication and confirming it is me via email click as well.

First taste of the current redzone channel after many heats with DTV. I much prefer Siciliano, I liked his goofy enthusiasm.

This version sure changes channels like crazy, will take some getting used to. Seems like they get you back to the action in time, but there were plenty of WTF are you changing the channel right now moments as the early games wrapped up.

The “witching hour” concept and graphic is incredibly lame and forced.

Way late to this party because I just dumped cable, and now it's dumb question time.

I'm in NY and what I'm seeing is it's $349 when I ADD that to a $73 base plan that I don't even want? Can that be right? Does it come with some ice to cool down my a-hole?

yes, that is right although you can just buy the NFL. don't have to buy the youtube base plan.

Okay thanks, found that. And damn. That price is even worse, but at least I'm not saddled with crap I don't even want.

I feel the sudden urge to make some prop bets to see if the certain uptick in NFL expertise can pay for itself.

Right, though I think the price for that is $449.

Regardless, with DTV you would have to get a year subscription and hopefully get Sunday ticket for free, right? So that’s probably like $1000 at least.

Youtubetv can be cancelled at any time, so pay for the 4 months of that and plus Sunday ticket, it is like $650.

I feel like half that and my eyes wouldn't have bugged out.

I'm the idiot that stayed with Sunday Ticket and Direct TV for about 25 straight years. Learned to play the game and probably only paid for Sunday Ticket one time in the last 2 decades, but had to cancel my service and go through all the bullcrap every single year. We also have 9 receivers and that really sucks having to pay a monthly fee for each one. So FINALLY told DT to suck it forever and went with YouTubeTV this year. COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. Unlimited streams for only what $10 a month? And being able to decide which multi screen games you want GOLD Jerry, GOLD! So happy to be free from those DT a holes!!!

I bought it and I'm having all kinds of problems already. No London game, LIVE tab only showing 10/15 games. Best $449 I ever spent. No ice for a-hole either.

Wow, I literally never get buffering. Once in a while a channel freezes but I just switch to a diff channel. I always watch on local network channels and not the channels in the NFL section, they're almost always wonky.
