49ers over Broncos

MVP - Randy Moss

I see SF as a team who will run through the west, as they should. As for the rest of the conference, no one can match their physical abilities aside New York, who has a brutal schedule. Denver will out last Pittsburgh in the AFC Title game. I think Peyton has a great season but the 49ers D will be the story of the 2012 NFL season.

Baltimore over San Francisco. Totally agree with your sentiments about the Niners, they should have won it last season IMHO and the window wasn't even supposed to be open.

But Baltimore will end the dream.

49ers over KC

49ers defense is just too good to not give them a chance to go deep into the playoffs, and KC, because its about time.

Patriots vs. Packers

Ridiculously favorable schedule and the defensive pieces drafted should give the Patriots home field in the AFC

Packers added some pieces to the defense that should improve the pass rush

The winner will be the healthiest of the two on Super Bowl Sunday

I felt compelled to see how teams that won 14 or more regular season games fared the following season (since GB won 15 games last year).

Unless I forgot someone, there were 24 other teams that won at least 14 regular season games. In the following season:

- 5 Won the SB (73 MIA, 79 PIT, 04 NE, 05 PIT, 06 IND)

- 1 Lost the SB (11 NE)

- 4 Lost in the Conference Championship

- 8 Lost in the Earlier Playoff Rounds

- 6 Failed to Make the Playoffs

The Packers certainly look like a front runner at the moment, but history has shown that not a lot of teams go on to win after a great regular season the year before.

Aside from the fact that your stats are wholly arbitrary, a 21% shot at winning it all is pretty good. Oh by the way: Pats over 'Niners.

If I had to pick right now I'd say San Francisco vs New England.

ETA: New England wins

Texans over Packers.

Houston has the best defense in the league and if somehow Schaub and Andre can stay on the field they will get the 1 seed which they would have got last year.

Second that practically verbatim. Picking Pats.

Almost. Have to flip the results.Green Bay > HoustonAlternate would be Green Bay > Pittsburgh Hey the Giants and Patriots had a do-over, why not?

San Francisco 49ers over the Baltimore Ravens. We'll get to see the 2nd edition of Harbaugh Bowl on the big stage but the outcome will be different than the 1st meeting. The fans want it, the media wants it and the NFL wants it. It'll be the highest rated SB ever and the most covered SB around the world. There'll be a ton of money made by a lot of people. Through all his trials & tribulations since he came into the league as the #1 pick, which he hasn't lived up to, QB Alex Smith is rewarded with a SB Championship ring and the MVP of the game.

**side note- There won't be a Kyle Williams sighting anywhere, not even in the stands :thanks:

Not when you're one of the best teams in the league. It's not like we're including the Browns who have a 1/32 chance of winning it all

how quickly we forget the GB Packers...49ers fatal flaw: Alex Smith..you know, the same one who threw the ball in to the ground aiming for a wide-opened WR in the Championship Game? I think the 'bad' Alex Smith returns this season, he can't possibly reproduce his 2011 stats...last year was an abnormality..how often do we see teams produce a playoff run like that, only to flop the following season? I loved the run that SF had last year, the two playoff games against Saints and Giants were superb..some of the best playoff football ever...but I think that run is over..Packers/Steelers rematch, Packers win it again.

Let's go Ravens over the Lions in a great Super Bowl.

Packers, Bears & Lions all make the playoffs perhaps. Not sure the 9ers make the playoffs next year, the NFCW has been such a whirlwind the last few seasons.

Broncos may not make the playoffs either.

i luv everything about the 49ers except QB ... means i cant pick em

semis: Packers vs Giants, Steelers vs Texans

superbowl: Packers lose to Steelers

Eagles vs. Pitt, Pitt wins...all PA

I think people are sleeping on The Eagles gelling...they were picked for the SB by many last year and little has changed...except they finally got it together the last five weeks.

I'm guessing you mean the last 4 weeks, cause PHI lost to the Seahawks in the fifth week. In their year-ending 4 game winning streak, they beat the Dolphins (6-10), the Jets (8-8), the Stephen McGee-led Cowboys (8-8), and the Redskins (5-11). Sure, they won, but it was not exactly a Murderer's Row of opponents.

NYG over NE. Seriously, what has changed?
Lots. Giants tough schedule, target on their back, and it takes a bit of luck and not just talent to win a superbowl... Giants had that at the end of the season, so replicating that would be tough, especially in that div.

I'm not sure I buy into all the buzz on San Fran. THey had a hell of a run, but I like what Seattle, Arizona, and St. Louis are all doing. Can't see anyone out of the NFC South making it. Lots of Houston picks too.... they lost a lot on defense... is no one remembering that Mario and Ryans are gone?? They should win the div but a hot wild card team may handle them early.

NFC PIck:

Green Bay or Philadelphia

Other with a chance: San Fran, Chicago, Giants, Cowboys, Atlanta, Detroit.

AFC Pick:

New England

Others with a chance: Pitt, Balt, Cincy, Denver, San Diego, Houston
