That's what I mean about those great Steelers DBs.... they are overrated.
Does anybody else think Polamalu is NOT having a good game? The guy's been great but he's been pretty neutralized tonight, doncha think.

No they aren't, they get tested a lot though because teams can't really run on them. That wasn't a CB coverage mistake. That was a zone defense where Polamalu was late getting over, partly because of a pick. But those picks are run on every play down there, so it's perfectly legit.

Game on.

Troy is the only one who is not... but even he has lapses in coverage.

Isn't he banged up? i thought I heard something about it earlier in the week...

Even though Stevens caught the TD, I still think its hilarious that he got used by Stevens on a key running play.

I hope Porter shows up and makes a play. He's a quality player and I would hate to see him end up as a punch line.

Hah...Stevens almost dropped it.
That was actually a well executed pick play.
Very true. Polamalu would have been better off standing his ground and letting the receiver run into him, forcing the officials to make a call (which, of course, would have gone in Pitt's favor ;) ). As it was, he just let Stevens go.

Watch game much?
He's right. Pitt relies on its blitz packages which have been quite effective to this point in the season. The DBs don't have to cover long. Today Hasselbeck has time and his receivers are open. They are simply dropping balls. I wouldn't go so far as to say they are being "exposed", but they are not the strong point of the Pitt D

No, see that's the problem they played man when they should have shifted to zone. Brain farts will kill you in games like this.

Which Steelers' defensive player is really playing well today? They haven't gotten pressure on Hasselbeck, and they can't cover Seattle's WRs. Seattle shooting themselves in the foot over and over again is the reason they haven't been successful.

Do you guys know the difference between zone and man?

I've thought Hampton has looked very good.

Jackson timed the pick very well. No contact, created lots of space for Stevens.

Hawks haven't really stopped the Stillers for two straight drives now. Let's see if the turnaround gives them a boost.

Brain farts is a killer that must be stopped in our time - before it kills someone!

Not me. I can't stand that loudmouth and I hope Stevens wins the mouth battle AND the field battle. 1 TD vs 1 tackle= Stevens

Yep. Just good posting the part where he recognized it was Polamalu's assignment and not the "poor PIT DB's".Agree with the points you've made since the first post.

OK, so Hassy is the MVP of the game right now for sure... win or loose IMO. Lets hope a Steeler *cough Parker* can step up and take that away.

Yes.Jackson was man on man against a CB. Stevens was on Polamalu, who was responsible for the deep zone. Stevens just happened to run into Polamalu's zone, but he couldn't get over.

Take Stevens out. His head isn't in the game. These drops are killing the Hawks

They played man on a crossing rt. Natural progresion of reads says peal off you're man and swtich to zone. You will get picked every time if you don't. That was a lapse in coverage. If you guys don't want to see that, fine. He is right, they SHOULD have palyed zone. They did not and got beat because of it. I just hope it doesn't happen again.

What's with the deep throws by Hasselbeck to WRs just because of one-on-one situations? It's not like his receivers aren't open over the middle.

I'm wondering that at well. Been throwing it twice as far as necessary. Just get the dang first downs!!!

He doesnt want to pull a Ben.

Hmm I missed that punt....was it the returners fault for letting it go?
Yes. The Hawks are beating themselves.Edit: Hasselbeck looks great. He's the best player out there today.
