Super Bowl XLIII Game Thread - Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Arizona Cardina (2 Viewers)

Gonna complain about that call too?
Yes we ####### are.NFL is going to be a two-hand touch league before I die.
The rules are the rules, the refs can't decide they don't like the rules.
:lmao:Talking to you is like talking to a Hitler Youth circa 1943.
He ran over the holder. What part of that play did you miss?
You have an interesting interpretation of the word "ran over".
No kidding.

He ran through a defenseless player, after the kick. That is called 110% of the time.
:lmao: He didn't run through anything. He lost his balance and held up, gently holding back his momentum after tripping forward.
Is it against the rules to run into the holder? Are there degrees of running into him that are okay? If not it was the proper call.

And CareerBuilder wins the best commercial contest.
By "best" do you mean "worse", that one was awful. The Bud horse commercials are a disapointment too.
Anyone that doesn't laugh at a commercial that involves punching small animals, but laughs at those stupid horse ones or those awful other ones that people were bringing up earlier, is clearly 80+ years old.
The over-repetition killed it for me.

the roughing call shouldn't have been called but the other 2...

Roughing the holder was weak at best. He did hold up. Is the defender supposed to just take a nose dive to the ground? He's already got the kicker to avoid.
He's supposed to be under control. Can't believe people are actually questioning that call.
In related news, everyone understands why you are supporting the refs here. Extra men on the field for you guys now in the last two SBs.

Your My Pittsburgh hate devotion gets a little old after a while. Actually, it's been old for quite a while.

He was tripped by the lineman. If someone is tripped and then hits the punter they don't call running into the kicker.

You should believe it. He was tripped and pulling up. There was no intent like when Hines Ward blindsides a guy not in the play.

This was an interesting paper on going for 4th down. It argues that teams should be considerably more aggressive on 4th down than they really are.

On the team’s own half of the field, going for it is better on average as long as there are less than about 4 yards to go. After midfield, the gain from kicking falls, and so the critical value rises. It is 6.5 yards at the opponent’s 45 and peaks at 9.8 on the opponent’s 33. As the team gets into field-goal range, the critical value falls rapidly; its lowest point is 4.0 yards on the 21. Thereafter, the value of kicking changes little while the value of going for it rises. As a result, the critical value rises again. The analysis implies that once a team reaches its opponent’s 5, it is always better off on average going for it.

Besides the fact that he let up and didn't run him over he was tripped by the Steelers lineman. If he wasn't tripped he wouldn't have lost his balance and could've stopped. Horrible bull #### call.
That sums it up pretty well. The guy was tripped up by a lineman and could not get his balance. Pathetic, pathetic call. One of an obscene number this game. And no, I'm not a Cardinal fan.

I honestly can say I have never seen a defensive player run through a holder before like that. It was so far after the kick it was ridiculous. I understand being miffed about the first two but that was unneessary roughness if I ever seen it.

I'm a Phin fan and could not care less who wins this game. There should have been a flag on the FG, but running into, not roughing.

i hope the Cards can get it close again

He was tripped up and did hold up. Can't believe you are surprised that people are questioning it. Well, actually, I can.

ok. I didn't see it that way, but ok. you guys are going to win, but I wouldn't want to win like this. Its like racking them up again after the guy scratched on the 8 ball. not very satisfying.

Actually he pulled up. And when's the last time you saw that called?

What happened to all the pregame talk about how you have to redefine your idea of "open" when throwing to Fitz?

1 catch for 12 yards, how many targets has he had?

It's OK, I understand why a football fan from Detroit would be bitter.
When was the last time the Pirates were in the World Series again?
