Woo supposedly hadn't seen himself in a mirror in 39 days, yet his mustache and beard were meticulously trimmed during the whole run of the show. Was someone else shaving him?
Genetics. Some men lack the hair follicles required to grow a full beard. This is fairly common in Asians and even more so in Native Americans.
Exactly. When he saw himself in the mirror he commented on his mustache. He probably kept it because he had never been able to get one grown in and didn't want to shave it off.

For the first half of the season, I thought Tony was an idiot who was getting lucky. The second half, I felt he was making some good moves and still getting lucky.

3 weeks ago, I was really rooting against him. But I was actually happy to see him win. He wasn't the best Survivor player ever. But he was the best player this season. And even though that's not saying that much, he deserved to win.

Also, I don't get the whole being mad at someone for saying "I swear on my...." and going back on it. When did this become a thing that requires you to be truthful? Anyone who is on that game and believes someone who says that is an idiot.

Yeah, I despised him most of the time too. Even right to the very end. But then you realize yeah, he deserves it and this probably is the best outcome (if Woo had to be such an idiot).

Loved Woo's "Let's just shut up and vote, Jeff".

Also, loved his "What if there's a tie? Do we go to the jury? Do we fight? Draw rocks? Oooh, build a fire..."

I thought it was funny when Kass and Woo were talking and Woo said, "I'd be an idiot to take Tony. I mean, the would be the dumbest move ever in the history of Survivor." Or something similar to that.

When he said that, I turned to my GF and daughter and said, "I guarantee that's foreshadowing. Something tells me he's taking Tony to the Final 2."

I have to give Tony mad props for appealing to Woo and his sense of honor. That's really the only thing that would have worked. His cop background on being able to read people saved his game.

What was it Spencer promised Tony at 4 if Tony kept Spencer and then Spencer won the final immunity? I didn't understand what he said.

I thought the same thing

Spencer promised to take Tony to the final 2 if he won the final immunity challenge. He told the jury to not give him a single vote if he didn't keep his word.

Great season. People cheering for Kass is puzzling. I've never disliked a person on the show more. Completely delusional, smug. Can't say it enough.
Wife and I were debating who was the worst all-time, Kass or Jerri? I never thought anyone would even challenge Jerri, so that's saying something.

I wonder how close Tony was to accepting his offer.

So here was Tony's decision at 4:

-Vote out Spencer, knowing that it you make it to the finals you will probably win. However, the odds of him winning IM were low, and there was a high probability that the other two would not take him to the finals. So his chance of getting to the finals is low.

-Vote for Woo which would force a 2-2 tie, and let woo/spencer light fire to advance. If Woo wins, we are back to the first scenario. If Spencer wins Tony is guaranteed making the finals. Kass/Tony would take each other if they won, Spencer promised to take Tony if he won. However, if Spencer wins, Tony faces an uphill fight to win against Spencer

I still don't know if he made the right decision even though he won in the end.

I think he knows he loses against Spencer, and couldn't take that chance. He has to get rid of Spencer and bank on either 1) winning immunity himself, or 2) being able to convince Woo, which he did. I think he made the right choice.

I don't think Tony was convinced it was a final 2. I think he thought final 3 and he was in.

didnt get to watch until this morning so i had to unsubscribe to this thread and stay away from social media until now.

Anyway great season. As jeff said, most people came to play. I thought Tony deserved to win. Spencer definitely made it official with his statement to the jury. I still think Tony would have won minus that speech, but his final tribal showing was costing him a few votes up until then.

I think Spencer played a fantastic game. I look forward to him playing again.

Kass, though i hated her, i think she played a solid game.

Woo, i respect his decision at the end. It definitely cost him the money and i wouldnt have done it. But i think Tony planted the seed and made a good point that his major thing was playing an honorable game. I think Woo realized that he had gone this far and didnt want to derail that.

I think it would be interesting to see Tony back and a blood vs water season. See if he would be ruthless with family. i doubt it though. Also, did i hear ruperts voice in the preview to the next season?

True, the possibility of that factored in I'm sure. Can't have Spencer in a final 3.

Also, I don't think Tony played the best game. Spencer played the best game, but had the deck stacked against him. Tony played the best game and caught some breaks by being in power most of the time.

Spencer's only mistake in game play, as far as I could tell, was using his idol - or not using it for his alliance.

Great point. With that uncertainty, he made the right decision. If he knew for sure it was final two, I think he might have kept spencer at 4.

I think the Marlins owner is still wrong about playing hard from the start. It's like the Masters. You can't win the masters on day 1, but you can lose the masters on day 1.

Has anyone ever spilled the beans:

Is there prize money for the other positions and how much is it?
It's out there somewhere. There is a staggered payout I believe.
Second place get 100K, third place 85K Then it drops. First person voted out gets $2500
That's what I figured. It just seems they keep those numbers pretty hush hush.
It's more dramatic if everyone assumes 2nd gets nothing, especially in a season like this where 2nd flushed the million down the toilet. 100 grand for a month's work is approaching FBG-type money.

Blood vs Water already filmed? Chances Spencer was there? He didn't seem to have gained much weight. OTOH, i seem to remember posts of his recent tweets in here.

Same thing I told my wife!

I think I read/saw somewhere that Blood vs. Water was being shot with an all new cast and then they are doing an All-Star season for next one (which would be #30).

Again, another great move by Spencer that I've shouted at my TV multiple times, and posted in these threads multiple times, that I'm glad someone finally tried. So many players barely look one move ahead, Spencer was looking at least 3 at all times, and knew how to frame things in ways that it made sense for the other person's benefit instead of just for his own.

Yep, all new players :pickle:

The Blood vs. Water concept first debuted in season 27 when 10 former players returned, each bringing a loved one to compete with/against. But instead of returning players, this new Blood vs. Water cast will feature pairs of all new contestants. Jeff Probst credits the fans for pushing the show to bring back all new players for the Cagayan season that just wrapped up, and the success of that installment gave producers the confidence to do it again. “We really listened to people saying, ‘Oh my gosh, we love new players again. This is so fresh and it feels so good,’” says the host. “And we went down the road with a couple of different ways to do Blood vs. Water, and we started casting it, and started finding really good people, and then more good people, and then it became a very easy decision to go with a completely new cast. “

They must be starting season 30 soon, now that Jeff is free. The beaches around the set were closed to the public beginning April 21 but obviously they couldn't have filmed a whole season by now. Must have just been prepping the area (moving in equipment, building, etc). Beach closure is in effect through September.

Yep, told the wife "we are going to get to watch a guy give away a million dollars."

They have not filmed the new season yet. If they continue as they have been for several years now, they'll shoot both seasons in the same place (Nicaragua this time), back to back with a short break in between, starting in about two weeks.

Jesus, Parvati looked hot. I desperately want her to succeed Jeff.

Amazing how about four or five years ago, I thought this show was on the brink of cancellation. It rebounded strong as ever and is just as popular as it ever was. Kudos to the showrunners.

I went through a similar progression with Tony. I can't say I thought he was the best player this season - I thought that was Spencer easily - but I went from almost despising Tony to "I'm going to be pissed if he doesn't win" when it got to the end.

And yes on people whining over broken promises, whatever they were sworn on. If you don't want to be lied to, DON'T PLAY SURVIVOR.

If Parvati succeeds Jeff, I think the show will return to the brink of cancellation.

Jeff is the best reality host on TV and has been, IMO, for more than a decade.

You're thinking of Phil Keoghan. I'm not rushing Jeff out the door, but Parvati would make an awesome host. Men and chicks love her.

I like Woo a lot. He seems really genuine and cool.

Not sure how Spencer is a #####. He always gave props to everyone else on their moves, tried his best to win challenges and play the game strategically, never gave up and was never mean to anyone.

Tony deserved to win. He played a fantastic game.
Well he threw Woo under the bus when he lobbied for Tony, and he #### talked Kass enough that he struck me as a sore loser. Granted, he's just a kid. I was pulling for the guy, but I felt like it was a little karmic justice there when he got his season ended by the ##### from hell who proved smarter than him when it counted most.

And like he said, Tony deserved the win. We'll see how he does next time.
He never really threw Woo under the bus. Everything he said was accurate and on point about Woo following his master. Woo was undeserving of winning when put up against Tony.

I'm not sure how Kass proved smarter than him. Yes she outlasted him but she made so many enemies along the way and was such a ##### that the jury vote for her vs Woo would have been 8-0 with Tony not raising his hand. She wasn't as good a player as she thought she was. She simply outlasted Spencer.

When great players are talked about it's sometimes forgotten how important gaining jury voted are. If players can win challenges, find idols, manipulate people, and do most anything else that most people consider to be a great players, it's all for nothing if they alienate the jury. Thus making those so called great players terrible.

I like Spencer and he would have been a deserving winner, but someday his superiority complex is going to earn him a punch in the face.

Kass was still there at that point because everyone wanted to sit next to her at final tribal. I guess that's a smart enough plan if you want to be one of the final 2/3, but it's not that smart if you want to win the game. I know she thought she was going to use her ninja lawyer skills to swing some of the jury members, but that wasn't happening. They wouldn't even talk to her at the Ponderosa. For all her talk about "if I was a man everyone would think my moves were genius" her game was actually a lot like Russel's in that it doesn't do a lot of good to make it to the end if you have a jury full of people who would never vote for you, even against a non-player like Woo. You gotta have an end-game.

Loved that the major theme of tribal council was taking pot shots at Kass. (Today's secret word is, "goat.") Seemed to me like there must have been talk at Ponderosa about how big a #### Tony had been, but how nobody could justify voting for Woo. So it seemed like they came to a consensus that they'd all use that stage to tell Tony off in front of a network TV audience for what a #### waffle he'd been, with full understanding that they'd all vote for him anyway. Then let Spencer bring it home so everything looked legit.

Also loved that Spencer is already a better lawyer than Kass.
