SUV with 3 Rows of Seats (1 Viewer)

Got the bigger one - Denali. Definitely was useful for hauling kids, baseball gear, luggage and big labs. Beast.
Denali isn't the bigger one.  It's a Yukon (GMC) which is very similar to a Tahoe (Chevrolet).  Denali is the highest level trim level of a Yukon which is equivalent to a Tahoe Premiere.  The XL version is longer and is the same size as a Suburban.  At least, that's how it was explained to me at the dealership today.

I have a 2008 Tahoe.  With 140k on it. Was thinking of trading it in this month for something new, but I'm just going to install a rear camera and drive it another 100k. Haven't had one problem.

You know what it's not for?

It's not for "no drivin', backing-up soccer moms that crush my ####### rear panel at the Kroger parking lot."

That's who it's not for.

Denali is not bigger than a Tahoe. Same car. Denali is just the nicer trim version of the Yukon, which is the GMC version of Chevy's Tahoe. We have the Yukon Denali with captains chairs. Great car for a big family.

Mrs O was against it but in retrospect I wish we had gotten the Yukon XL, which is the longer size version (GMC's version of the Chevy Suburban). No matter how big a car we get I seem to always need more space.

All great cars. I'm not sure the GMC versions are worth the coin over the Chevy versions -- I was looking for a Chevy but came across ours CPO 6 months old with low mileage and decided it was worth it. The big upshot of the Denali is you get the big engine (same engine as in the Cadillac escalade, which, but the way, is their version of the same car).

We will drive ours into the ground. Great car.  Good luck.

We went slightly smaller than those and got the Chevy Traverse with captain seats.   Much cheaper but you don't get the same hugh trunk space

We also recently got the new Audi Q7.  Awesome car, drives like a dream, and highest tech car I've ever driven in (aside from maybe the Tesla).  Only complaint would be it doesn't have captains chairs, so convenient third row access requires leaving the middle seat folded down and my 6YO having to climb over it to get into the back. She doesn't care, but it's just not ideal.  Also wouldn't mind if it were a tad bigger.

I have a Q5 and my wife a GL450.  Q7 has same issue as Q5 - small back seat, plus it's a pain in the ### to access the third row.  The Mercedes 3rd row access and auto fold up / down could not be easier.

Q7 is a nice ride. We ended up getting xc90 over it as my wife really wanted a hybrid and it is her car. If it had been for me I think I would have gotten the Q7. We like xc90 if you are looking for luxury 3 row. All these cars are smaller than those big GM cars.

I have a suburban z71 package. It's fantastic.
We have a Tahoe z71 with the 3rd row. Next to my 69 Mustang in the garage, this is easily the best vehicle I have ever owned.

I am sure it does not get as good gas mileage as the Mazda or Audi but I can tell you when you are in vehicle like a Tahoe or Suburban, you feel safe. I have been in a Pilot and one of the Mazdas, they IMO feel like just bigger cars.  My Tahoe is a tank and it just turned over 100k last night on a road trip for a college visit for my daughter and that thing rides smooth as silk at 90mph.

While it's smaller than the Tahoe/Yukon XL we have a Ford Explorer Limited that I love. We drove it from Chicago to California and back last summer and it was fantastic.

Drove an Escalade for years.

Have no idea why I ever got rid of it.  Tahoe = Yukon = Escalade.. just trim/design differences (engine on lower trims with Chevy/GMC)..

Great trucks.

We have one of these as well. Has the bucket seats for the second row, so the kids can walk through. The extra cargo room in the back is awesome, since we haul a boat and camp a lot. So good for all the gear.

That said, I wouldnt buy another one. Will buy a Ford Expedition next, probably the EL version.

I'd like a 3rd row SUV to replace our 05 Envoy but the sticker shock is daunting. I won't buy another GM product after dealing with various issues between the Envoy and my 04 Impala which I replaced with a 13 Sonata.

I enjoy my Toyota 4Runner.  Third row is not real big though, and now that my kids are getting older/bigger, it is not quite as convenient.  We don't seem to need too often any more and generally I keep them folded down for the cargo space.

Wife just bought a Q7 after a horrible 2015 BMW X4. I ate a #### on that deal

The Q7 is fabulous

No Honda Pilot love?

I will be looking for a 3 row this spring probably.
I was coming in to recommend the Pilot.

We bought a 2007 Pilot used in 2010. Can't say enough great things about it. Full DVD package with flip-down screen. Just a solid set of wheels that has never had a problem. Tires. Brakes. Oil changes. That's it.

If youre in the used market, I HIGHLY recommend the Pilot since they've been making it soooo long that you can always find one in your price range if you don't mind going a year or two older to hit your number.

What i like best about my suburban is it's by far the best snow vehicle I've ever driven. That's with Bridgestone duelers siped.

Whatever.  I got the one that's absolutely bigger than any Tahoe.  XL.  Wife drives it.  Captains chairs in the 2nd row.  Liked it better than 2 benches.

By the way, still consider it one of my dumber purchases.  $51K new back in 2005.  Since then I only buy 1-2 year old cars with low miles coming off of leases.  Bought a 2 year old loaded Cadillac CTS with 7K miles on it for 19K out the door.  That was my best purchase.  Still have both cars.  Drive 'em into the ground.  I'm not a big car guy.
