T Glenn to be done for the Year! (1 Viewer)

So how far do you go to get Crayton off the WW if he's on their in your league?

I'm considering dropping my RB5/6 Tatum for him but am thinking thats probably not wise despite lacking WR depth.

I think if I had a guy like Bruce, Porter, Moose, or Furrey I'd drop them, but if I had a Curtis, Hackett, or Marshall I'd probably hold onto them.

I think its somewhat easier if you're going to drop a WR to get him..esp if you got a lot of bench space (but if you do, i'd assume he's probably not on the WW)

damn my 6 man bench!
disagree with dropping I. Bruce for P. Crayton at this juncture.
100% agree with this. Bruce was one of the most overlooked WR in every draft this year, be it dynasty, expert, guppie, that guy was just forgotten about.
OK...I agree with what you guys are saying, and given the loss of Curtis and Holt's status I guess he has even more potential than normal...I just thought of some guys off the top of my head, and looking at those others I listed, Im in agreement

John Clayton, of ESPN, reports Dallas Cowboys WR Terry Glenn (knee) appears to be structural damage in his knee, but the team does not know for sure yet.

I tell you if this is true the guy to have maybe not for the next 2 - 3 weeks but he will take over Crayton's job is Sam Hurd .

The kid look like a real good route runner good hands , still young and has a lot to learn but i would not be surprise to see him overtake Crayton a marginel WR .

I agree. I think Crayton is solid, but Hurd could be something else. Someone to keep an eye on.

Crayton is not a marginal wr. The problem with him has been injuries at extremely inopportune times. Bill Parcells raved about him, and he produces when given significant time. I think he is going to have success similar to Kevin Curtis when he filled in for Bruce several years back (although they are two different types of players).

i have him in all 4 of my leagues  i've always liked what i've seen in crayton. i drafted him last year in 2 dynasty leagues & i picked him up in both redraft leagues this year, 13.03 & 13.11. very happy with that!

I don't understand the Hurd love in this thread. Yes, Hurd is 2" (which aint alot) taller than Crayton. He's also lighter, slower, and doesn't have the hands Crayton does.I'm not trying to be confrontational here - I want to make sure I'm not missing something. "Check out this one catch he made" is not a reason to assume Hurd will overtake Crayton. To be honest, no "expert" has even mentioned that possibility. Thoughts?

Again, Crayton is not available in any leagues I play in...he was scooped up in all dynasty leagues, and I do own him in multiple leagues...he got my attention in Sept of 2006 against the San Diego Chargers. The pick up right now is Hurd who will slide up to WR3 now and see some limited playing time and also line up in the slot on 3rd down...it's more of a dynasty thing than it would be for a redraft league.

FYI: While watchign the Bronco/Cowboy preseason game with the Dallas announcers, they said that Hurd was "in competition" for the WR4 position. I think the other guy to watch is Miles Austin. Also, the WR that Dallas would like to emerge at WR3/4 is Stanback. I see the rookie as a year away.

Terry Glenn's hurt? when did this happen? sarcasm; this is unreal how many threads and posts continue. T.O. will catch all the balls in Dallas.

Terry Glenn may have a chance to play this season if he opts for arthroscopic knee surgery rather than a microfracture procedure.

This is a big decision for the 33-year-old, who would only be delaying the inevitable if he has a scope, but might have a chance to play again in a few weeks. The microfracture surgery would end Glenn's season and likely his career. This explains why Dallas flip flopped on revealing Glenn's status.

Dallas Cowboys receiver Terry Glenn will miss Sunday's opener against the New York Giants -- and possibly a lot more.

Glenn, 33, told ESPN's Ed Werder on Friday that he has torn cartilage that will require surgery and is deliberating two options: Having season-ending knee surgery, or having a procedure to remove the damaged tissue so that he can potentially return in three to four weeks. The latter option, however, would not be a permanent solution and could expose him to the risk of severely hurting the knee again.

"I want to play this year, and I really feel I have chance so I'm really leaning toward taking the [damaged] piece out and trying to play this year even though I'm risking the rest of my career by doing that," Glenn said Friday night. "I think that's what I'm going to do. I'm not sure, but I've played 12 years and don't have a lot of years left. I want to win now, and I think we have a chance to win now.

"My Super Bowl chances are running out, so that's what I will probably do. But I know there's a great percentage risk that I could do that, ruin my knee, never play again and have to limp the rest of my life."

Glenn missed all four preseason games after micro-fracture surgery Aug. 1 to remove a cyst from the back of his right kneecap. Coach Wade Phillips said the latest injury came in practice two days ago and "was not related to the original injury," but Glenn disputed that.

"Anybody saying this injury is not related to the other injury -- BS," he said. "This would never have happened if I hadn't been hurt already."

However, Glenn said that he doesn't hold the team's medical or training staffs responsible for the injury.

"I don't blame anybody for this but myself," he said. "It didn't feel the way it should have felt, but the pressure and the hype of the season starting really got to me, and I was told I could not injure my knee further by going out and just running on it. I wanted to win the game for my teammates because that means a lot to me. But it wasn't ready and now I've injured it even more."

Cowboys players say they have not been told the severity of Glenn's knee injury, but they expect his absence to be lengthy. Quarterback Tony Romo was attempting to contact Glenn after Friday's practice.

"This is a very big loss for us," Romo told ESPN. "You can't replace Terry Glenn. He has special abilities and you're just not going to be able to replace him. But I have a lot of confidence in our young receivers. I've been throwing to them all summer. I really think Sam Hurd will step to the plate."

Glenn, entering his 12th season, caught 70 passes for 1,047 yards and six touchdowns last year and gave the Cowboys a deep threat that helped Terrell Owens lead the NFL with 13 touchdowns.

Patrick Crayton, who has 1,019 yards and seven touchdowns in three seasons, will move into Glenn's No. 2 role behind Owens. Hurd will be the third receiver.

"I don't know who to blame, but I'm so mad," Glenn said.

Information from ESPN's Ed Werder and The Associated Press was used in this report.

:goodposting: I am in the same situation as you. Held on to Crayton in my Dynasty League, with Glenn and TO getting up there in age, I felt Crayton would get his opportunities. And when he has played, he has been solid. The guy has a lot of talent.
