T.J. Ducket ranking (1 Viewer)

Well for those of you who remember Keerock and his antics, I'm taking it the other way this week (sort of), and not in any attempt to revive that awesome tradition, but solely because I"m  about this ranking.

So, in the cheatsheets (member only so I won't go into gory detail), my friend T.J. Ducket is ranked, well let's say outside the top 65 running backs who may play this weekend. Let me repeat that - Dave is saying there are about 65 running backs who should do better than T.J. this week. That puts him behind such luminaries (just to name a few) as Noah Herron, Kevin Faulk, Maurice Hicks, Maurice Morris, Tony Fisher, Justin Griffith, J.J. Arrington and my personal favorite Jason McKie (who the hell is that?). Many of these guys will very likely not see the field this week.

I realize T.J. got no work last week and he's new to the team and will have a reduced role from what he had in Atlanta going forward. However Portis is dinged up, Betts is not good (the truth hurts despite what the Washington coaching staff would like you to believe), and Gibbs has annointed T.J. the goalline guy. Sure they might not get to the goalline in this week's game, but the chance of that combined with the other considerations leads me to think that T.J. maybe, just maybe should be listed a rung or two higher than, oh, say....Jerome Harrison for instance?

Granted that once you get outside the top 20 or 30 rbs it's tough to differentiate, but this one looks like a foul up to me. I think Dave's just been hitting the WD40 a little too hard, but maybe someone can explain this one to me, because I can't see a reason for it.

TYIA :D

I'm sure those rankings were created before the recent Portis announcement. I imagine Duckett would move up from #65 as we get closer to Sunday.

They were, but my considerations were before the recent Portis announcement too - I think he was underranked when Portis was just questionable.

I'm a Duckett owner & I'm hoping (and I always say that 'hope sucks') that TJ finds the field this week. If that's the case he may hold some value & would be rnked higher than #65. Ranking #65? To be honest, I see no reason to think otherwise until I see him hit the field.

Duckett is my dark horse candidate to surprise with a good game. I have nothing to go on here other than a hunch, but they didn't play him vs. the Vikes so the Cowboys have zero film on him in this offense, and his running style is so different from Portis and Betts that he may be a surprise for the 'Skins. Again, just a hunch.

Love the new avatar! One of my favorite movie quotes from him:"Now why would a man let himself be insulted like that?"

5/24 :shrug:Well, they put him on the field and actually ran a variety of plays in different situations, including first down. He wasn't going to see much more time than that though given that the RB's and Betts in particular seem to be the featured players in this new, high octane passing attack and they were trailing all game long. We'll have to see how Portis looks this week, but I do think Duckett will see more and more action as the season goes on, and he may end up being a good bye week filler for you if Portis continues to be sidelined.
