Tampa Bay at Atlanta (1 Viewer)

I don't see the problem. Like was pointed out during the game, it is the Bucs' job to stop them from scoring.

Plus, a kicker can make himself more money on his next contract by hitting a lot of long field goals, so is Bryant supposed to be robbed at the opportunity to increase his worth and value just because the Bucs were so pathetic that they were out of the game in the first half?

Throwing while up 40+ deserved a pick six... Run run run, every play 39.5 seconds each time.
You have your second team out there. You see what they can do.
Yeah, that doesn't bother me nearly as much as a 59 yard FG up 35-0 before half.(If it were under, say 40 yards, I wouldn't have a problem with that either.)
You're bothered by a team going for a score in the first half of an NFL game? Really?
It just smacks of "hey, this 35 point lead isn't big enough, so let's try a play that has about a 10% chance of working so we can get another 3 points. Points, we need points". If it's a 40 yarder and they go for it., well that's just business as usual.
Why would you stop trying to score in the 1st half? A 35-7 halftime lead has been blown before, I'm sure one day a 35-0 lead will be.

Even when you're playing against Tampa Bay, you have to pretend like it's a real game and go all out with your pros. It's the best dress rehearsal you can get. Plus, if you become a fantasy monster, fans will like you more and buy jerseys with your name on them and such. Late in the 3rd, absolutely swap in your backups to get them real game experience and show them off to the home crowd. But man, ALWAYS play to win. Why would you not? There's plenty of time to feel sorry for Tampa after the game.

Speaking of, if Tampa took their current team to college, I don't think they'd even rank on the AP poll. They were just awful. I imagine they'd fall into the "others receiving votes" category with like 2 votes. And they wouldn't deserve those.

Glennon looked a lot better than McCown, though, so maybe there's a glimmer of hope. Next year they should spend their first 6 picks on linemen (4 O line, 2 D line). It's like they forgot that talent on the line is what lets your skill position players actually get to play. And fire their defensive coordinator. I've never seen so many terrible zone coverages in a single game.

I had no problems with them trying to score on that drive. I had no problems with them trying to score in the third quarter. Just trying such a low probability FG reeked of desperation though. Rather see them spread them out 4 wide and throw to one of the Wr underneath and see if that defense can make a tackle.

Am I the only one that can't figure this out? Reeked of desperation? What?

Florida State has maybe 10-15 guys who could make an average NFL roster right now, while the Buccaneers have at least 30. They probably both have 2-3 guys at the top of the roster who'd be worthy of first-round picks, but the Bucs are just way deeper in the middle and at the bottom of the roster. They'd be favored by a couple touchdowns over Florida State.

Are you saying that attempting a field goal increased the Falcons' chances of winning by a lesser amount than running an offensive play would have in that situation?

Or are you saying that attempting a field goal increased their chances of winning by a greater amount, but they shouldn't have done so based on other considerations? (If so, what are the other considerations?)

I don't know if either running a play from scrimmage or attempting that long FG increased their chances of winning since their chances of winning were probably already over 99%.

I just thought that kicking the FG looked like they were desperate to score more points, i.e. down 30-27 with 4 seconds left in regulation (4th qtr)

Conversely, if the Falcons had been down 20-17 going into Half and the 59-yarder would have been their normal course of action, then I'm wrong.

In 2014, the worst NFL team would crush the very best college team. It would be embarrassing.

Every NFL team is a collection of college all-stars over the past 5-7 years. And you think they'd struggle against a current team with future attorneys, personal trainers, insurance agents and construction workers mixed in with some future NFL players? Absurd.

You guys talking about kickers earning more money by kicking long field goals or being desperate to score points is hilarious.

Nothing wrong with scoring points. This isn't young children playing soccer.

They should play that game eventually. There's money to be made.
