Tank Johnson stopped by police in Arizona (1 Viewer)

In what is becoming a ritual at Halas Hall, the Bears are gathering information about a police incident involving Tank Johnson that could affect the length of Johnson's eight-game NFL suspension — if not affect his standing with the team.

Gilbert, Ariz., police pulled Johnson over at 3:30 a.m. Friday and cited him for "being impaired to the slightest degree," according to Sgt. Andrew Duncan, a police spokesman. Police initially stopped Johnson for going 40 m.p.h. in a 25 m.p.h. zone when the officer on the scene "made observations that led him to believe Johnson was impaired," according to Duncan.

WTF does "impaired to the slightest degree" mean? If the blood test comes back with acceptable results, this should not effect the suspension.

When are these young black athletes going to learn how to stay out of trouble? Most of them come from nothing, the ghetto, and when they finally make it in life they just turn around and blow it. Its just so sad to see it happen over and over.

I hate to put it as a race thing, but what young white NFL players are getting in trouble over and over again, but i guess the majority of young Nfl players are black so the data is a little flawed.I think we can say without being racist, that these are troubled young black men and his statement was correct.

No Charges To Be Filed In Tank Johnson Traffic Stop For At Least Two Weeks

Police and prosecutors in Arizona said late Friday that they won't decide for another two weeks whether to charge Chicago Bears defensive tackle Terry "Tank" Johnson in connection with a traffic stop. Although Gilbert Police Sgt. Andrew Duncan said that Johnson was arrested for possible intoxication, he said in a prepared statement that no charges were placed or tickets issued. "Johnson was not booked or charged," he said in the statement. "There have been no official charges thus far and no citations issued."

Gilbert Police stopped Johnson for driving 40 miles an hour in a 25 miles an hour zone at 3:30 a.m. local time Friday. An officer made an observation at the scene leading him to believe that Johnson was impaired. Johnson was transported to the Gilbert Police station, where blood was drawn. Duncan said the crime lab in neighboring Chandler will test the blood sample, a process that will take two weeks.

Arizona law is different from Illinois. In addition to a DUI law that sets a legal limit of .08, Arizona has a law "DUI Impaired to the slightest Degree," that allows charges to be pressed no matter how small the amount of alcohol or drugs involved. Duncan said the charge is not normally filed unless there is an accident involved or some other extenuating factor. He said that would be left for prosecutors to decide.

The San Diego Union-Tribune published a list of 308 arrests and citations involving NFL players since 2000 that were more serious than speeding tickets. http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/nfl/a...amp;CPIorderBy=

Over 90% of the players on that list are black

according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Football_League about 66% of the NFL is black

So I dont think its out of line to say that blacks get arrested or get in trouble more often than their white counterparts. Its not racist, its just a fact and those who dont see this are just blind. Im glad the league is finally cracking down on these thugs with tougher punishments or else they will never learn to stay out of trouble.

We need a Race Forum on this site. That way, the small group of people who keep injecting their views about race into football threads can have their own special place where they can denounce black people and pat each other on the back.

The rest of us don't give a #### about your views on race and don't like football threads hijacked so you can moan and denounce.

This is a football forum.

Did I mention that the rest of us don't give a #### about your views on race?

WTF was he doing in Gilbert? at 3 am?

I live in Gilbert. There is zero nightlife here.

You can't even pass through this town from anywhere cool.
