Tanner - pls. post details of your diet here (1 Viewer)

If you drop sugar for a reasonable amount of time, products that are artificially sweetened will taste way too strong when you try them.
I'm not a big sweet/sugar guy, but love fruit. I can't drink coffee with any cream or sugar anymore. I don't eat junk food like chips very often. I never eat dessert unless it's a holiday. Donuts make me a wee bit nauseous. But I'm an apple a day kind of guy so that's gone in this diet. Fare thee well.

I also don't eat breakfast at home during the week and have always just had fruit at work. I suppose I should boil a bunch of eggs and make some bacon for the week?
Regardless of what Atkins says, eating an apple each day isn't going to screw you up.

Yes, I'm sure it's all those apples that are packing on the pounds.
Pretty sure I've attributed it to the beer already. But hey, throw rocks if it makes you feel better, guy.
I'm the only one here trying to help. Keep eating apples.
By help, you mean calling me fat?
Sorry, not my best joke. Your legs are quite shapely.
outside of the voluminous varicose veins, their my best feature.

But deride, deride...I just made bongs out of my last two work apples, so the end there.

Bacon wrapped eggs is a quick and easy way to have breakfast. Make a dozen or so and take them in a ziplock throughout the week. I typically whisk the eggs along with cheese and diced bell peppers before I pour it into the bacon cups. Either way you can't go wrong. Don't forget to grease the cupcake pan before adding the bacon to the cups.

Did it for the month between Thanksgiving and Xmas and dropped a quick ten, but traveling home for Xmas knocked me off the wagon. Started again on monday and already feel better. Been having nasty heartburn for the last six months or so, and that's already gone bye bye.

I'm right around 260 :porked: and want to get back to my standard 220-225. Assuming I stick with this, I should hit that target in early summer. Sooner if I actually exercise.

So yeah, early summer. :)

Ehhh... problem with all this low carb crap is you're essentially giving up (or significantly cutting back) on those starches forever... otherwise the weight comes back and quickly for the VAST majority of people.... which is why in my experience, Low carbers tend to be Yo-Yo dieters, with wild weight fluctuations down, then back up once they burn out on the lifestyle.

But, whatever works best for you, is what you should do.

Keto prompted me into Myfitnesspal for stringent carb tracking, along with a very low daily calorie intake. I hope once I lose what I want I can keep up with mfp and track calories just as well.

That and my regular exercise should keep me somewhere close to where I want to be... I hope.

What is your secret again?

you fat nerds (is that how it's done otis?) just need some discipline.

want to lose 20+ pounds in 3 months? here you go:

eat smaller portions, of everything. at a restaurant, get the 8oz filet not the 12oz. for you fast food fatties, don't supersize your ####. or better yet, stop eating fast food of any kind. :X

stop drinking all soda. yes this includes diet soda.

limit eating processed foods. that means try not to eat anything that comes out of a box, can or the freezer. aka fresh food. what a concept. :wall:

eat every 4-5 hours. don't skip meals or otherwise starve yourself

stop drinking booze. or at least cut your consumption in half or more

no sweets

drink a lot of water, at least a 2-3 liters a day

pry your fat ### off the couch and do something, anything, that elevates your heartrate for 20-30 minutes.

the hard part is sticking to it. but once you do, your body will get used to it and won't really like the processed #### you've given up. it'll still like booze though :banned:

 Or you can cut carbs and exercise.

...and still enjoy booze to a certain extent.

The booze part of this is really tough to give up, but otherwise :goodposting:

Might help to set achievable goals like only drink X nights per week, where X < 5

I also lost 50+ pounds without limiting carbs or stopping beer drinking. It's as simple as eating less and exercising more. Use myfitnesspal to keep track of everything.

Oh....My....God....

Have I died and gone to heaven?

Yes, I'm sure it's all those apples that are packing on the pounds.

Another way is to cut fat out. Of course you have to exercise. That's what has always worked for me. Eat a big salad (no cheese and crap like ham) for lunch and decent low fat dinners most of the time and you're good. Plus all the booze you can drink!!

I sure MT will tell me different but having a turkey sandwich has to be healthier that eating a bacon cheeseburger without the bun.

I'm 5'8", so I have little room on my frame to carry excess weight. Natural body weight is ~165-170. About 6 years ago, I was 240 and my family doctor read me the riot act. I'd always been fit from sports, and when I stopped in college I just poured on weight. I just literally cut back on my eating first, then what I was eating. No real secret, just calorie counted regardless of anything else on the label. I'm sure this is not optimal and I'm no doctor, but over about 12-18 months it slowly but surely got the weight off. I ate really, really conservatively Monday - Friday, gave myself a cheat day Saturday where I'd eat whatever I wanted, and scale back gradually Sunday back to regimented eating Monday - Friday, rinse and repeat over that time. I was traveling constantly for work, so I wasn't working out, just watching my intake. Once I got all the weight off, I started working out to maintain, while increasing caloric intake slightly Monday - Friday to compensate for working out, and it has worked perfectly.

Again, I'm sure you could shoot holes all through this, but it worked for me really well. Just takes patience.

Best of luck with the process.

Otis, who does the shopping in your house? Do not buy the stuff that you should not eat. And you are not a squirrel. You do not need to stock up on Oreo cookies to survive the winter.

No reason you can't start smoking crack to replace the liquor consumption. That would definitely help with the weight loss too.

I'm a black coffee drinker. That has zero impact on this, right? I see all sorts of breakfast suggestions for decaf coffee. I'd rather drink out of the toilet.
:lmao:

Talked to my doc about being tired all the time, and while we waited on the results of my testosterone blood work, he says "You know, maybe you should stop drinking coffee -- it may be keeping you up at night." I made a fist and asked him what the point of living is if I can't drink coffee.

Pretty much what I said guy..... Just with more detail. ;)

I'll give you the recipe to weighing a nice, clean 180 oats. We've done this one before, but we'll go ahead again. I'll tell you what I ate yesterday. You eat that today. We do this long enough, you'll be a slim 180 like me.

Yesterday -

2 12oz sodas

6 cups of coffee

2 Big Macs

1 medium fry

1 cosmic brownie

1 chocolate cup cake

1 bag of cherry sours

1 bag of gummy bears (made with real fruit juice)

1 bag of gummy worms (made with real fruit juice)

1 multi vitamin, 3600mg fish oil.

If you want to go for 170, let me know. I'll have to make some slight adjustments to our diet accordingly.

Also oats, we will exert no additional effort during any of this. I catch you exercising and our deal is off.

And if liquor is a problem I can work that into the diet too. How many shots do we need each day?
