Anybody here have a face tatoo? I'd sure like to hear the thought process behind that decision.
My wife's cousin has a 666 tattoo across his forehead. What a treat he is. Although I rarely see him since he spends most of his life behind bars. NTTAWWT.

One. Got it about three years ago and was excited about it for a while. I still like it but, if I were to go back in time, not sure I'd do it again.

Must have been a big fan of The Omen.
Even Damien had the sense to keep his on his scalp on the back of his head (if I recall correctly). And in small font. This guy's got them quarter sized right across the center of his forehead.

That guy could be 5'6" 125lbs. If he's got 666 on his forehead, he scares the #### out of me.

A reflection of your sound judgment no doubt.
So you're saying people that get tattoos have bad judgment?
Coupled with low intelligence and self esteem, yes. Of course it's just an opinion so don't let it ruin your day, unless of course your intelligence and self esteem require such.
:kicksrock: low intelligence? :D self esteem Ill give you. I think I have that and love how getting a tattoo makes me feel.
Only a couple of things are better than the scent of fresh ink being forcibly driven into the flesh.

I dont know if you were trying to be funny but it IS an awesome feeling. It feels almost euphoric while you are getting a tattoo.

Yup, what he said. Also to add: for all you guys saying you regret your tattoos, or you never got one because you couldn't decide... You're not a tattoo person. You either are or you're not. And if you can't decide what you want, you shouldn't be getting one.

My tattoos are personal choices that I made sure I was 100% behind before I got them. And I will never regret getting them. The only thing I regret is that my earlier ones aren't BIGGER!

This response kinda surprises me coming from you, DW. Your posts are typically well thought out and reasonable - not just taking shots at people. But I guess it's just because I'm stupid and insecure. :lmao:

WOW...im suprised by the results. Here in SoCal, Im the weird one because I dont have any tattoos....but in the FBGs world Im normal.

However, I am getting the itch to get one.

The point is: personal expression.I get tattoos (4 for the record). You do it in other ways.Got it.
Fair enough. It's also an age thing. I'm on the older end of the FBG members. I practically don't know anyone my age that has them (I'm sure many my age have them, just nobody I know). Of my 25-30 or so clostest friends, not a single one has them. And while I appreciate personal expression, I would think that as we all change as the years go by, I'd want to expresss myself in a way that doesn't involve more likelong type commitments (yes, I know laser surgery can get rid of them if need be). While I may have dressed (one small way of expressing yourself) one way when I was 20 or 30 or even 40, I might not want to express myself the same way today. I'd be a little bummed to learn I would have to dress the same way that I did back then.I would think there are a ton better ways to express yourself, mostly by what you say and how you act.I'm not condemning the act. And I am not clueless to the popularity of it (although I am shocked to see the polling results here), I just don't think it's such a great way to express yourself.

:bag: I typically judge people by what they say and how they act, except when they are FUBAR. I have heard of people wanting to get rid of tats later in life and regretful that they got it in the first place. To each his own but I have always felt that if you were capable of communicating your thoughts and beliefs through both verbal and nonverbal behavior then you would never be in a position to need a tat. Their permanence is the primary reason I would not want one. It would be like wearing the same piece of clothing everyday, IMO. Now temporary tats are a riot IMO. Had a big baseball on my back one time and let friends think I had flipped out before I told them it was fake. :suds:

:blackdot: I'm with this guy.
You would wish you had one if someone ever decapitates you and dumps you in the weeds somewhere. At least they would be able to identify your remains. Unless of course you decompose to the point where your skin rots off. Oh never mind.

Got one a couple years ago, at the age of 20. I'm quite shocked at how many people waited until after 30 to get theirs.

Having read this thread I've learned something new. I've learned that tatoos are matters of personal expression. I am fascinated that one's personal expressions are executed by others, and if this thread is any indication the others almost always reproduce third party expressions for those desiring to express themselves. Makes me wonder if the terms "expression" and "self" are truly understood. That said there have been times when I have quoted others to express myself.

Apropos of nothing my daughter was watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer this weekend. I walked in during the scene where Hermie and Rudolph, the two misfits, meet. In it Hermie tells Rudolph he is independent. Rudolph then chimes in that he too is In-D-Pen-dent. Then hermie offers that they should be independent together. An idea to which Rudolph agrees.

This is the one thing that surprised me out of all the voting results. Kind of young to get inked up.

This comment alone shows your lack of intelligence. Are you aware that when tattoo's were first applied it was in ancient Egypt and were reserved exclusively for royalty? The method of doing the tattoo was perfected in China and they are who took it to the next level. The tap method of tattooing is still used today in China and allows for the most detail in a tattoo. It has been over time that they have received the stigma of being applied only on low class and people that are either in the military or are part of a biker gang.I had my first tattoo done when I was 28. I had always wanted to get one growing up and met a very nice tattoo artist that was patient and very detailed in her work. Tattoo's are also very addictive. Once you get one and get over the stigma of the pain that is involved in getting one it is easy to get a second and or a third. In my case it is up to 11. Mine do tell a story most of mine are memories of things I have done with my 7 year old. While his toys and movies will disappear the tattoo is here to stay. As I have stated I have 11 of them and have not regretted them for a moment. I agree that tattoo's are not for everyone. They are something that should be planned out and if you have any question in your mind as to wanting to do it, then you should not do it. The other thing that I would recommend against is going into a tattoo parlor and choosing something off the wall random also known as flash. I will guarantee that you will not want it anymore in a few years. If you decide that you definately want one then you should put a lot of thought into where and what you want to get. The second step would be to make sure that you are going to a reputable tattoo parlor. They should have an autoclave to steralize the instruments that they are using and the artist should be able to make his or her own needles. Third you should set up and initial meeting for the tattoo and make sure he or she can do it. A tattoo is a piece of art it is a representation of something in your life that has meaning to you.Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I for one do not see people that have tattoo's as having low self esteem. I see the opposite, I see people that are finding a way to express their likes and dislikes in a way that has become more socially acceptable.

I have 5, with 3 more planned. Every one I have mark either an important time in my life or something near and dear to me and I got my first one 13 years ago and zero regrets.

I have one on a "private place" that says CRAZY LARRYS TRUCKSTOP. Whenever I have "happy pants" it expands to say CRAZY LARRYS TRUCKSTOP-HOME OF THE BEST PLACE LUNCHES IN THE SOUTH SINCE 1957.

What I have tattooed on my body will mean the same to me when I'm 100 as it does now. That's why I also say that tattoos are not for the trendy.

Maybe your not so bad!!I have over $4,000 worth of ink. Sleeve on left arm (wrist to shoulder) and half sleeve on right (wrist to elbow).

Tattoo's generally cost around $100.00 an hour but more for a higher profile artist.

About a month ago the National Tattoo Association's yearly convention was held here in Seattle and I secured an all day session with one of the greatest tattoo artist's in the world; Henning Jorgensen from Denmark. Nine hours later, beautiful traditional Japanese dragon coming out of water on my right arm. Nine hours at $180.00 and hour...do the math.

Side note...my wife said I could buy a plasma if I would forego my last tattoo....got the ink.

I wanna see! Pics? :) I don't have any ink. My body is too sexy to have it marked up with someone else's drawings. ;)

I have four tats, but I was inked 5 times.

My Uncle owned a tattoo shop in Beaumont, Texas and I am in the military. There was no chance to escape uninked.

Back

Scroll on upper left side with children's names and birthdates.

Chest

Covering left pectoral muscle a winged demon looking through holes torn in the flesh.

Stomach

Right side a rotting skull looking through a hole in the flesh

Left Arm

Start of a sleeve with black flames extending about four inches up the forearm. Unfinished, tattooist died of massive coronary.

Inner forearm: Cobra entwined around a rose with a skull in the center of the rose.

Back forearm: Tribal piece similar in shape to a dagger from elbow to wrist.

Top forearm: Winged panther climbing a dagger that is piercing a flaming heart.

Bicep: Grim Reaper

Inner bicep: Collage of skulls and thorned wood

Shoulder: Throwing star with ying and yang in the center

Right Arm

Inner forearm: Bird of Paradise, re-inked. All color had faded away. Traded a used autoclave for the work. Dude still owes me 3 more hours, lol.

Top forearm: One large skull w/chain through jaw and hanging off the chain are three smaller skulls.

Lower bicep: Skull mixed with black tribal.

Upper bicep: Rose with skulls linked to the rose going around arm.

Shoulder: Dragon (Seriously faded, needs to be re-inked)

Right Leg

Theme piece: From just below the knee to the ankle, castle on a mountain with a pathway leading to ankle. Moon with a skull in the moon. Dead tree with a skull formed into the base of the tree exuding smoke that is forming into the shape of a skull. This was designed from four seperate pieces.

Left Leg

Calf: Bill the Cat with the words "Comfortably Numb" inscribed underneath.

Cover-ups: Homemade piece that was a battle axe with the word "fear" under it. Covered up by the Grim Reaper. Had a tattoo of stars and planets encircling my left wrist, now covered up by the black flames.

No they wont.

I don't have any tattoos and never intend to get one unless I do something really cool and get one to remind me when I'm old. For example I might get a tattoo if I orbit the Earth or walk on the moon. I might get one if I sail around the world or climb mount Everest.

Let's see, adding up mine it comes to rougly $2000. Most of mine are singular pieces and I only paid for one by the hour at $80 an hour for 4 hours. My first professional tattoo was done at Fay's Tattoo Parlor, St. Roberts, MO. I actually got three there on the same day.

ETA: Just saw the pics. *Bows down to a tattooed god*
