Tavaris Jackson (1 Viewer)

Mr. Yuk

Footballguy
He looked pretty decent in his debut last week against the Jets. Packers pass D is ranked low, and I can also see him getting some rushing yardage and maybe a rushing TD, being this will be his first start he may be more apt to take off running if he gets in trouble. It is also a Thursday night primetime game.

Am I an idiot to think about starting him in the championship game? Granted, my other options are Rattay, Cutler, and Garrard, none of whom have great matchups besides maybe Rattay vs. Browns

Jackson might not find quite as much room to run and scramble against a D that is prepared for it.

The Pack won't have a D in place designed to stop Brad Johnson.

Cutler is the answer here.

I am starting Cutler over Eli, Leinart and VY

in my championship game.

Cincinnati secondary looked horrible last night.

Short week of rest, and playing at Mile High.

I'm going Cutler, who has been improving every game.

He should light it up this week,

I suggest you do the same.

I agree, I am starting Cutler over Hasselbeck.

"Talk me out of starting him in the championship game"Kitna
The Lions assistant coach Joe Cullen was suspended for driving nude and drunk. This will definately affect Kitna's numbers. I do not see him overcoming the weight of this incident on his physche

This ought to help your decision...

Childress fines, benches rookie Coach calls beads 'inappropriate attire' for football player MINNEAPOLIS -- Vikings head coach Brad Childress has fined rookie quarterback Tarvaris Jackson $25,000 and deactivated him for Thursday's game at Green Bay, the team reported Monday. Speaking through a web of encryption experts from MIT and the CIA, Childress told reporters Jackson was being punished for wearing "large tribal beads" on the field during Sunday's 26-13 loss to the New York Jets. "On this team, we dress appropriately for football," Childress said. "Bowties and sear sucker suits off the field, socks pulled up to the groin on the field. And we DON'T wear beads, period." When asked what the beads had to do with Jackson's energizing performance (14-for-23 for 177 yards and a touchdown in just over a quarter of action), Childress was blunt. "Listen, I don't care about statistics," Childress said. "Football is a game of integrity, played by stand-up men. Like Brad Johnson. Did you see that blue blazer with the gabardine khaki pants he was wearing after the game? Absolutely stunning. "And hey ... you'll never see Richard Owens wearing tribal beads. If the basic Vikings uniform is good enough for Richard Owens, it's good enough for Tarvaris Jackson." Jackson, a second-round draft pick from some little college in Alabama, was stunned. "I was just being me," Jackson said. "Down in 'Bama, people don't bust on you for what you wear. Sure, they still burn crosses in your yard and shout the N-word, but they respect the bling." Despite the hefty fine and benching, Jackson continued to show support for his embattled coach. "I ... love ... playing ... for ... coach ... Childress," Jackson said while reading a cue card held by armed Vikings team officials. "He's ... an ... offensive ... genius. What ... young ... quarterback ... wouldn't ... want ... to ... play ... in ... a ... sys ... what's that? ... oh, system ... like his?" Childress said that 15-year-veteran Brad Johnson will continue in his season-long role as starting quarterback for Thursday's game against the Packers. "Brad is a warrior and gives us the best chance to win in the fourth quarter," Childress said. "Especially if we're up by four touchdowns. He's particularly good in those situations." Johnson, eyes puffy from crying about his third benching this season, didn't have much to say. "I haven't talked to coach Childress about it," Johnson said. "I haven't talked to coach Childress since, like, June. There's really nothing for us to say. Besides, who wants to go through an FBI background check every time you want to stop by his office? Not me. I got things they just don't need to know. You think Tice is the only guy to ever scalp Super Bowl tickets?" Following the news that Johnson would start, Las Vegas installed the 6-8 Packers as a 27-point favorite. OTHER NEWS: The Vikings reported today that wide receiver Troy Williamson has been placed on injured reserve after dropping a cup of hot coffee on himself. (NOTE: this is FICTION)

Yeah the Cincy pass defense is so stellar. Bro this aint rocket science

Homer alert!! :goodposting:

Start Tarvaris with confidence!! He is the real deal!! (Of course, I am used to watching Brad Johnson, so Michael Jackson would be a good start for my team!!)

Honestly, I like the guy and think he will have a good game (2+ TD's), but would have a hard time starting him in a championship game. (Especially with freezing rain in the forecast).

I was in an 18 team league and lost Mcnabb for the year. Some how I've scraped through the year with Alex Smith but I feel that Tavaris will give me the best chance to win. What do you guys think.

I thought he looked great vs. the Jets in 1 quarter of play. Considering the amount of time he played , he put up huge numbers. Of course the Jets were playing a soft zone defense, but he looked to have really nice burst when scramling, and also wasnt afraid to throw it downfield. Depending on the weather, he could have a really nice game vs. the Packers

Lemme guess. You have LT and Gore, right? I dont know how you could be in a championship game with all loser QBs. And yes, you'd be an idiot to start him.

Here's a sampling of QBs and their first starts. I planned on researching all the QBs but only had time to look of AFC guys . . . (passing and rushing stats).

One of many who lost McNabb midway through, have scrounged my way through the rest of the year. No LT or Gore, in fact, after quite a few injuries I may be forced to start DAYNE  and Addai at RB, if Addai is even playing. My WRs have really carried me this year, Wayne, Walker, A Johnson, and Coles. Jackson and Dayne, what a 1-2 punch

Thanks David. Looks like a very mixed bag. Living in Minnesota I always remembered Daunte running for 3 TDs his first start. Tarvaris seems very similar to Daunte, not saying I think he'll run for 3 but I would be happy with just 1 rushing and 1 passing td.

My top 2 reasons not to start him.

1- He has never started an NFL game so that is very risky.

2- I live in MN and right now there is a rain/ice storm with high winds. Been this way since last night. I have not heard the weather forecast in GB but if it is this weather the only stats you might get is if he runs the football.

Athletic, strong arm, not the scrambler Culpepper was (not many are) but still quick on his feet. Bigger hands than Daunte? :lmao: All in all I would say not as athletically gifted or as accurate a passer(still very raw) as Culpepper was, but has the potential to be a better decision maker.I think I'm going to chicken out of starting him, as fun as it would be, but the weather forecast doesn't sound great and the Packers secondary seems to have improved recently.

Jets were up 26-7 and to say that they were playing a prevent defense in the 4th quarter would be an understatement. Hell, on a couple of plays, they only had Dwayne Robertson on the d-line. To put any kind of trust on a raw rookie like this in the playoffs would be insane.

Wow kudos to you. I think Dayne is a good start right now, he's been putting up decent #'s the last few weeks. Its about time someone gave that guy a shot.

I hope none of you guys were stupid enough to start Jackson in a championship game. Dont say I didnt warn ya. (Same thing will happen with Rattay)

Glad I didn't start Jackson, actually I think he looked alright, but the Vikings offense is HORRIBLE, I think even Brady would look bad in their scheme. They really need some recievers or a stud TE that can actually catch. I decided I'll start Cutler if Javon Walker plays, otherwise I'm going with Raaaattay!
