The first step I would take is to verify that it's really from a government agency (by Googling to see if there is a state agency with that exact name), and not from a private business designed to look like a government agency.
I don't know about New York, but in California there are private businesses named stuff like "The Department of Corporations" that try to make it seem as if they're affiliated with the Secretary of State, and they tell you that you need some document or another and they will take care of it for you for $200 (when most people they send the notice to don't actually need it, and if they do, it only costs $5 from the actual Secretary of State).
This might be a lead-in to something similar.
If it really is from a government agency, then I have no clue what it would be about, but I kind of doubt that it has anything to do with FanDuel. But who knows?
Thanks. Hmmmm. I called the tax dept and the guy told me he saw nothing in my file that would trigger an attempt to contact me. I'll check out the letter again when I get home from work.
edit - first post edited. was a notice relating to the electronic transfer of my tax refund.
