TE Evan Engram, DEN (1 Viewer)

Thats pretty strong. Basically McCaffrey or Thomas for him although from your point of view Howard upgrading from McCaffrey and giving up Thomas for Engram as perhaps a downgrade.
Well, it’s all about context, RT?  I have a strong squad but was weak at te after losing eifert to suckage and then injury.  My starting te has been ASJ for the last 3 weeks and while he has been decent, Engram represents a serious upgrade.

I am strong at wr so I was able to give up thomas and still have hogan, Hill, and baldwin as my starters.  My top rbs were ajayi, martin and mccaffery followed by stash guys like Alex Collins, d’onta Foreman, prosise.  Mccaffery wasn’t going to see my lineup anyway unless as a bye week fill in.  And even then I was worrying BC it’s a standard scoring league and he’s very shaky in standard.

So in the trade I basically traded thomas and a bench Rb for a rb1 and a te1.

Where are we ranking him going forward in dynasty? He seems like he has a legit shot to finish top 3 as a rookie. Obviously Gronk is still 1, but I'm not sure I'd take another TE straight up for him. This kid is gonna be a perennial all-pro.

He and obj are basically the future of the franchise.  From a physical and athletic standpoint there may not be a more talented TE in the league.  Maybe Kelce is on par with him except Engram is faster.  Gronk is amazing but it’s more BC he’s just a big body with great hands.  Engram is basically a sick wr playing TE.   He’s going to be what Jordan Reed could have been if he wasn’t made of glass.

News flash: Gronk has been dethroned by Kelce. Hell, in my PPR league Zach Ertz has outscored Gronk by 18 points. Evans is only 16 points behind Gronk, and that's with the goose egg Evans put up week 5.

Kelce and Evans are the TEs to own, both in dynasty and now.

The only worry for Evans is Manning's age and effectiveness, but considering that the Giants will have a top 3 pick in 2018, I'd expect them to draft a talented replacement.

Dynasty .. I own Kelce and Engram --- seriously considering trading Kelce for a top WR and running with Engram
Tough call between the two. Both will have new young QBs within a year or two. The advantage for Kelce is you'll know what he has in Malhommes as early as 2018, while Manning's heir is still undrafted.

Don't make the mistake of rostering a good receiver with an uncertain QB future. I speak as a Demaryius Thomas owner.

In 2 years Kelce will be 30.  Not a death blow to a TE but definitely a factor in valuing him.

It takes a drastic overpay to get him from me in dynasty at this point.
Dynasty .. I own Kelce and Engram and go back and forth on which one to deal as I am out of contention .. offered this to a fringe playoff team needing a qb and wr...

Brees, Engram and #22 pick (as of today) in rookie draft next year

for

Luck, Henry, and #6 pick (as of today) in rookie draft next year

He is thinking on it.  I could probably do Engram or Kelce in that deal.

I'd try to trade Kelce - he should have better trade value due to name recognition and is still the safer play short term (Giants offense may get even worse). Plus Engram is the better keeper for your situation even if you have ranked Kelce ahead of him.

This dude was the last pick for me in 16 team redraft. Was shuffling to find anyone left and just picked first name I saw

If Hernandez didn't do heroin and kill people and didn't have to share targets with Gronk he would be Engram...this kid looks legit...he has a chance to be an upper-echelon player for a lot of years...

People keep talking about Engram like he's only a benefactor of the rest of the team being hurt but I see this guy as a long term fantasy asset.

he's a great long term asset.  I can't think of any other TE i'd rather have in dynasty.  i can see arguments for Kelce/Ertz/Gronk over him but that's it.

Absolutely.

Engram is doing what I had hoped Ebron would do but didn't.

Coincidentally Engram looks like he will be the outlier most productive TE as a rookie since Jeremy Shockey.

When Odell Beckham gets back its only going to help Engram as defenses will not be able to focus as much attention on him.

Is this a no-brainer to trade Dion Lewis for Engram in re-draft...particularly since my only TE is ASJ? Just checking because if feels like such a steal...

#1 TE in dynasty for me. I tried desperately to trade for him in both my dynasty leagues before the season started. Not getting him is going to haunt me for a long time.

I’m so glad I drafted him while Howard and David went early in the 1st round I watched as Engram fell to me at the end of the 1st. I believe I actually shed a tear or two...... :sniff sniff:

Howard is a better prospect imo but in a much much worse situation that doesn't look like it's getting better anytime soon. Winston is a fraud and Brate is taking to many targets and not going anywhere......sucks because Howard is special.

Howard is good but so is Evans who is faster than most WRs and RBs. If I had the choice with both on the board it’s Evans every time but that’s why we play this game. If everyone agreed or though like me I wouldn’t have the players on my team that I have now. You’re right about Winston I’m not a believer in his skill set, if you want to call it that.

I took him as the first TE in my 14-team rookie draft last year at 2.02. Almost took him at 1.7 but had a feeling first TE would last and I was right. Ironically, Howard ended up going off the board after Njoku.

I think OJ could easily have a better NFL career, but Engram is almost like he was created in a Madden lab specializing in fantasy football tight ends. He's gonna be a stat vacuum for years to come.

He had an end zone target! From Vereen... He also negated a long catch by means of OPI. Just an all-around basura performance.

So... what the hell happened to this guy on Sunday? One catch? Seriously?
Didn't watch and real curious how he basically goose egged in a game without Shepard. Just no targets or a crap game?

Maybe this helps explain it?

Scott Barrett‏ @ScottBarrettDFB

Kansas City allowing the fewest fantasy points per game to tight ends when lined up in-line, but the fourth-most to tight ends when lined up in the slot. Evan Engram running just 24.6% of his routes from the slot (lowest rate among tight ends).

How freaked out should we be about the Geno news? Hard to judge his history of targeting the TE considering the Jets didn't have one on their roster when he was there.

I'm rolling with ASJ over Engram.
I have Doyle, but with Crabtree suspended I have to start him at flex. And even if the suspension was lifted, I still might start him in place of Dez.

Have I mentioned that my pass catchers are a hot mess?

Let's just say I put in for two TEs on the WW. Other than that, I'm not worried.  :lmao:

Wow...I must be in a haze today as I didn't even think of that impact of Geno on Engram.  I got Rudolph as a throw in on a deal this past week and am now very thankful for that!

Thank God I traded that stiff, Dion Lewis, for Engram. What the hell happened to this kid? Can't seem to catch the freaking ball.

With Geno Smith, looks like his value will drop even further...ASJ come on down!

What makes you guys think that Geno won’t target the crap out of Engram?  He and Sheppard are pretty much all they have.

Who else did they have the last 2 weeks when Engram put up 2 stinkers?
True but that had less to do with his qb and more to do with poor play from Engram.    I think he’s in a slump and his talent will rise up.  He’s risky no doubt and I won’t lie I’m considering Charles Clay over him this week just to see what happens with Geno.

But I think the targets will be there and as long as he breaks out of his mental slump he should be fine.

I don't know how he'll do with Geno but we won't see Geno as the starter past this week.  Davis and Engram have a good connection, I recall them talking back in camp how they'd been working out a lot together. I think Davis might actually be good for him.
