TE Taysom Hill, NO (3 Viewers)

Picked him up on Friday waivers for $10, stunningly no one else bid. In my league the history is that people have thrown as much as $30 at him during his heyday as a QB/goalline RB/occasional TE.he's been a staple of lineups for two of my league members. I have Fannin Jr. so e TE room is very orthodox.
Getting his leg exploded will put a damper on his value until people see it. Then we’ll all run to the wire to grab him after his blowup game. Then we’ll start him and he’ll get 2 carries for 8 yards. Then we’ll drop him. Then our opponent that next week will grab him and get 36 fantasy points out of him against you crushing your soul into eternity.

And that my friend… is the life of a Taysom Hill owner.

Exactly why Im not grabbing him.
Plus hes 35 years old coming off a bad injury.
It will take him a while to get the rust off and get in to game shape.

If JJ is healthy enough to play, he'll still be the main target, while Foster n Hill getb up to speed...
Plus the QB has a good connection with JJ,so he's not gonna stop throwing to him even with the other two TEs back..

You just knocked that experience into the Wrigley ivy for a ground-rule double. It’s perfect but you’re forgetting the added bonus of the platform you’re on changing his position to QB because that “is really his position and TE gives people who roster him an unfair advantage.”

So, say you gave up a second (!) because you felt like a big spender and you have a void at TE. You can deal with the variance, right? And then, in the offseason these clowns change his position to QB rendering him useless. And you are just steamed, and inevitably you’re pressed for roster spots so you release him into the wild. So these clowns, for whatever reason (and there are FAAB issues where I finished second and our dollars are budgeted by finish and by reverse order, so I can’t really compete for guys in the offseason) re-designate him in the next offseason to TE.

I’m sorry. Quoi? Did they really do that?

Anyway, I apologize for the gripe. I was watching the Dodgers/Phillies game. Your post was amusing, though.

When you can put Taysom into your TE spot, he is worth every penny. From 2019 thru 2024, he's averaged 7 TD's, and here are his PPR and non-PPR finishes:
2019 - TE12/TE21 - with Drew Brees at QB
2020 - TE3/TE7 - with Drew Brees at QB
2021 - TE5/TE21 (in 12 games) - with Jameis Winston at QB
2022 - TE3/TE9 - with Andy Dalton at QB
2023 - TE7/TE12 - with Derek Carr at QB
2024 - TE14/TE26 (in 8 games) - with Derek Carr at QB

Even in PPR last year, Taysom was TE6 in PPG. In non-PPR, he was TE2 in PPG. A healthy Taysom combined with an unhealthy Juwan could mean Taysom is very startable.

I would be careful assuming that Kellen Moore uses him anywhere close to the role he had under Dennis Allen. New year, new regime.

I'm sure Moore has seen the success Hill has had in he past. If Moore was smart, he would continue to use Hill the same way. It works.

Sure, you could say that about anyone. Before Dennis Allen become HC, Taysom had 3 great years with Sean Payton, and both HC's used him all over the field. If Kellen Moore is going to use him differently, how so?

Maybe. Maybe not. It has been reported that during the week he was meeting with BOTH the TEs AND QBs. I think that's a pretty good clue on how they plan to use him.

I guess what I don't really get is why there aren't more Taysom Hills used in the NFL. What did he do so differently than, say, Tebow or Blake Bell or any million guys who played QB in HS in Texas and then maybe moonlighted or even in college but aren't NFL worthy passers, but can catch a couple wide open passes and run a couple options and make an easy throw or two for 5-10 touches a game?

Taysom Hill rushed six times for negative one yard and threw a pass for 19 yards in a Week 5 win over the Giants.

Hill made his season debut after being activated off the PUP list this week following offseason knee surgery. The 35-year-old wasn’t targeted in the passing game and saw most of his action on the last drive of the game when the Saints were trying to run out the clock. He’s unlikely to be fully healthy for a few weeks, and Kendre Miller is now healthy, so there isn’t really a fantasy-friendly role here.

Nathan Jahnke - NFL Week 5 Recap: Immediate fantasy football takeaways from Sunday's games

Taysom Hill and Foster Moreau return: The Saints were at full strength at tight end for the first time this season.

Juwan Johnson (ankle), Hill (knee) and Moreau (knee) were all questionable. Hill and Moreau started the season on the PUP list, but both were brought onto the 53-man roster on Saturday. Backup tight end Moliki Matavao was released to help make room for the other tight ends.

Johnson’s playing time has been on a slow and steady decline since Week 1. It seemed like this would be the perfect storm for a significant decrease in snaps. Instead, it just continues his steady decline. He is still playing notably more than he did in any game last season.

The Moreau and Hill additions led to a significant increase in three- and four-tight-end sets. New Orleans used eight three-tight-end sets over the first four weeks and ran 13 plays out of three-tight-end sets this week. The Saints had not used a four-tight-end set before this week, but they used four in this game.

Moreau is primarily a run-blocking tight end and could eventually play more, taking time from Jack Stoll. However, Hill could become fantasy-relevant. He only played nine snaps in this game, but he ran the ball six times and threw a 19-yard pass. He took six snaps at quarterback, one at running back, one at tight end and one in the slot. This was his first week back and first week of practice with a new coaching staff. His playing time could increase with more practice. It’s also possible that Hill gets traded, and if that happens, he would likely land with the Denver Broncos, another team that would likely give him significant touches.

Hill remains someone who could be a cheat code at tight end, given his rushing attempts. The time to pick him up is now, before he has his first big game of the season.
Bingo.

"I feel confident in my knee ... I don't feel like I'm lacking as a result of this injury.

#Saints QB/TE Taysom Hill opens up about returning from a season-ending injury suffered in December of 2024.

"I'm trying to do whatever it takes to get in the end zone. If Taysom scores on a run, I'm equally as fired up."

#Saints QB Tyler Shough on coming off the field in favor of Taysom Hill in the red zone.

It’s days like today that I miss @Sigmund Bloom start/sit thread he used to run on the weekends. Was always fun seeing his answers.

This isn’t a start sit question, but as a subscriber… I can’t help but notice Bloom has Mr. Hill ranked quite highly this week.

Bloom or Bust!

Is this his week to explode?

I think the time was coming to see what they had in Kendre Miller and now that attention should shift to Devin Neal.

I think Kendre was going to deal with this also. Neal is not nearly the athlete that Kendre or Taysom is. Ever see Taysom get in the wildcat and get going from a direct snap? Better buckle your chinstrap. He's going to fall off at some point, but the time before the knee issue was not that time.

Hill has fallen off the cliff hasn’t he? He hasn’t looked effective at all.

Surprised zero chatter. Had 10 carries last week., Neal a little banged up along with Olave. MIA D improved but not exactly a juggernaut.

Decide hail mary flex.
I’m starting him on one league, but that team also absolutely crushed it on Thursday, so I’m not concerned about the downside.

The true upside might be rest of season if something were to happen to Shough injury wise. Do they go back to Rattler? Or let Taysom cook.

I think his days of playing starting QB are over no matter what happens. But. If I make it to the championship game and get beat by some owner with Hill as a starting QB in the tight end position I quit. Ha ha

The playcalling has been terrible. They don’t use Hill to pass the ball so opposing defenses are stacked on the line. The offensive line especially center has been rocked by injuries. It’s been rough to watch. But usage hasn’t been a problem, I’ll say that much.

This might be the best reason to burn a roster spot on him.

He might have. I have not seen his return nor commented on it (and did not mean to imply anything). I have not seen him since the injury. He still had it and was eating into Kamara (who was losing it then and I was gently trying to say it but that’s never received well, and everybody just hates you unless that particular everybody has the backup RB, which is lovely that the board has become simply one big ball of id— and maybe always was exactly that, but I’ve read a bunch of old threads and if people can’t see the decline from what I’ll post in two minutes for the garbage that passes as “Shark” today then I’ll just tip my cap and wish them well) when he was injured.

This year, once Kendre got hurt and Shaheed was trade bait to purgatory was the part where I exited until finding out I’d better watch Shough and check in on Neal, who I’ve seen plenty of but am curious how a lack of long speed and jumping burst translate to the field. Other guys have overcome it with vision and just a feel for operating in windows and tight spaces.

Seriously, I wonder if some people could even begin to outline or guess what this is about.

Like Kamara, I suspect Hill is another fan favourite but he's 35 and the end has to be near, no? I'm sure he can still truck a few more people and score a few more TDs down the stretch but if I was a Saints fan, I'd likely prefer to give Neal some run.

What an interesting player. Weird contract, attempt ton play QB but has elite games 4 times a year.

One of the most unique players the league has ever seen.

Estime will be a huge thorn in Neals side.
Taysom is Neal’s problem today IMO.
That horrid OL will be both Taysom Hill's and Audric Estime's problem. Neal may not do much either rushing the ball, but at least he could be relevant as a pass catcher.
I dion't think Estime is a factor and Taysom is a huge part of the gameplan.

Yeah that 10 carries for 20 yards by Hill will be awesome.

Beats 7 for 18 last I checked.

Well that went about as bad as it couldve possibly went. 10 carries Week 12. 1 carry Week 13.

To add insult to injury the last play the offense ran was a QB sneak with Shough on 4th &:1.
