TE Taysom Hill, NO (1 Viewer)

I think you can stick him in Flex in certain leagues if you like your TE. I've had Otton as my TE and may play them both going forward after Hill's bye.

Would it be totally crazy to consider starting Taysom ... at QB?

The answer is probably yes, but hear me out: I have him in a 14-team, non-PPR league where we start 2 RBs, 2 WRs and a WR/TE flex. I'm pretty stacked at WR now that everyone is finally healthy (Nico, Evans, Higgins, Davante, JJennings) and have Njoku at TE. Meanwhile, Bo Nix has his upcoming bye in Week 14, and the current options on the WW are either so-so QBs with terrible matchups that week (Rodgers vs Miami, Jameis vs. Pitt) or unreliable QBs with good matchups (TLaw vs Tenn, Levis vs. Jax, Minshew vs TB). The other things you need to know are that it's Yahoo, so Hill as QB/TE eligibility, and this league's scoring is 1pt = 35 passing yards and 4pt passing TDs, so a decent QB outing is only like 12-15 points. If Taysom gives me 60 YFS and a TD, that's comparable

I suppose TLaw (assuming he's back) or Jameis are probably the best spot starts in that situation, especially given Taysom's floor, but if they keep building the offensive game plan around him, it's not the craziest idea. I'll see how things play out when he's back from bye next week before making my decision

Looks like I'm far from the only one who used him for McBride. Seems well set up now back from injury, all the backup RBs injured, all the good WRs injured...great playcaller.

It was pretty awesome watching him go off though.
I am our league’s commissioner. I used him with McBide on a bye. In CBS he was classified as a TE 2 days after our draft Sept 4th. Now the guy who drafted him thinking he was a TE is mad at me because I should have told everybody in the league when he was switched to a TE. Hell, I didn’t know myself. I told the guy after our draft he was a QB so he dropped Hill and picked up a different TE.

Falls under the "you had access to the same FA pool the same amount of time as me" rule

Now do I keep him as a backup to McBride or ever consider playing him over McBide?

There's no universe I'm playing him over McBride. Just looking at past few years of usgae and spikes.

Depending on my team, I absolutely consider him as a flex. I have one team that if he wasn't on bye too, he'd be playing for sure this week.

I’ve had a couple of beers. But hear me out.

Immediately in the running for POTY. I could just feel it.

Then you get to Daniel Jones is the successor to Taysom Hill and whoa, Nelly, we’ve got a dandy on our hands here.

eta* Aw, you saw Rubi’s post in the Daniel Jones thread. I’m deducting -2 for joke plagiarism and sending you the POTY headquarters so that you can do the right thing and give your trophy back.

If nothing else, it blocks anyone else from getting him. It also depends on who else is available that you can use. There are a couple of big bye weeks left.

I have many flaws… but I don’t read Daniel Jones threads.

Now that I'm sober...

How about this?

Daniel Jones AND Taysom Hill on the Saints next year. They could run The Veer.

The best thing about the veer is that it masks a bad OL.

If you have a top TE like Kittle are you hanging onto Hill too? Taysom roulette still worth in as a flex?

I have McBride and added Taysom. It was an easy decision considering I didn’t need to hold a questionable Mattison.

I’m not sure that Taysom can consistently put up top 5 TE numbers, but that chance is not zero.

I have Kelce, and picked up Taysom so that I wouldn't face him in the playoffs. Most likely wouldn't start anywhere.
Would you hold him over RB depth like tank or Charbs ? Weak RB team.
Perhaps not, given what is needed for the roster. I would package up with one of your depth RBs and see what you can get.

I bullish on him the rest of the way. Obviously I'm not expecting 30+ points again, but with all the WR injuries and the coaching change it's at least possible that he has more steady touches in all situations moving forward and that's going to make him pretty valuable at TE. It's worth noting that on a per game basis he was the #8 TE in my league before his blow up game. If you have Kittle or Bowers then you aren't benching them for Hill, but almost anyone else I think it's going to be a consideration considering the upside of being involved in the running game and the occasional pass too.

Ian Rapport
#Saints do-it-all TE Taysom Hill, who was carted off today, is feared to have suffered a season-ending knee injury, sources say.

No final diagnosis yet, as he’ll have an MRI to determine the severity of the injury. But feared to be significant. A tough blow.

Welp.
