TE Terrance Ferguson, LAR (1 Viewer)

If he's better than Higbee...why isn't he playing now? Is the coach incompetent? I'll believe it when I see it. Seems these players get drafted and if they don't play right away...they are replaced by someone else within a year or 3. I could be wrong.

It's the old saying the veteran gets the benefit of doubt. In my mind there is no doubt that Ferguson should be playing over Higbee if you're basing it on talent. But we all know the real world doesn't work that way.

I am very high on Ferguson but he is the future and still learning...Higbee is a veteran leader who they trust in all facets of the game right now...they will continue to work Ferguson in and he will have his moments but I don't see him leap-frogging Higbee this year.

Happening all over the league.

I said this recently discussing Jaylin Noel and Burden as examples.

I think by and large the coaches are good but I personally feel one of the bigger mistakes they make is veteran deference, over emphasis on the guy who “does what he’s coached” and not willing to learn from the young players mistakes.

I just think we’ve seen many examples over the years were coaches are slow to trust a young guy, an injury will force their hand, and then the young player will make it abundantly clear he should have been playing more a long time ago.

I’d cite a recent TE example as Loveland. Ben Johnson is, to me, quite obviously a very good coach. I’m sure he has his reasons for slow playing Burden and Loveland. Kmet goes down, he’s forced to rely more on Loveland this week, and 💥! I think the same outcome would happen if he was forced to use Burden more.

Meanwhile Jayden Higgins acquitted himself well when called on to start due to injuries. Back to a backup role though when everyone healthy. Behind all world Xavier Hutchinson.

Demeco said Jaylen Noel was probably their most explosive player 2 weeks ago. He made plays 2 weeks in a row and looked like he was giving the offense a badly needed jolt. But he was splitting time with Berrios and when Kirk got back his role went down to mainly being the punt returner.

It’s not uncommon to get slow played and Ferguson missed most of the training camp.

His role is slowly growing and I’m a big believer even it’s going slower than I’d like.

Another week, another big play from Terrance Ferguson.

- 21-yard reception in WK5
- 31-yard TD in WK7
- 36-yard & 18-yard receptions in WK9
- 32-yard reception in WK10

Dalton Kincaid is the only TE averaging more YPRR than Ferguson (2.82) this season.
Stafford is a kingmaker and if Ferguson can eventually become a top-3 overall target earner on the Rams, he could be a league winner. They’re bringing him along slowly so it’s not going to happen this season, but he’s flashing every time he gets his opportunities. Very bright future for the kid.

Definitely...also love the fact they targeted him in the draft with legit draft capital (a second-rounder)...he has a chance to be really valuable in Dynasty...I know I am very high on him.

McVay wanted Bowers last year and rumor has it the Rams offered to trade up to the Panthers’ #8th overall spot this year because they wanted Loveland. McVay wanted a TE who is a vertical threat down the seam and finally got one in Ferguson.
