Maxx was averaging 5-60 in the 3 games before the injury. Ertz could be a good RZ target.

We can only hope!
He had 27 Targets in last 4 games while Maxx had 17 in 5 games.
QB upgrade, OL upgrade, complimentary receiving weapons upgrade.... but Distribution will be key.

NFLPA would never allow it. One player does it, others could be asked to. The union is there to protect players.

One problem I didn't think of is Ertz will be playing both of the games in the same time zone. Don't think the league will allow a player to double up in one time zone.Smart move.

I mean, even before I knew about the CBA, it was pretty obvious he wouldn't be playing Sunday, for many reasons. But it is kind of ironic that, every week, two full teams play with just one extra day of rest than Ertz would have if he played this Sunday.SoBeDad said:

Not to mention they get paid by pro-rated game checks. Imagine if he got 18 regular season game checks and others got only 17....there would be an uproar by the other members of the NFLPA...

Grabbed him off waiver 2 minutes before kickoff last night, I was late getting in and found out Goedert was out and know the Bucs have been soft although last night much of the game they were at least solid.
Rewarded with a double digit return last night and now he stumbles upon Arizona and gets a massive upgrade at QB...Kyler Murray is going to fall in love with Zac Ertz and ZE is going to be TNT the rest of the way. Ertz was injured in previous seasons and is mostly healthy and was wide open last night several times and Jalen Hurts flat missed him or did not see him, that's about to change for Ertz and I don't feel like he is as washed up as some folks think he is.
Great move for Ertz and the Cards, he lands on an undefeated team with a strong chance to advance in the Playoffs, you don't think he is going to be motivated more than he already typically is? This looks like a potential awesome ride for anyone with Ertz the rest of the way.

I mean, I suppose the answer is that this is what was collectively bargained. The fact that there are weekly TNF games is objectively ridiculous, but if that's what the players agreed to then we can't really say it was "unfair".
Also, I have zero knowledge of how NFL salaries work -- do players not receive a check during bye weeks? -- but I can't imagine there's any way this could result in him getting more money. If a player's salary is $17M per year, that doesn't mean it's actually $1M per game, and therefore if he plays an 18th game he gets an extra mil, right? I would assume they would just adjust the pro-rated amount of each check.
I remember a decade ago when Randy Moss got traded midseason from the Pats to the Vikings, there was a minor kerfuffle over the fact that the Pats had not yet had their bye but the Vikings had, which meant he could potentially not have a bye that year. It became moot when the Vikes subsequently waived him and he signed with the Titans, who had also not yet had their bye. And also he sucked that year so no one was starting him on their fantasy roster anyway.

Picked him up this week as a spot start for Pitts' bye. Was planning on dropping him, but now I suppose I'll hold on for a couple weeks and see how it goes in his new situation. League allows a WR/TE flex so he could theoretically be startable alongside Pitts

i think that there have been players who have played 17 games in a 16 game season due to bye weeks.

Yes there have been 8 players in past seasons that had 16 games who played 17. Jerry Rice being one of those.
I guess what I'm trying to articulate is that I would think Ertz could have a grievance if he has to play 18 when others only play 17 for same level of pay given prorated game checks right? I would imagine there has to be some form of compensation there if that happens.

Looking for a read of the room here. Do you expect Ertz's fantasy production to rise or fall from what we've seen from him in Philly so far this year? He has escaped a limiting timeshare only to arrive at a destination that has many other mouths to feed and underutilizes the TE. More upside or downside gong forward?

More upside. Better team, better QB and the only game in town at TE. Take a look at Maxx Williams stats before he got injured. It wasn’t bad. I’m thinking Ertz is better than Maxx. But, there will be some real small weeks due to the nature of the offense and the multitude of weapons.

let's assume about the same usage as Maxx. Where this would concern me is, according to the FBG tool, Maxx has had all of one redzone target in 5 weeks before his injury. Even with the timeshare, Ertz had more opportunities with the Eagles. So basically a wash i think from old situation to new situation for Ertz. Goedert probably sees an uptick in production because of this move, so he's the winner. in non-PPR Ertz would be well outside of top 10 TE even after this move and closer to TE20.

Well I am skeptical that he will be anything like a target hog in Arizona. Special packages here and there but even with the byepocalypse going on I'm not sure I can put him in there.

Option is Gio, Josh Gordon or Agholor so the Extra PPR bonus makes it strong consideration

Name one WR Philly deploys weekly as their WR1, WR2, Slot, all of it...name one that is as good as Hopkins-Green-Kirk, heck even their rookie Rondale Moore looks like a gem right now and they all have a common factor, Kyler Murray is zipping the ball around and he has an UNBEATEN FOOTBALL TEAM he is welcoming Zach Ertz on to.
-Ertz might only play 20-25-30 snaps but he is going to be running around WIDE OPEN and I promise Murray is going to find him. I bet he rips off a nice one in the 20-30 range, has a couple more along the way. Something like 4/64 and maybe a red zone look or two whether he actually scores a TD or not.
This where talent meets talent meets talent meets opportunity.
This is where Ertz starts working on his HoF section of his resume helping Arizona win a Super Bowl and getting his 2nd ring.
Houston might just pass out some plays looking at this Offense and that's exactly what some of these plays are going to look like on Sunday, Houston just passed out before the snap of the ball

3//66/TD and he also just missed on a Redzone target that would have been another TD and 20 yds, dude was wide open a few times and he doesn't need a lot of space to be effective. Opens up lanes to other WRs, just hope he can stay healthy and I believe he will make most FF Players pretty happy.
