Team Projections: Green Bay Packers (1 Viewer)

Unlucky

Phenom
I will be releasing my projections on a team-by-team basis, as I complete them. I will then post analysis here for discussion.

My Packers' Projections: http://www.phenomsff.com/projections/teams/gb.html

Until I figure out a way to post a viewer friendly version, you'll have to visit the link.

Key players:

Favre: 321/529/60.7% for 3681/19 and 20/40 rushing

Morency: 290/1189/7 and 45/315/1

Jackson: 90/351/1 and 10/75/0

Driver: 90/1260/8

Jennings: 66/911/5

Analysis:

This was a tough team. Favre has thrown a TON the last two years, and I just don't think that keeps up. His comp% should rebound a little, but the attempts have to come down.

At the RB spot, I don't think they want to go with a RBBC. If they have to, they will, but I think Morency wins the job and gets most of the carries. The other guys will contribute, including Miree and Herron, but Morency should get the bulk. I have no idea where he's going in drafts right now, but Morency is a gamble I'd be willing to take.

Driver is consistent and very good. Jennings showed good things last year, and should have some decent improvement this year. Don't get carried away though - Driver is still the #1.

Overall, I see the number of offensive plays dropping, but the rushing plays remaining steady. The schedule is medium to tough - definitely not easy.

The RB position on this team has always been a strong play in PPR leagues. I will be watching this training camp battle pretty close.

I liked what I saw in Morency last year. I think he can be a really good back in that offense. Definitely a strong sleeper. Although I must admit, I dont know a thing about the other back they drafted, Jackson.

So Morency goes from scrub running back to breakout star at 27 years old? Nah I don't see it. Not every team has to have a quality starting running back.

I picked up Morency last year very close to the end of the draft. Now, I have the 1.04 pick this year, and thinking of drafting B. Jackson. This way, I will own the starting RB in GB, unless they go out and get a veteran such as Dillon.

I'm in the exact same situation owning Morency and the 1.4. I am also in need of a franchise QB so I am going on the idea that Morency wins the job and take Russell. Last year spelling A. Green, he did quite well, other than the fumbles. Everything I've seen from Jackson says back-up, from the videos being passed around and the fact that the Pack traded down before taking him.

That is quite random that we have the same situation going on. I do, however, own Tom Brady, so I am ok in the QB situation. I would take Brady Quinn if I were you over Russell, but that is obviously dependent upon who signs prior to camp. I don't think I have a choice but to take B. Jackson. The only other player I can justify taking at 1.04 would be Michael Bush, but he may miss some of the '07 season

Saving the hijack, I think 19 is a very low TD estimate for Favre, especially if none of the RBs step up to be "that back".

He's had 20 and 18 the last two years, and I have Rodgers penciled in for 1. I suppose it could be the low side, as it's not likely for him to only throw 16 or 17, while he could have 23 or 24 and I wouldn't be that surprised. Where would you distribute the extra TDs? RBs, TE, WR?

One thing to at least consider, when it comes to passing yards.

Favre needs 3,862 yards this season to pass Marino for the all-time record.

I know that teams always say that they don't consider things like that, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were a subtle emphasis down the stretch to throw a lot. Especially if the Packers aren't in the playoff hunt. And, of course, Favre would need to have a solid first half of the season to put him in the position of chasing that record.

I probably should of said low instead of very low, and again, you see Morency doing better than I do. I see Favre in the 23-25 TD range. Add 3-4 to the TE position and give 3-4 to the #3/4 WRs.

Michael Turner will lead the Packers in rushing in 2007..

they keep pestering KC about LJ, so that shows their not too happy with the current stable of RB's they have. Morency has never proven a thing, except that he is more injury prone than Robert Smith..Brandon Jackson is already nicked up, but even if he's ready for camp, what's he shown in college to make you thing he's going to be a star RB in the NFL?

the fact that they keep asking about LJ, means a lot..I'd bet when things officially get under way and camps open, GB is going to start inquiring about guys like Turner, Betts, Dayne ( already plays in a GB-type of offense), maybe even Fraud Taylor...

Do you have a link to an article that talks about GB inquiring about LJ? I haven't seen anything since pre-draft.
