Team Projections: Houston Texans (1 Viewer)

Phenom
I will be releasing my projections on a team-by-team basis, as I complete them. I will then post analysis here for discussion.

My Texans' Projections (hey, that rhymes!): http://www.phenomsff.com/projections/teams/hou.html

Until I figure out a way to post a viewer friendly version, you'll have to visit the link.

Key players:

Schaub: 293/481/60.9% for 3166/16 and 41/123/2 rushing

Green: 292/1139/7 and 47/343/1

Dayne: 60/237/3 and 5/30/0

Daniels: 44/462/5

Johnson: 102/1326/7

Walter: 48/552/3

Analysis:

There are things to like, and things to dislike about the Texans this year. Talent-wise, Schaub and Green are an upgrade. The coaching staff has coached good offenses before. Daniels looks good, and Andre Johnson is a stud. However, there are no receiving threats after these two, and the O-line is still questionable.

Schaub hasn't really played that much. There have been other backup QBs to land starting jobs with other teams, and the results are mixed. Rob Johnson and Scott Mitchell come to mind for me, which isn't good. Delhomme, on the other hand, did well. If the situation was a little better, I could Schaub really excelling, but for now, I'll be skeptical.

Does Ahman Green have anything left? I think he still does, but not much. The good thing is that this offense is the same that he ran in GB. The bad news is that he's running behind the Texans' offensive line.

Daniels should improve in year two as this offense utilizes the TE. It helps that Johnson is the only other threat, so Daniels should get looks. Johnson will get more looks, or at least better looks this year with Moulds and Carr gone.

Green ranked 15th last year missing 2 and a half games. I doubt he's a Top 5 guy ever again but he should be adequate. The Texans used 7 guys at RB last year and I doubt most could name 3 of them. Yet Green comes into an offense which by many accounts will be much improved by the absence of Carr and their team ypc goes down?Again, I'm not saying it won't happen, but run blocking has not been the problem and in theory better passing could equal more room to run.

I'm just not sure that Green has the breakaway speed anymore, so he'll get pounded a lot. At the most, I'll give him 4.0 YPC, which boosts his yards by 30. Not a big deal.
