Now that Chambers and Booker are gone, I guess he's the new #1 on Miami by default right?

19 Ginn Jr., Ted WR 5-11 178 4/12/85 R Ohio State '08 Cleveland, OH D1, '07

15 Reed, Kerry WR 6-1 191 12/24/84 1 Michigan State '07 Homestead, FL FA, '08

83 Camarillo, Greg WR 6-1 190 4/18/82 2 Stanford ’05 Menlo Park, CA W, '07 (S.D.)

82 Hagan, Derek WR 6-2 203 9/21/84 2 Arizona State '06 Palmdale, CA D3, '06

18 Williams, Chandler WR 5-11 184 8/9/85 R Florida International '07 Miami, FL FA, ;07

There's your wide receiver roster. Need another laugh? Here's the QB roster:

7 Bramlet, Casey QB 6-4 227 4/2/81 2 Wyoming '04 Wheatland, WY FA, '07

8 Baker, Matt QB 6-2 212 5/11/83 1 North Carolina '06 Rochester Hills, MI FA, 08

17 Lemon, Cleo QB 6-2 215 8/16/79 4 Arkansas State ’01 Greenwood, MS T, '05 (S.D.)

9 Beck, John QB 6-2 216 8/21/81 R Brigham Young '07 Mesa, AZ D2a, '07

Honestly, what is Ginn's upside heading into 2008?

Roddy White is the best comparison. He was on a bad team with a bad QB all year with no other weapons and ended up 13th overall.

Does anyone dare think Ginn can do the same?

I was baffled when Miami took Ginn as a top 10 pick last year (Jets fan), but have to admit, he exceeded my expectations. I was thinking he would put up Peter Warrick numbers at best for his career (Troy Edwards' type numbers more realistically), but he has the opportunity and I think skill to become a decent option. When picking a WR in the top 10, you are basically admitting, "this guy will be our WR1" and I cannot imagine that for Ginn, so I still think it was a poor pick, but he may not be an absolute flop. I still think they bring in WR help, at least one decent veteran (like a Keyshawn) and one retread (maybe Moose?) to take the heat off this young corp.

I say Hagan ends up with the best stats of this group.

I would put Ginn's upside for 2008 at 60 receptions for 900 yards. The most important factors for Ginn, I think, are improved QB play, and having a decent veteran receiver on the opposite side that can help mentor him, and also attract some attention away from the defense.

If Parcells brings a veteran receiver and QB in, I think this would really help Ginn's development quite a bit.

Will he ever become a number 1 fantasy WR? I doubt it, but I think Santana Moss-like production is certainly attainable within the next 2 or 3 years.

One thing I found interesting about Ginn is that he was hyped up as a raw "burner" coming out of Ohio State, but I think that his receving and route running skills were actually better than I expected in his rookie year. There were also several plays over the course of this season where Ginn ran by the defense but the QB couldn't get him the ball...with a better QB, his decent rookie numbers could have been significantly better.

I'll admit that I hated the pick... but Ginn improved a lot and he's not going suck as bad as I thought... I would still rather have Quinn and Rice. :lmao:

I think he'll be in the 60's for catches and the 800's for yards.

100% certain that Parcells will bring in 1-2 veteran WRs. Ginn will be the #2 or #3 WR once all signings are complete.
:excited: I'd look for Bryant Johnson ( AZ) to be one of the vets they sign, perhaps even a trade for CJ ( remember, Parcells did the same thing when he built the Jets with the C-Mart trade)Ginn will be the Terry Glenn of the bunch, the speedy WR that can't be covered.

Seriously. Rice>Ginn by himself. And how bad does Miami wish they had Quinn right now?

Here's hoping .... :kicksrock: * Beaumont's Roustabouts gave up King, Jeff CAR TE; Year 2008 Draft Pick 1.07 * Louisville Legends gave up Ginn Jr., Ted MIA WR; Year 2008 Draft Pick 2.08

What has Quinn done to make them wish they had him? I would lay down money that Ginn will have a better career than Quinn.

Beaumont: I take it you like Ginn better than any of this year's rookie WRs since you might have had your pick of them at 1.07. I like Ginn but am curious to hear why you are so high on him? I probably wouldn't have traded anything higher than a 1.10-1-12 pick for him.

Oh, I dont like him better than all this year's WR. But I am getting the 2.8 back (pick 20) and think I can get another fine WR prospect. I figure that Ginn is going to be the No. 1 option in Mia and their offense will only get better. I was actually impressed with him in 2007 and figure he is worth a late first. My thought, and this is just me, is that if you can get the No. 1 WR option for any team in a ppr, you do it, especially if you get a 2.8 back (which I figure will land me a Jacoby Jones sort of player). King is a throw away for this league IMHO. I almost couldn't give him away.My thoughts anyway ...ETA: I already have Hagan. I am toasted if Mia goes and gets an all new starting lineup.

one of you got ripped off, not saying which one ...

Ginn is the man in Miami headed into 2008. He has to be unless the team brings in a veteran like Keyshawn Johnson, which the team has been rumored to be working on already.

In leagues that award return yardage and touchdowns to individual players, he has a TON of upside. His explosiveness on kickoff returns is something to keep in mind when drafting.
